Communication with people at main desk very difficult. He looks like a bum. Charged for a breakfast without gluten-free or lactose free options as promised and requested beforehand. 
Bland cottages. They were clean and in nice area. Beds were good.

No dietary options for breakfast even though they were promised. Gentleman behind desk is filthy and bad communicator.

There are a ton of flies and biting insects everywhere yet no nets on any of the windows. That means you choose between opening the windows to cool down the cabin when the sun warms it and not getting bitten or dive bombed by the flies. The hot water have a rotten egg smell - this should have been mentioned in the listing among the many things mentioned there. It’s explained in the cabin (see photo). The view is nice and the breakfast is good, especially the blueberry skyr. No scrambled eggs. Expensive as well.

Very small room.  Cabin had three areas: entry room (too small to sit); small bathroom (passed the throne test, by having a sliding door); and a very small sleeping area that was cramped with two sets of bunk beds (I can't imagine this cabin with 5 people).

It was clean.

Are the reviewers kidding?

Fantastic place!!! Amazing location! Amazing views! Spacious yet cosy and clean cottage. Would go back!!! Go for another stroll, stroke the dogs again, sip coffee and admire the view from the huge windows and door. Just splendid!!!

Fantastic place, beautiful location

The Dimmuborgir Guesthouse offers an array of lodging options, all of which look like rustic cabins.  We (party of four) stayed 3 nights in the largest of the cabins.  The two bedroom cabin offered a queen-ish bed and a pair of bunk beds.  The facilities were clean and comfortable.  The nights were quiet.  Bonus for us: an aurora display our first evening!

The breakfast is solid and features the trout and lamb that is smoked on the premises.

We will return.

Comfortable, Rustic, Great Location

We stayed in a one-bedroom cabin for 2 nights and this was the only location on our 10-day Ring Road trip where we saw the Northern Lights!  Lots to do and see in the area and the cabin was a comfortable place after long days of exploring.  It may be a bit rustic for some but the beds were comfortable and while we didn't take full advantage of the kitchenette, we enjoyed being able to make coffee, have wine glasses, cutting board, etc.  They even graciously allow guests to use their laundry facilities!  Breakfast was typical of Iceland but very good and the staff were friendly.

Good Choice in Myvatn

We stayed here two nights on our Iceland trip. Wish we had stayed in Akureyri instead, not because of the hotel, but because of the location. Very small town, limited restaurants. No TV. Bed was comfortable. Extra plugs offered, nice for all the items we needed to charge. Nice strong shower. Near the Myvatn Hot Springs that we tried out. We got discount tickets through the hotel, and they also gave us towels, so we didn't need to rent them from the Hot Springs. The room was plenty big, surprisingly was quiet with neighbors attached. Nice staff. Didn't do breakfast, as too pricey for us. Fish and chips down the street, not the greatest, had better. Grocery and gas down the street too.

Nice Room, Small Town

We stayed here for three nights in August. We checked in late but it was quick and easy. Our cabin was perfect for us with everything we needed for a self-catering stay. We didn’t take the breakfast option as it was a bit too pricey and we could cook our own in the cabin. There was plenty of storage space in the cabin, which we found useful. The location is excellent with lovely views of Lake Myvatn. All sights in the area are easily accessible from here. It’s also convenient to go for walks from here. We’d happily stay here again.

Great cabin in a wonderful location!

The Myvatn area is an area that you have to explore. But it's a bit remote, and especially, if you want to stay overnight at that area, the lodging possibilities are limited. This guesthouse is a very good option. The cabins are clean spacious, well equiped, very good beds.
The breakhast is excellent, especially the fresh waffles. But not just that, it's a full breakfast and for the next 8 hours, you are not hungry, for sure.
The only inconvenience is the high price. And that's the only reason for not giving 5 on 5.

Very good choice around Myvatn

We enjoyed our one-night stay in an economy double room with lake view. The room was quite cozy but well equipped. We appreciated the metal roll-down shutters on the windows that allowed breeze to come in while blocking light. The bed and bedding were comfortable The highlight was the breakfast and the breakfast area, lovely glass porch overlooking an inlet of the lake.  I saw four new-to-me bird species during our meal!  The food was varied and plentiful, the host was quick to refill and handle any special requests.
