Mr. Jeffery was an exceptional host. He ensured I had a very comfortable trip, and his recommendations greatly enhanced my overall experience. The hotel and its location were amazing. The room was clean and comfortable. Thank you, Mr. Jeffery!

A Hospitality Experience to Remember

Extremely disappointing to think that anyone would deem it fine to run a resort which is so run down without renovating / revamping the place. It’s like the rooms are in the middle of a junkyard with loads of junk like unused furniture, kitchen furniture etc lying around in the garden. The garden is badly maintained too & all the poor plants are either half dead / dying. There are so called ponds which are dirty & more like sewage ponds within the property.There is no access to the beach through the resort..you have to go outside & access it via the road. Just 5 mins though.
The front desk seems to be clueless about anything & everything. It was bearable as we’re experienced travellers, so after the first day, we knew how to get around & what to do & whom to ask. Excuses for not knowing about transportation, food, restaurants etc. when you’re in the hospitality business is not ok. We asked the front desk for an auto to go for dinner at ‘Something different’….we ended up paying Rs.450/- which is more than regular autos & were later told by ‘Someting different’ that they have pick up & drop facility for patrons. Even this basic information the front desk doesn’t have. On the day we were checking out, we’d asked for a cab to be arranged to the jetty. The cab guy took off leaving us stranded because he had to wait for 15 mins. The hotel staff, nor the front desk had a clue what to do, nor did they seem interested in doing anything until I started losing my patience. Even then they were making a half hearted attempt to do nothing. Finally in a panic, I called the auto driver who had helped us in our travels through the whole week ( a very good person who we found ) & he arranged for two autos to take us within 5 mins. Same thing that a ‘chain of hotels’ couldn’t manage to to.
The rooms were clean though basic, but did find one or two cockroaches. The room cleaning was done regularly & properly.
The only saving grace is the breakfast which was very good & the manager - Geoffrey who seemed to have quite a number of good suggestions about what to do on the island, which was useful & helpful.
I think you’ll need to firstly understand who are the type of customers you’ll want to cater to. Sorry for the realistic review, but you’ll really need to wake up & pull up your socks.

Run down & badly maintained

We had been waiting to go to Wild Orchid for many years. We had a full two weeks there on the Andaman Islands. The room was nice and quite large, bathroom was adequate but could be updated but was fine. Breakfast was fine and staff and manager always courteous and helpful if needed. Water is provided in thermos type refillable bottles which we put in the fridge! The location was not on the beach but many places to go down to the beach if required nearby! Plenty of places near to walk. We found Wild Orchid restaurant a bit trendy for us, plus music was often very loud which seems to be an Andaman thing we noticed a lot of places. Our only complaint, nothing the hotel can do about it, was traffic noise. The hotel is set on a fairly busy road with traffic starting very early about 0530. We are not used to this so we're awake very early! We walked lots and visited the capital town, Dolphin resort bar and beach, ate mainly at the famous seafood restaurant!

Nice room, good breakfast

We had a great experience at Wild Orchid at Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep Island). The Manager explained about the island and recommended what to see and visit during our stay there. He also helped us arrange for a 2-wheeler to go around the place. One of the things I appreciate the most about him was that he went out of his way to help us. It so happened one evening that my husband was having a fever, I reached out to him asking if he could send a fever tab for my husband via the housekeeping staff. Instead, he came with the medicine and enquired about how my husband was doing and followed up with us on the next day asking if we still needed any help. I truly appreciated this gesture of his. 

The breakfast and service here was excellent. I would especially like to thank Ajay, Farkan (hope I got his name right) and the cheerful chap from Kolkatta (whose name I forget now, sorry)

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Thanks to the Manager and staff for making our stay memorable.

Great experience at Wild Orchid, Havelock Island

Room is big size and decorated like a wild jungle resort. Linen towels etc are clean and good quality. Restaurant serves latin american food. Breakfast menu is limited.  Dont have intercom from room. Its a very small property. Not much place to roam around inside.
Average resort little overpriced.  Manager and other staff are well mannered and courteous n helpful.

Okay experience

The Property does not have a private beach but it was mentioned in the Room facility almost in all the websites. It was too costly. Anish who is the Resort Manager was too rude when enquiring about the Cancellation of the room for one day. we booked the resort for 4 days and wanted to cancel the last day. We were in a tough situation where in, our ferry was about to cancel and our flight was preponed,   we decided to vacate the room last day. He did not help us, as we were the only family to stay at the resort. He dint want to lose that one day rent and denied our request. we were having kids and they were not well. Even after explaining the situation, he dint bother to listen to it and help us. The property was not so good. it lacked cleanliness. they charged too much for nothing.

Bad experience with Wild orchid

We were there to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We have booked 2 rooms as my two daughters are with us. Rooms were clean and beautiful. Well decorated. Manager Raj is very sweet and helpful. Infact all the staff was good. Breakfast was good. They can improve that for sure. But good thing is zero wastage of food. Location is great. You can reach the beautiful beach in 5 minutes walk. Across the road there is a Kathmandu restaurant. We had all are meals there. It was delicious.  I really enjoyed the stay in wild orchid. Thanks for the great hospitality.

Wild orchid Havelock

The hotel usually has deals at 4k odd, we paid more than double since it was a last minute new year booking…which is understandable.

The property would’ve probably been great at one time, I think the COVID period has taken quite the toll. The owner needs to ensure a revamp very quickly to ensure they are servicing their customers well and thus more business. Quick things that can/ need to be done -
1. The place looks nothing like the pictures, pl renovate quickly for it to start looking like them.
2. There is stagnant water around and thus a lot of mosquitoes. Seems like a disease house.
3. Reopen the much talked about restaurant.
4. Not overcharge before things have been put in order

The staff - specially Bhaskar and the restaurant head - Saurabh are pretty hands on, sensible and nice…they implemented feedback quite quickly-  Breakfast has flies all over it the first day, when we gave feedback, from the next day onwards everything was served from stove to table…great experience. The rest is none to talk home about. 

More so, we feel cheated by the owner for the price and overcharging.

2. Many better properties are available for the same price. Even ones on the beach

Great staff but the property is nothing to talk home about

We stayed in challet room with nice view. Property was very neat and clean well maintained. View is soo good from our room. Food was amazing in taste. Wifi is very limited that need to improve. Thanks to khushboo and Karishma at front desk they are very helpful. Over all our stay was amazing. We enjoyed alot 

Vacation at Seashell

I had the most wonderful experience at the Wild Orchid Resort. The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble and service is completed with a smile. The rooms are really beautiful and priced fairly. Hot water was available 24/7, the wifi was excellent and all really helped me. I had to move rooms a few times and the staff helped me with my luggage. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the rooms as well.

The location is excellent, surrounded by all of the Havelock eateries and dive shops. The resort's own restaurant Fat Martin has some of the best fresh food on the island, I would really recommend it.

Bhaskor particularly was excellent and responsive to any questions and issues that I was having. I would really recommend this hotel. As a solo female, I felt extremely safe and the staff went out of their way to ensure that.
