A country house with every facility is a dream come true. A quaint little river flowing by makes it just extraordinarily beautiful. We were a small group of office friends (eight people) traveling from the city nearby and it was one of the most peaceful experiences for all of us. The place was in our budget and everything was perfect. Seeing the interiors of the bungalows I was over the moon, everything was so pretty and dreamy. The stay was comfortable and enjoyable! Keep up the good work guys!

Exceptional

We were in Mumbai to attend a family gathering and we all decided to go out for a weekend getaway.
Got to know about The Rippling Edge from my friend, and I am glad I followed it. It is peacefully located in a small village, with a river flowing next to it.
We stayed in the bungalow and it was just the kind of accommodation we were looking forward to.

The gazebo became our favourite hangout spot for lazing around, or relishing deliciously cooked meal.
We all loved the stay are thankful to the owner Capt Gadhok, who ensured we had an amazing fun family holiday experience..

I visited one of my friend who lives in Mumbai. After doing the Mumbai Darshan, I was left with two more days. After spending a lot of time googling where to visit then I came across this place "The Rippling Edge - Gadhok Cottage". When we reached the property we were amazed at the ambience and the surroundings. One thing which added up the charm of the place was the river which was flowing just beside the farm. Our last two days were well spent there in Karjat.

Riverside Homely Stay

I stayed two nights at the Rippling Edge with my family of 4 plus our 5 year old Beagle. It is a beautiful pet friendly place. There is a gorgeous pristine river flowing right along the cottage. It is safe for your kids as well as your four-legged friends to take a swim in the waters.

Pet Friendly Place

We were worried to step out after the lockdown eased, but we were glad to have booked this place. It will go down as one of the most memorable trips I’ve taken with family. We spotted The Rippling Edge cottage online after a lot of research. There were many getaways from Mumbai for small groups and couples, but none for a big family that offered enough space and things to do around the property. Watch out for other places that have copied and pasted photos of this cottage and passed off as their own. 

The staff was amazing, the service excellent and we had the entire cottage to ourselves. The food was carefully prepared and everybody from my 83-year-old father-in-law to my 11-year-old niece relished all the meals. The staff took great care to look into each of our requests and Captain Gadhok was a fantastic host. He had great stories to tell about his time in the merchant navy and was easy to engage with. 

Except for the fact that we thought we would get four bedrooms and ended up being taken aback that we got two bedrooms and four beds, everything was a breeze. Since it was all family, it was easy to share the space and the sound of the river lulled us to sleep every night. There’s no bigger bonus than that. 

Be prepared for giant mosquitoes that disappear after the staff fumigates the place. And no, the smoke isn’t suffocating or foul-smelling like the stuff we’re used to in the cities. This fumigation was completely odourless.

There are places to trek close by and if you’d rather play a sport on the premises, there’s a badminton court as well a play area for kids. Or you could lie down with a book, on a swing or a hammock, by the river like we did. 

There are two dogs that belong to Gadhok - they are super-friendly and add to the whole happy vibe of the place. In a year that has been such a disaster, this trip has been another reason to feel grateful.

Great family getaway in Karjat

We had a good stay at the farm house , the owners and staff were very hospitable and made us comfortable . Ample space to play and fresh river water flowing along side was the highlight of our holiday .

What do I say, everything is wrong about this place !!! This has been an expected peaceful weekend gone wrong completely.

1. The place is old , dirty and not maintained !! Every room and corner has dirt and cobwebs.
2. We had 3 bandicoots as guests who frequented the house using the stairs as they owned the place forever. 
3. You enter the living room and you find 2 big double beds. With the greed to make more from the buck, the owner has put more double beds in every corner of  the house which includes the living area, the porch and the bedroom. 
4. The bathroom had mats (picture enclosed) which intended to be an anti-skid mat, but doubled to be a holding area for grime, dirt and soapy lather. Obviously nobody cared to pick up the wet towels from the bathroom or wash those mat areas. We had to wear slippers during our bath so that the mats dont dirty our feet during bath. We can ignore the pain derived from standing on those mats, the focus was on hygiene for us.
5. The so called water-front villa was a sham. You gotto be lucky for TATA power to turn on the water taps to get lucky. But if luck has its way, you will get a free cleaning class on bathing techniques, defacating methods) and utensils / clothes / both washing. You will wake up to the sight and sound of this where the innocent villagers go beating up their clothes or rumbling with their vessels. 
6. There is no connectivity in the area- none whatsoever, Jio, Vodafone, Airtel - all resting in peace. ZERO network even for calls and sms. Interebt would be a far fetched dream. Yes, the idea was a holiday, but you cant be disconnected from the wotld for 48 hours. The owner has not made any provisions to keep atleast a dongle/ router to be used by guests. When asked, he gave us a lame excuse of connection wiring not done. Honestly, every village is connected these days and in that era, calling a place like Karjat - a village is the biggest Lie told to guests. 
7.. Finally the owner - the MOST unhelpful and rigid man who believes in his policies and ignores customer centricity is the worst host you can ever meet. 

The only saving grace turned out fo be the food and all thanks to our group which gave them the set menu for all meals.

I have lived on many homestays, rental villa, by far the worst experience ever.
