We had gone to Balrampur House expecting to enjoying a few days of peace and solitude. But they had let out their lawn for marriage functions . The loud music and hordes of marriage attendees shattered our peace of mind.
It's very unethical of them to host functions while there are guests in the hotel. It completely destroys the experience we were looking forward to

What a heavenly place, Set in a perfect location, with parking space - a luxury in Nainital, such beautiful rooms, courteous staff, simple but good food. I looked for something that was not satisfactory but couldn't.

Music group outing

Very good property . Well manicured gardens and lawns . The rooms have to be selected properly . Insist on garden facing rooms as the internal rooms are claustrophobic. Food is good but don’t expect it to be sumptuous as choice is limited . Although the staff does  all it can to make sure your stay in comfortable and enjoyable . Full marks to Mohan jii the manager for his hospitality. On site parking is a great relief . Great place for family and friends.  Could do with some more refurbishment and improved toiletries etc .

Great place

Review has to be in two parts as there is great contradiction present in the booking part and the stay...

First the good part that is the stay..it is a heritage property with old world  charm as it was summer palace of maharaja of balrampur and renovated later by a britisher, has a very big parking of much necessity in nainital where parking space is a big issue nowadays ...

Rooms are old and have not been renovated of late but of decent size, go for the ones with a garden view which are the only ones to justify the cost..food is home cooked style, simple yet tasty but very limited variety...if you are looking for an extravagant buffet u will be dissapointed.. 

The best part is you can have your personal bonfire at the garden on a nominal cost and enjoy your drinks and snacks there...u have to take your drinks as they don't have a bar...staff is very kind and courteous..they will provide you with beer mugs or scotch glasses and always serve u with a smile...

Now the bad part was the booking..they have outsourced their booking department to a company in delhi which takes the booking and they will promise you the garden view rooms and other things but when u reach the hotel u come to know garden view room is booked and they have no idea that it was promised by their very own sales office..They do feel sorry but can't help u out...Again at the check out time confusion over billing as they are not aware of the details of what has to be charged ( deal promised by their outsourced sales office )...Anything related to booking there is confusion and calls made to people in delhi to clarify...All in all a good property and hotel staff but very poor management..

Holi weekend at Balrampur House

Neat and clean royal place.. has a nice sit out in the garden from where we can get a good view...Food has to be ordered before hand so that they prepare it fresh. Taste was also ok. They also had a small heater on the side of the bed to warm the blankets which is not available even in star hotels,  was very impressed with tat. Overall it gives you an experience of a pleasant stay.

Balrampur House, Nainital

Having visited Nainital 20 times, we look for different hotels to stay in so that the experience doesn't become repetitive...but again going to Nainital is a must, it's like an old family tradition :)
So this time we tried Balrampur House, recommended by my brother who had stayed there a few months earlier and was awed by the place... And he was so right...the imposing building has a colonial era charm which instantly makes one comfortable, and the staff treats you like royalty :)
The huge lawns apt for a stroll, a game of badminton or just sitting near the small pond and admiring the beautiful greenery all around. Food was sumptuous... sitting in the cosy dining room and enjoying the fresh delicacies while it rained outside, simply perfect :)
Pickup and drop to and from the mall road was smooth, the chauffeur was well educated and had full knowledge of the area. He advised us not to walk in the remote areas of ayarpatta as it was the season of leeches.
All in all, a wonderful stay... Would definitely like to revisit!

Grandeur and old world charm

This former residence of the Maharadjah of Balrampur has retained the somewhat outdated charm of ancient times in a beautiful natural and quiet environment. The room was spacious, comfortable and furnished like the old one. The bathroom was well equipped and functional. impeccable cleanliness. The reception is friendly and stylish, efficient and attentive service. As the only guests at this time, we had our meals in the room with a tasty and very copy of traditional Indian cuisine (meals are ordered in advance by determining the time of service). Breakfast can be on the terrace overlooking the chauffeur, which was very nice under a sunscreen. A large quiet room in the hotel and you have a free WiFi parking space in front of the Naital Court and an excellent 10 minutes drive from the hotel.

It's an excellent address in Nainital.

Recently went to Nainital with my office friends. This was my first trip with my own money and it was totally worth it. We stayed at Balrampur House. It's the most hospitable stays I've ever had. Everything was at our beck and call. We even played cricket in their lawn. Vinod ji was warm and nice to me and all my friends. Totally memorable trip

Balrampur House Nainital is Very Good Property. Excellent Food, Very polite & supporting Staff Especially Mr. Vinod. Rooms are very spacious has Good View.

In Nainital Only Balrampur House Has a Big Garden Space Area...approx gathering of More than 1200 Guest. Good option for Destination Wedding As well. Feeling for A Luxury Experience.

EXCELLENT STAY AT BALRAMPUR HOUSE.....NAINITAL

Coming from Singapore, I usually spend a few weeks in India during the month of Nov/Dec and try to cover few places. This time I visited Nainital with two families (4 adults and 4 children). Nainital was in our travel bucket list since quite some time and finally this time managed to tour the place. While searching for various options to stay, my preference was to avoid traditional hotels near Mall road, instead some resort kind of stay in a quiet place but easily approachable to all the attractions. History of Balrampur House amazed me and that’s how I locked it. 

Getting there
As we were travelling from Delhi, early morning Delhi-Kathgodam Shatabdi was the best option. We avoided travelling by road due to kids. Breakfast was served in the train. From Kathgodam took a taxi to reach hotel (7 seater Ertiga, INR 1800). Though the distance is a shy of 40 kms, but as we stopped for tea/snacks, it took almost 2 hrs to reach there. Route from Kathgodam to Nainital is amazing! The entire stretch is scenic. As the road condition is excellent, it made the journey enjoyable

Property and facilities
The moment we reached Balrampur House, the astonishing property amazed us. Surrounded by mountains, the property lies on amazingly flat piece of land. The outdoor space is very well maintained, with a separate car parking space. 
 
Though the reception is a bit small, but don’t forget it is a heritage property turned into hotel. The royal touch is still maintained. The wooden carpeted staircase took us to the 1st floor where we booked 3 Regal Suites. One of the suite was on the ground floor, however, to keep everyone together, we changed to another room on the 1st floor.
 
The rooms are huge, high ceiling, big chandeliers, wooden flooring, solid wooden bed, and heritage styled furniture. Even the ‘kundis’ on the door have a rustic touch. Our room had a changing room as well, with royal dressing table, standing mirror, and high chair. Awesome experience! Iron (no steam) and ironing table is provided. There was a separate corner with sofa and center table. 
 
The toilets are big with standard facilities. Bucket/mug in the toilet was a turn-off for me. There was no bathtub (except in one room). Basic toiletries are supplied – hand soap, shower gel, shampoo etc. Only upon request next day morning, dental kit was provided. However, I feel this should be a standard offering. In one of the rooms, getting uninterrupted hot water was an issue. Not sure what was the problem, but we were told to wait for 30 mins for hot water in the morning. Towels were not so cleaned and were promptly changed. 
 
Due to winter, standard blower was provided, which we felt wasn’t enough for such a big room. Upon request, a separate heater was installed, which indeed provided the comfort. Two small gel heating pads were also provided which we found really helpful. Mattress, sheets and pillows are of good quality.
 
All room opens to the common balcony. Enough furniture are provided for a lazy morning tea under the rising sun. There is no swimming pool. Gym is there, but did not use it. 

Complimentary WiFi (free) was supposed to be available, but was told due to some issues with local telco, it wasn’t accessible during out 2 nights of stay. Hope it was an one-off issue. Free shuttle service to Mall Road is provided, but we did not use it, as we had hired vehicle for 3 days.

Food
The food is something which was the best part of our stay. Everyone enjoyed it. The breakfast area is on the ground floor, however, you can also have the breakfast in the open garden area, under the sun, which we did. Standard mix of Indian and International cuisines. Separate egg station is there, no boiled eggs but you can order and they will make. Personal touch to the breakfast is what we liked most. A day before you can request your options and they will prepare it. First day we requested for Poori Sabji, Noodles for kids and Jalebi. Second day we requested for Chhole Bhature. We had dinner as well there, for both days. Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh (lamb), Paneer, Aloo Gobhi, Gulab Jamun, Daal… everything was superb! We also requested for Pahari Murg and other vegetarian dishes for next day, which they made for us with perfect taste! Kudos to the chef!
 
A special high tea for us (with pakora) on the 2nd day was a nice gesture!

Staff & Service
The staff were very approachable and helpful. Service is prompt. We requested for morning tea in the room, which was served hot. I booked the hotel directly. Thanks to Mr Amit Chauhan (Delhi Booking office), who answered all my queries promptly & provided the best rate and Mr Mohan (at the hotel), who ensured our stay is comfortable.

Improvement
Though we had a great relaxing stay at the hotel, however, I feel there are some rooms for further improvement - provide white, spotless clean towels, fix the water heater issues, modernise the bathrooms (at least remove the bucket/mug), add dental kits, renovate room wooden floorings as they are in a bit worn out condition.
