Hotel rock view is one of the good hotels in pachmarhi, we stayed here for two days. We where here with the booking of our tour operator and food was given by our tour operator. Rooms were good clean and specious. Lift was available but due to frequent power problem not available all the time. Hotel is withing the city area and roads are congested we needed to walk every time to get our vehicle parked far away.

Good hotel

First of all, don't confuse this disappointing property with the MP Tourism department-run Rock End Manor. I ended up being deceived and paid top dollar for an abysmal room at Rock View. The owners of Rock View have left no stone unturned to ensure that customers end up being deceived this way. Most of the photos of the hotel you'll find online are non-genuine; they are of Rock End Manor instead of Rock View. Even the room key chains and tissue-holders say "Rock Manor" instead of Rock View; see the photos I've uploaded. It's apparent that the hotel was named "Rock Manor" – to capitalise unfairly and potentially illegally on the goodwill of the better-known hotel – at some point in time. Likely, the other hotel took notice and forced the change of name to Rock View. Still, the remnants of the older name are visible all around the property, and that is what adds insult to injury.

The property, on its own, is nothing to write home about. Our room on the fourth floor had no WiFi. There is no in-house kitchen or restaurant; the staff sources food from nearby eateries when requested. We stayed at Rock View for three nights and the intercom didn't work properly for the entire duration. The hotel has no proper arrangement for guest car parking. The bathroom of our room, although big, had an open window that had a few glass blinds missing. It was hard taking a hot-water shower with the December Panchmarhi wind flowing in constantly through it. The staff would often switch off the water geyser in the late morning; with the Intercom not working, just getting it switched on again was quite a task.

Many of these discomforts would be non-issues if I'd paid even in the vicinity of Rs. 2500 for a night at this hotel. However, when a hotel charges Rs. 5500-7000 per night, and even higher for walk-ins, with no meals included, you do expect it to deliver at least the basic necessities for a comfortable stay. With Rock View, that is hardly the case.

The only saving grace during our stay was the helpful attitude of Aadil, the guy who manages the front desk. He did arrange vehicles, albeit overpriced supposedly due to the peak season in Panchmarhi, for our sightseeing rather seamlessly, just as he arranged a taxi to Bhopal, where we needed to catch our train back to Delhi. Aadil, my friend, I wish I could add a star to my review for your friendly efforts, but I don't think that'd be fair to other guests evaluating Rock View for a future stay. Your hotel's management has to seriously pull up its socks and stop unfairly misusing and tarnishing the good name of Rock End Manor. Somebody had to call their bluff and I'm taking that initiative.

Until then, my advice to all fellow travellers is to steer clear of Hotel Rock View.
