Awesome Experience

Good location and helpful owner. The boat is located in walking distance to old part of srinagar and also to the boulevard. Waking up you see the shikaras from the balcony, it‘s a peaceful atmoshphere by the lake



Affordable housboat right on dal lake

Yosuf bhaai is a very nice guy. I just booked a houseboat randomly and I totally loved the stay. Delicious home made food and a stunning view of Dal lake !! What more I can ask for !! Picture perfect ! Yosuf bhaai is very helpful and he is familiar with all the routes. He organises treks to some beautiful place which very few know. If you are looking for a reliable, affordable, lovely stay there is no doubt, Houseboat Kolhai is the answer !!

East or west yoosuf bhaai is Best !!

I had some confusion about choosing such a particular accommodation.That's why I booked only one night, waiting to figure out if I had to run away.I stayed there for a week and would have stayed there even longer if I had time.The accommodation, although basic, has features that make it a valuable solution.The owners make you feel their warmth.We cheer you up and they only care about making you feel good.They cook Indian dishes in a typical way at a symbolic price.If you like it, they guide you and arrange your leather.

First experience

We just crushed into Yousuf while we were hassling around with other hotel managers. He was very kind from the first moment and rescued us to his cosy family run house boats at the backside of the Boulevard. The location turned out to be perfect, close enough to shops and the main street but yet far enough away from the noise of the Boulevard. Being behind it gives way to embrace the picturesque lake views from the veranda to the forested hill on the other side. The family is great and actually runs two houseboats which cater for every budget. The price we payed was very good value compared to what I expected. We always had breakfast and dinner on the boat and were fully able to enjoy our cooked to order meals, prepared by the lovely mum of the houseboat owners. The whole family is extremely friendly and attentive, service was exceptional, every wish was fulfilled. Yousuf as himself was absolutely caring for our well being, took care about every situation and helped us a lot with planning the actual stay and our onward journey. We enjoyed our stay at this cosy house boat which surprisingly was completely made out of cedar wood and had relaxing night sleeps in the walnut wooden bed. Srinagar is a perfectly safe place like the whole country of Kashmir itself. The people are amazingly friendly, welcoming and honestly happy about every foreign visitor. Come exploring this holy land and you'll be rewarded with lots of genuine smiles and heart warming moments. Visiting Kashmir feels light years away from mainland India and you'll never forget your remarkable stay with Yousuf and his family on the mystique Dal Lake.

Perfect Houseboat Homestay

The most delightful view from the living room and from the stern of the houseboat in Srinagar. The morning clock is fantastic! It's like a fairy tale. A big plus - a houseboat off the coast, you can come and go at any time without problems. The owner is the embodiment of hospitality. He can become your guide, accompany you on a walk around the city, help with the organization of tours around the lake, gardens or the surrounding area. At the same time - very delicate. Please note that the boat is very old. You are in the 19th century. When it was cold, the owner brought in pots with coals to warm the bed. With the hot water supply problems - we were brought every morning hot water in buckets. Romance ))) And, the hotelier helped with getting sim-card. Please note that there is no roaming in Kashmir.

 Internet connection is not always stable. Although this is not the problem of this place, but the whole of Srinagar.



Cheap and romance rest far from civilization

I want to share real picture of this fraud Houseboat owner Mr.Yusuf

Location : located in very dirty area of dal lake.no proper lights
Food : he dun have any professional cook they cook byself & quality food is ridiculous.
Washroom : very dirty.lack of basic facility's like flush , jet , leakage in pipes no hot water supply... He will ask you to put buckets of water to flush out very funny
Room : no arrangements to lock room and Windows everything is completely open means your belongings are at high risk of theft
No Wifi 
He cheated with us & provided cab at higher prices then market 
No staff for room service
Peripheral of boat is very dirty & full of waste 
He will show you snaps of other Houseboat & provide you another
