I had the pleasure of staying here for 6 days.  As a first time solo traveler I was apprehensive, however I booked the yoga retreat based on the reviews I read. The things o appreciated the most are
- Unni and his team are standout, they provide 5 star service. From the Ayurveda practitioners, yoga teachers to the cleaners, they are all so attentive and strive to make you feel comfortable 
- The food is just delicious! Think the rainbow and then some. As a vegetarian I was in paradise!
- The yoga was brilliant, the practitioners managed to find a balance between those that just wanted to stretch and those that wanted to push themselves and try new poses 
Whilst the rooms may be humble the service is 5 star! I would highly recommend a stay.Thank you Unni and team for taking care of me. Isa

Great food, good yoga, excellent service

Feel like spending two weeks in literal paradise? Where you can’t distract yourself from focusing on yourself with washing or mundane life admin jobs? Want to be forced to sit down, focus on yourself and do a hobby you’ve always wanted to do? Also want to eat amazing food? Hinterland is the place for you! 
It is an oasis, a literal utopia. You’re surrounded by natural wildlife, pets and sounds that you would pay to hear to help with sleeping/relaxation via your phone… but it’s just outside your door and not anything artificial. 
Your washing is done for you!! 
The food is to bloody die for!! Never ever eaten such amazing food. 
Enough activities to feel like the day is filled but you also have hours to sit, relax and do whatever it is you want to do. 
The 14 day detox gives you so much in such a short period of time. 
A chance to allow “me time” and to heal from past traumas. 
A chance to sit and read or paint. Finally do that one hobby I’ve  always wanted to do but couldn’t because I’m too busy with life. 
The massages are everything. A daily massage post morning yoga??? Uhm yes please. 
Unni is so attentive and listens if you need. 
Seriously this whole experience is 10/10. 
I couldn’t recommend it more. The staff are incredible and so attentive. They go above and beyond to make sure your experience at hinterland is nothing short of perfect. 
It gives you time to sit, relax and reflect. A chance to grow and become a better version of yourself. It helps you realise your self worth so you leave, knowing you should work more towards being the best version possible of yourself.

10/10 experience that everyone needs to try!!!

One of the best experiences I had during my 6 month of traveling. 
Such a transformative experience with amazing teachers, perfect organization, beautiful rooms & nature and great food.
Everything is perfectly managed and every single person working at Hinterland Village is super competent & friendly.

Perfect stay and transformative experience

I stayed at Hinterland Village for 11 days in February/March for a "Golden Age" retreat. Two months on, I can honestly say that not a single day has gone by when I haven't thought about the wonderful experience that I had...and when (not if) I will return. 

I received rapid and helpful responses to all my questions from the owner Unni prior to booking, but I was nonetheless a bit apprehensive before I arrived. I am a 60-year old woman, I was travelling solo for the first time in many years, and I had only ever done a couple of yoga classes before, which I hadn't really enjoyed! But I wanted to do something to improve my health and to reduce my stress - and, as soon as I arrived, I knew that I had made one of the best decisions of my life.

Pretty much everyone I met at Hinterland had been at least once before. Many had been many times. And those coming back were typically the ones staying the longest! I can completely understand why. So much love and care has gone into creating this very special place, and it really shows. I will go for longer next time too.

Contrary to my previous experiences, I loved the yoga 😊 The mix of small-group (beginner) and larger-group classes with a range of teachers was great, and I was really happy with the progress that I made. I also really enjoyed the meditation and philosophy sessions, and the Ayurvedic massages were fantastic.

I have never eaten so well either...or so much! Every meal was home-cooked, delicious, incredibly varied and beautifully presented - a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach, and impossible to resist! Meals were such fun too, and it was great to meet and chat to lovely people of all ages and from all parts of the world. It felt like a family, and I never once felt even slightly lonely.

The wonderful Unni exuded warmth, and looked after each of his guests with amazing care and attention. And, without exception, his team were fabulous too.

The whole experience has been life-changing for me. Now I am home, I am continuing with yoga and other exercise classes, and my diet has changed completely. I feel healthier and happier than I have for years, and calmer than ever before.

If you want to improve your yoga practice (whatever your level) in a wonderfully welcoming and homely environment, where you will feel cared for as an individual, where you can totally relax, where you can eat the most delicious and healthy food, and where you will meet lots of great people, DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK!

A wonderful, life-changing experience...can't wait to go back!

A truly authentic wonderful experience. Uni and his team went above and beyond in ensuring all guests were looked after. The yoga classes, the meditations, the massages, the food, all amazing. Uni has created an oasis of calm and tranquility. There are people from all over the world and of all ages. Everyone is made to feel welcome and part of the community. It really is an exceptional place and experience. Somewhere to recharge, revitalise and restore your faith in yourself and human nature.

A truly wonderful and authentic experience

My mother and I visited Hinterland for two weeks and it was just not enough time. The whole experience was simply fabulous. We truly felt like we were living in a bubble, surrounded by raw beauty of nature and animals, such warm and welcoming staff always wearing their brightest smile. The yoga and meditation sessions were calming and reflective, adapting to all variations and levels of flexibility. The yoga philosophy classes were very interesting and thought-provoking on a spiritual level, we really enjoyed them. The massages were light but relaxing and much needed after yoga. The food was absolutely wonderful, packed with local flavours and spices and so nutritious! The accommodation was simple but kept very clean and we always felt safe. Unni was extremely warm and such a genuine person who really cares about each and every individual and whatever path in life they may be taking. He took great care of us in every way and helped us organise a lovely boat trip in the back waters. It was an unforgettable holistic experience and has definitely motivated us to make changes to improve the quality of our lives back home. We will surely be back for more!

A wholesome experience in a beautiful nature bubble

We spent the most beautiful six days at Hinterland Village. From the minute that he greeted us with warm hugs Unni made sure that all our needs were met.  We loved the yoga sessions in the shala looking out over Unni's rice paddy; Swami's enlightening yoga philosophy talks; the wonderfully varied and delicious food and drinks; the gentle massage sessions; the meditation; the chats with the other yogis from around the world. Thank you Unni and all the staff at Hinterland Village who made it such a memorable experience.

A beautiful stay...

It is our second time visiting this yoga resort and for a good reason it is worth it coming here over and over again!
Location, great yoga lessons and the best South Indian chef serving delicious food from the time we wake up for the first yoga lesson until eve and the bed time.
The host Unni is taking care of all and every little detail during our stay. We feel we could stay here for months..
The massage this time was amazing as well.
Calm, clean place to enjoy..
