Beautiful house inside and out. It is in a wonderful place with good views. Inside it is well decorated and very comfortable. You need to stay for several days to enjoy it. Everything is clean and well thought out. The kitchen with everything you need.

A precious little house in which you would like to live.

The place itself is decent, very nice view of the water looking towards center of town. Some maintenance needs such as the windows not closing completely, broken dryer dishwasher lining coming apart, and shower floods the bathroom floor. But all that would have been okay if the owners simply would have answered messages or answered the phone during our stay. They never returned messages nor answered the phone and were later dishonest about what happened, claiming to have answered and provide services which simply did not happen. Very expensive lodging by Iceland standards and for the complete lack of communication.

The cottage is in a wonderful position with a view of the fjord and has 3 simple furnished bedrooms, a bathroom, a large living room with a well-equipped kitchen corner. Outside is a small patio with a barbecue. We stayed for only one night but it can be a great solution for those looking for a starting point for excursions to the area

A house in Iceland!

From the ring road you should also take a look at the fjord from the top, a few kilometres from Seyðisfjarðarvegur, which is about 30 kilometres away. There is a nice passing street. There are wide-sloping serpentines winding upwards - and on the other side downwards. There are many beautiful views along the route. A few kilometres from Seyðisfjörður you can also look upwards and follow the road number 93 (Seyðisfjarðarvegur) which is well developed - there is no need to compare it with the roads in the neighbouring fjord. (The road number 953 on Mjóðisfjörður or the road number 94 on Mjóðisfjarðarvegur which is located at the entrance to the waterfront is located at the top of the road.)

Very spacious, beautiful environment, but unfortunately not very clean

when we arrived we found the house not cleaned and the refrigirator was not cleaned. the house has a nice location just close to the harbour if you are on the ferry Norrøna, but on the other side, every house in Seyðisfjørður is close to the harbour

We are a couple travelling the country with our dog. When we were looking for a place to stay we specifically searched for places on airbnb that had "pets allowed" in their house rules and found this place. We then sent a message with our booking that we were a couple travelling with our dog and that he was very well behaved. We also wrote in the message that my family would be visiting Seyðisfjörður at the same time and would visit us in the house but would not stay the night. When we arrived in Seyðisfjörður my family wanted to stay with us in the house so we asked the owner/manager of the house if we could add more people and pay the difference. He said yes and gave me bank details that we could transfer the cost for the added guests, which we did.
Later that evening we were sitting on the porch of the house when the owner/manager arrived unannounced. He asked us if we had a dog with us, and I said yes. I told him we had sent a message that we were travelling with our dog and that their airbnb site has "pets allowed" in their house rules. He replied angrily that they do not allow dogs. I asked him if he wanted to see their house policy on airbnb or view the messege I sent him but he refused. He then accuses me of only having booked for two people but bringing more people, like he did not remember our conversation from this morning or that I already paid him the added fees for the extra guests. He then told me that there was a family staying there yesterday that only booked for 6 guests but they were 9 that stayed there, and that he would never rent to Icelandic people again. What other guests have done in the past has nothing to do with me, my family or our nationality. The house is very beautiful and the location is perfect, but the fact that the host accused us of unallowed pets and lying about the number of guests was unfair and horrible.

Very unpleasant experience

Lovely stay! The host greeted us upon arrival and showed us around before leaving- everything was spotless and super cozy. Lots even better in person and the views from the apartment are amazing! Very quiet area. The whole thing was pretty huge-3 bedrooms so would also be good for families. Right beside a cruise ship stop so it’s pretty neat to see a huge cruise right outside the driveway. The charm of the town and the kindness of everyone was really great. We are definitely coming back here!

Amazing! Best stay in Iceland

Our time at Lonsleira and Seydisfjordur was much too short!  These apartments are lovely in every way. I wish the weather had been better and we had the opportunity to sit outside and grill. The bedrooms were simple, clean, and comfortable, and the bathroom was quite large.  

Also, I should add that the owner was very kind to us. We arrived about 30 minutes past the check-in time, and he was very accommodating. 

I hope to go back someday and stay longer!

I want to go back!

Three of us spent three weeks in Iceland on the ring road and in the Westfjords.  We rented apartments whenever possible for the room, the privacy, and to have access to a kitchen.  Lonsleira was one of the best...spacious, well equipped, and full of personality in what we felt was a perfect location.  Add a helpful and communicative owner and a great view...book this place while you can.

Perfect apartment for a night or a week.

We stayed in eight different places during our Iceland Ring Road Trip and this was my favourite by far. It was everything I'd hoped for - a beautiful apartment inside and out with lovely views of the lagoon and town.

We made a detour from the Ring Road to Seydisfjordur as we've enjoyed the Icelandic drama series 'Trapped' which was partly filmed here. The detour itself was worth it as the road and and out of Seydisfjordur is especially scenic and only takes around half an hour from Egilsstaðir which is a big town on the Ring Road.

Lonsleira Apartments are actually four apartments in two large houses on the opposite end of the lagoon from the main town buildings. The two houses are beautifully painted, one mustard yellow and one cobalt blue. We were in apartment 7a which is the left side of the yellow building when facing the lake. We called the owner, Sigurður Gunnarsson, on arrival and he was there within a minute to let us in. He was really nice and friendly. And spoke great English!

The apartment had three double bedrooms (two with large beds, one with two single beds) and a very large open plan lounge/kitchen area with loads of windows. It's very light and airy and immaculately decorated with light, very lovely furniture. It had underfloor heating which was very lovely. There are also heaters in the rooms so it was very warm and cosy as it was cold outside when we visited t the end of June. The curtains are lovely fabric but didn't provide any blackout which would have been useful as it's pretty much 24/7 daylight in June. The kitchen was very well-quipped complete with nice wine glasses (cheap ones from Ikea everywhere else we stayed). There was a dishwasher with tablets. There was also a laundry area shared with the other apartments but we didn't need to use that.

We walked to the other end of the lagoon (5-10 minutes) in the evening and had a real nice meal in Hotel Aldan (Nordic Restaurant). The walk around the lagoon is really nice - it's such a beautiful, picturesque town with the painted houses and calm, reflective lagoon. I wish we could have stayed longer and that it was easier to get to from the UK to go for a longer stay in Lonsleira Apartments. If you ever find yourself in Seydisfjordur I cannot recommend these apartments more highly.
