It’s a decent hotel located right beside the Chitradurga fort. Rooms are neat and maintained good (but not great). If you are getting a decent place to stay at this rate, you shouldn’t be expecting a five star room as well. 

There will be “beware of snakes” boards inside the property and we actually happened to see a small snake as well. 
Breakfast is really bad with very limited and tasteless options.

Good place to stay (dont expect a lot)

Very sad state of a hotel which has an excellent location. Just 300 mts away from the chitradurga fort. I am sure ever since the hotel  was built, they have not done anything to maintain it. Very shabby linen, bath towels, near toilets but broken and worn out tile work. All doors close with great difficulty. It seems as though no funds are given for the upkeep.  Our bedsheet was literally torn. Though should mention that the staff is trying their best within their limited means to keep the room very clean. This place shows a very govt. kind of mindset. 

Sad hotel

Absolutely disgusted with the service offered by this hotel. I made a reservation in June for a stay in 6th December. I provided my credit card details via booking.com. I have received an email from the hotel today that the hotel is overbooked and they have cancelled my booking .

I am furious. I planned this whole trip 5 months ahead, and planned my itinerary around this night's stay. I called the hotel and the reception staff told me they didn't confirm my booking (despite me previously receiving emails providing me with a PIN number to check in online to save time ahead of arrival). 

Very very shoddy, unprofessional and inconsiderate treatment of guests. DO NOT RELY ON THIS HOTEL TO HONOUR YOUR BOOKING. 

Treated appallingly. AVOID!!!!!

1. Property is not well maintained; at the first glimpse, it looked like a hospital
2. Rooms look literally like wards in a hospital with ill maintained storage, cots and to add to that noisy ACs
3. pillow cover was literally yellow in color which was supposed to be white
4. Restaurant was a nightmare; We ordered gobi manchurian which was not cooked properly and we had to send it back. And told them not to send anything, the restaurant sent another plate which again was as bad. Something as simple as coffee tasted really bad and was not even served in a kettle to room; it was brought in a cup and saucer..
5. The staff at reception were courteous, but the guys at restaurant had not clue about hospitality. We had taken a package of accomm and breakfast plan; nobody from the restaurant even bothered calling us to check us for breakfast
6. Room curtains were shady with doors and windows having gaps for any reptile to sneak in
7. Outside the property has nicely paved cement road, but our public is as careless to dirty the surroundings of the property
8. The lights of the Chitradurga fort has not been working for years and the main reason for people staying at this property was to get that view of Durga fort with lights on; now that there are no lights, its pointless to stay at this property with such poor maintenance and service

Not a pleasant stay at all!

Neat Hotel easily accessible abdveasy to locate nearby the town areas. It is having  polite staff, beeresh and other staff are prompt in attending requirements and the overall place is maintained well with adequate care

Did not expect this from Karnataka tourism- thought these hotels would be good
Only advantage is the location which is near the Chitradurg Fort



Chitradurg visit 

Stayed here for 1 Day.
1. We were allotted Room #101, which was near restaurant with constant noise late through night and from early in the morning. Can not open window even because it opens towards restaurant and there is no privacy. Decent room size and a clean bathroom but some cleaning needs focus specially linens and curtains. No Tea/Coffee sachets even though there is an electronic tea maker(??)
They have bungalow type rooms, but not sure whom they allot 
I fell for that while booking. 
2.  Food is decent and more than the value of money they charge. With no eateries nearby, have to solely depend on in house restaurant.
3. Location is within walking distance of Chitradurga Fort and we booked primarily for locational advantage.

This is a govt. owned property so do not expect service as a 3* / 4* private hotel but they were accommodative.
This is one of the best in Chitradurga Town, accessibility can be bit challenging with large vehicle as this is located in the old part of the town.
Overall premise is clean and staff are friendly.

Would recommend this, if purpose of visiting Chitradurga is the Fort and stay is of short duration.

Good for Short Say and Perfect for Fort Visit

Mayura Durga is a well maintained and kept property. Located at the foot of the ‘Durga Fort, it is at a convenient and walkable distance from the Fort’s entrance. 

The rooms are well equipped as per KSTDC standards. The family room is large and has sit outs on both the inner passage side and the outer garden side. The rooms were readied clean when we checked in. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Within walking distance from here is Doddapete Main road which hosts several Khanavalis, smaller of which offer home-made breakfast, lunch and dinner. One can try local special like Ragi Mudde and Saru, Jolada Rotti and Bhendekayi Chutney, Shenga Chutney etc. 

Disappointing food options at the KSDTC restaurant at Mayura Durga:

The restaurant is clean and well kept and the menu offers a wide variety. 

*Unfortunately*, the KSTDC restaurant does not serve, on weekends, the “local specials” even though it is prominent in their menu. Get this: there is no South Indian food to be found on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, when I expect the tourist footfalls to be the highest.

So, if you visit on a weekend afternoon, you will get only “North Indian” (so called North Indian) for Lunch. For dinner the South Indian Thali is available. 

But no local special from the menu is served to weekend tourists at all. 

This was very odd to us because KSTDC’s purpose is to promote local tourism (and that includes food), but somehow, in my opinion, some type of weird logic of convenience has been applied and the weekend tourist is denied local cuisine. 

I hope someone from the Mayura ‘Durga management reads this is corrects this anomaly. 

An otherwise excellent experience was hampered by the restaurant experience. 

But it was KSTDC’s loss because we ate our meals at a homely Khanavali on Doddapete Main Road

Perfect location, good rooms and staff, but poor food options

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Clean premises. Fresh Food only. Great Stay. The location is also right in front of the Fort. Located centrally one can feel at home. Have patience to get fresh food.

Super Location

We went to Chitradurga to have a quiet and relaxing vacation and this kstdc hotel is perfect for that. It's just across the fort. It's away from the city. There is no noise pollution. From one side you can view the majestic fort. Another side you can see the windmills. You can really enjoy the starry night with clear sky.
 Room and bathroom was clean. Restaurant served decent homely food. Cooking is not exceptional, but we have no complaint.
Now the con:
   We didn't ask specifically for fort facing rooms. So they have given us a room which faces a inside catwalk and a stone wall.
