First of all these people are too much unprofessional. 2 times I have booked this homestay. Both the times they have modified my booking saying owners guest arrived at the last moment. What kind of behaviour is this?? If your owner dnt consider prior booking what is the point of the entire home stay concept. Though Jenifer (main staff) was available and helpfull but  there were no other staffs. Even they will close the kitchen saying cook is not available. And as this resort is quite interior, it's difficult to arrange food. May be there rooms are neat and clean but very very poor service. I faced twice. Never again I ll book this again and also ask anyone not to book this property.

Unprofessional !!

Pls don't go by the photos - while rooms are big n clean, this place is located in a shady area of Coonoor, approach road is v bad. The pictures show only one view.  Besides, this is not a professional run set up- when we stayed, caretakers were not around multiple times, maybe not enough staff. 

The place doesn't have anything to do as activity, it's a very basic set up really. 
It's more a house room bring rented.

The positive part is the staff, when available, was courteous and helpful. 

It's not worth the money being spent. The area surrounding is plain dirty and extremely unhygienic and noisy. 

I would not go back to this place.

Bearcountry - bad location, not professional set up but good rooms

We a group of 20 members visited this place. Excellent place for a group get together. Big rooms with 6 beds and small rooms with 2 beds available for friends and family stay. Nice location and views. Food has to be ordered early and it is good.  Best home stay in coonoor.

Best place for family and friends

Quiet location. Not many people in coonoor are aware of Stanley park, some know sunvalley homestay- it is close to Wellingdon and quiet some distance away from main coonoor. there is a road via old Aravangadu. Google maps is fairly accurate- try rerouting via wellingdon. there is no sign board on the property, has adequate parking space. Call Ms. Jennifer before you get there and she would be there to guide you. Food is EXPENSIVE, but good and has to be ordered at least 2 hours in advance.  Fairly quiet location. Ms. Jennifer arranged a day's tour from 9am -3:30pm for just Rs. 1000/-.The tariff is slightly higher considering the distance from Coonoor and is not much cheaper than online portals if you book directly. I was pleasantly surprised to spot a couple of German Tourists staying there.

family visit

The bear country is situated just off the beaten track of coonoor, which if you like a peaceful sleep is perfect. When we arrived Jennifer showed us ours room which was spacious clean and tidy and the bathroom was the cleanest I have seen so far. Hot water is constant as well which was a welcome relief.

You can also get food at the bear country which I recommend as it was exceptional, we had a whole range of dishes whilst here. It was restaurant quality at a cheap price!

Jennifer our host was excellent, made our food helped us with taxis and where to go which buses to catch. We were also here when the Indian government decided to ban 500 and 1000 notes to which her staff walked to the bank for us to change our notes.

Could not recommend this place more highly. True Indian hospitality.
