Having experienced many guesthouses through out Iceland, we can assure you that  Hja Jonna (Jonna Guesthouse) is very good value for your money. It is most of all  very clean. The best and cleanest washroom of our trip, very modern. We had a little fridge in our room which was a very nice bonus. Good location for first or last night. Breakfast was included in our price and it was plenty and delicious with a very good variety. Jonna is a very welcoming host. There is a local pool just down the block. I highly recommend this guesthouse!  We stayed June 2017.

Excellent!

We had read good reviews and were excited
To stay here. However, We could barely move in our
Very small, completely charmless sparsely
Furnished room  We were planning an early start 
And had been told that breakfast hours started at 7 am .  We went downstairs at 7 10 am 
Only to find that breakfast did not begin until
8 30 am. We could not depart because 
There was no one around until 8 30 am
To take our payment.  Desperate we had a quick
Breakfast that consisted of An unimaginative 
And limited selection of prepackaged supermarket food   The whole experience was devoid of warmth and soul

I stayed here for three night's recently with my dad. He was attending a conference in Reykjavik and we decided to stay here as it was far more affordable than using a hotel in the city. Jonna was really friendly. We mostly kept to ourselves but I'm sure if we had asked for recommendations or had needed anything he would have happily obliged. It's about a 40 minute drive from Reykjavik and is in a good location for driving the coastal route or the golden circle.

The accommodation was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The communal bathroom was well equipped and was kept in good condition too.

Would definitely recommend.

Good base

This guesthouse is located in a small town. You can easily drive around the major attractions in the island from this location if you want to. Parking is free by the road. The room was clean and spacious. Our 5 person room was booked for 3 adults) The room had a fridge and wifi worked fast for us. The beds were comfortable and the quiet surrounding of the area quaranteed a good night sleep for us. The owner was modest and very friendly. He also gave us some great tips from a locals perspective what to see in Iceland. The breakfast was very good and homemade. Highly recommend this guesthouse over hotels.

Friendly people and good night sleep

The host was extremely friendly and made a wonderful breakfast for our family. He had extensive suggestions for things that were good for a family such as ours. He took a shine to my son which goes a long way for me! We found that very helpful. The room was small, but laid out cleverly with ikea stools that could be stowed easily.

There was a high table and bar stools to sit on and some high backed chairs in a hallway to sit on while our son fell asleep in the room. It would have been nice to have a couch or more comfortable chairs to relax on outside the room, but this was such a minor item, it would hardly be called a negative.
