it is 2* homestay which we saw from taxi and decided to book for 1 nigh as we wanted house boat at first but they were asking for too much money. 
We took 2 rooms next to each other and price was ok 800 INR per room. Accommodation was not very clean, no hot water and owner was very grumpy.His wife prepared takeaway meals for us to take on a small boat trip which owner arranged for us and meals were good.
If you look for budget acc than that,s fine but otherwise no.

I opted for cottage, but when i went, there was a lady who took the complete payment at the time of checkin, and finally showed us some dirty room inspite  of giving the cottage which we had booked in advance through online. When I asked for the reason, he told that someone had a heart attack so could not move out and extended the stay. When I asked for the refund he refused to give. I stayed in that horrifying room for 1 hour later and then booked some good hotel "Silver Sands" online., thanks to my laptop and 3g Airtel connection. We moved out later. By any chance if you come across this hotel, kindly do not prefer if you are going with the family, and at the same cost you have many alternative hotels that provide the best.

Rooms are stinky, bedsheet is stinky and dirty. Bathrooms are horrifying. You would literally become sick if you get into those rooms which i stayed for a brief period of 2 hours. I do not know about the cottage though.

Worst!! They cheated..

We stayed two nights in one of the AC cottages near the front door.

When we arrived in our room, we first noticed that no one had cleaned it properly, which was already disappointing, but most of all it was infested with huge cockroaches ! We told it to the owner who didn't seem to be shocked, but helped us to get rid of it. I know streets in Alappuzha are full with cockroaches and rats but still, this was really disgusting.

We asked the owner for a daytrip in the backwaters: he told us we could do a tour in his boat (but I'm pretty sure it's not his) and that the boat driver would take us wherever we wanted, we would just have to ask him. in fact, the driver couldn't speak a single word of english so the boat tour was nice, but clearly expensive given the poor service provided.

Cockroaches and average boat tour

this place is very quiet and an excellent place to stay with your family.the food was great and the services provided by the family run hotel was awesome.the owner had was so good that he had helped us enjoy alleppey and made it a memorable one.

one more thing to say is about the house boat ride provided by the hotel was awesome.it was a romantic one and the food was so fresh that it still waters my mouth.

i and my wife had a memeorable experience over there.a highly recommended hotel.

An excellent place to stay with family and a great hospitality

It was overall a bad experience staying here from 31-May-2010 to 01-Jun-2010.
It is located at the end of the city and the boat points hence difficult to locate. There are no helpers in the hotel, hence do not expect any service. Room service is pathetic. All room cleaning had to be done by us. Moreover the rooms are very small.It is a home converted into tourist home.Hence has just the basic amenities.
The greenery surrounding it is the only good thing about it.
There is no hot water facility or concierge in the tourist home.There are frequent power cuts in the town and this place does not have a generator. 
Never to take boats from here, better to ask other boat operators.
It is best to avoid this place as there are much better places at this price available in the city centre.
