Hestasport cottages was our favorite stay in Iceland! The cottages are adorable, clean, well-stocked, and the beds are comfy. The hot tub is incredibly lovely - they keep it quite hot and clean. 

I cannot more highly recommend this place - we actually changed our trip around to be able to spend another night here. We found it to be so beautiful and quiet, while still very easy to get to.

Great cottages and hot tub

We were looking forward to staying here on our tour of the ring road, the setting is lovely and a great area for horse riding but we did not enjoy our stay, The kitchen and bathroom were clean but there was thick dust on the blinds and shelves, we had one small hand towel for the bathroom each, one old lumpy pillow each and the hut had several hanging sheep skins which in view of the dust were not great. There was a hard sort of sofa which I guess was a sofa bed and two foldable wooden chairs outside which were ok for a short time. The kitchen was well equipped but the vegetable knife was blunt and wouldn't slice the onions. The shower was fine but everywhere smelt of sulphur which was overpowering at times. it was fine for one night but we wouldn't recommend to friends.

Sadly did not enjoy our stay

Excellent cottage, we where a bit said that we only stayed one night. It is at easy distance from ringroad 1, we cooked our own meal, and we enjoyed the hottub late in the evening,  bathrobes provided. The surroundings are nice to look at. 

Excellent cottage 

Hestasport cottages are not just a place to stay, it's a whole world of experience. It's a truly magical environment of a few good size traditional wooden cabins nestled on top of a hill above the village with a hot tube in the middle. We rented the biggest one and I highly recommend it for a family especially of you stay for a few days like we did. The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated, high ceilings and full of natural light. We cooked at home every evening and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. Finding the place was very easy. Like they told us, as long as you understand that the reception is not where the cottages are, not a problem at all. Communication with the management was very smooth. We too initially had booked for 2020 but had to cancel due to to covid and they graciously refunded us. Finally we managed to stay and we loved every minute of it. In the area I highly recommend to visit the 1238 The battle of Iceland museum and virtual experience, have a cold one in Retro Mathus in Hofsos, visit the stunning waterfalls of Reykjafoss, Glaumbaer traditional houses etc. We didn't do horse riding but saw a lot of riders and looked like fun. There is also white river rafting nearby. The area is so beautiful, plenty to do and staying in this stunning place is a truly authentic experience.

A marvelous place to stay.  Everything is excellent.  The cottage we have been to was cozy, warm, full of natural light and well equipped, including a kitchenette. The best is the hot pool in the middle of the place, a kind of paradise.  A must stay !

Best of the Best

Great cottages with everything we need to rest, sleep and cook.
We can park the car just at the door.
They even have crocs for us to walk inside the cottage.
It's really picturesque. I recommend it!
we also had a horse riding tour that was really fun even for my wife who had never riden before.

Amazing cottages in a really beautiful place.

The cottage was absolutely delightful. The setting was serene and beautiful. The hot tub was a great way to come back and relax after a day of adventure. The owners and staff we met were so friendly and I cannot speak more highly of Hestasport. Would definitely go back and recommend anyone in the area pay them a visit!

Beautiful cottages in the Icelandic countryside

We had initially had reservations in 2020 but had to cancel due to Covid.  Hestasport was wonderful in giving us a voucher for a future trip, which we were able to do July 2022.  From the initial making reservations from the USA, changing reservations, arrival and check in, everything was smooth and easy. THE CABINS, THE HORSEBACK RIDING and THE RAFTING....EVERYTHING was incredible.   We were so impressed with the kindness and hospitality of everyone we met exceeded all expectations.  If you don't book Hestasport you are missing out.   Already planning our next stay.

Everything about this place is AMAZING

We stayed there for just one night on our way from Myvatn to Geysir.
Beautiful cottages with an excellent thermal pool in the middle of the place.
Excellent value for the money.
Very friendly staff at the reception.
There is no restaurant for breakfast or dinner available but the local hotel (Vermalhid hotel) ist just a few minutes away and offers an excellent cuisine for dinner and a good breakfast buffet.

GREAT STAY

This is our third time staying at Hestasport Cottages and we were excited to be there again.  We knew we would be arriving late and instructions via email gave us the information we would need as to where to get the key, etc.  The cabin we stayed in was beautiful, clean and comfortable.  We used the hot pot - don't forget to take off any silver jewelry as it will tarnish!  We made tea and coffee in the kitchen and ate some muffins we had purchased for breakfast.  There is limited food options available locally so we made sure to eat before we got there (Akuyeri) and purchased easy breakfast options.  The kitchen does have a microwave, refrigerator, stove, etc.
