Of the 21 different accommodations we stayed at during our 6 week road trip through Southern India this was one of our very favorites! We wished we had scheduled a longer stay to soak in the the tranquil environment. Between the staff and the setting it was just fantastic. 
The manager Divya was just the right amount of attentive and was always available if needed. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The naturalist Sujith was a wonderful guide and happily answered all our many questions. We saw lots of wildlife on our jeep safaris and learned a lot from him. 
Our small group of 4 had two of the rooms in the lodge and one of the tents and all were so nicely appointed with all the amenities etc needed. The tent was awesome and we loved our little deck. There is a pool there and a few different options for sitting outside watching nature including an observation area (covered) at the top of the lodge. 
The dining room was lovely but the food was a triumph. Sunil, the chef, led a team that delivered an impressive variety of delicious dishes meal after meal. One member of our group has a very specific and serious food allergy that isn't very common and instead of taking the easy road and serving her plain rice, bread veggies the chef produced wonderful dishes for her that she said were the best of the trip. We happened to be there for my birthday and I was so surprised to be served a chocolate birthday cake created by the chef. What a treat! 
We whole heartily recommend Kaav Safari Lodge and encourage you to stay an extra day just for the beauty of the lodge and surroundings itself.

Fabulous stay - highly recommended

Located next to the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary this is an intimate & quite a special place to stay. There are only 7 rooms in the entire lodge including 2 up market tents, a seperate cottage with its own pool & 4 rooms in the main building. There is also a swimming room.

I was in one of the large tents with a huge bed, timber floors, aircon & and fan as well as a beautiful bath elevated above the huge bedroom. There is a seperate walk in shower & toilet. 

All meals are included cooked by a team of very capable cooks. Lunch and dinner are a variety of Indian dishes served individually. The food was way too plentiful & very delicious. 

The lodge will arrange safaris to the park as well as river safaris and will drive you to the various pick up points. However it is recommended to book your safaris in advance as seats are allocated by lodges & go quickly. 

The property is covered in a canopy of beautiful trees and bamboo. It is located in the countryside so there are no shops & the only activities are the safaris, eating and relaxing. There is wifi fast enough for emails & occasion streaming if you are so inclined. There is definitely no TV. 

The main building with a deck overlooking the park on the third floor & the four guest rooms on the first floor is not very architecturally attractive & doesn’t complement the surroundings, but the guest rooms are lovely. However I would recommend staying in one of the two tents, it’s top end glamping!!

One thing I was disappointed in was the minimal interaction with the host couple. There was no information about the property or what was included & not included, no checking on guests at dinner & not even a goodbye. It was all a bit lazy. At these prices I would have expected far more from them. The rest of the Indian staff were however excellent.

Up Market Glamping

I had a very bad experience at Kaav Safari Lodge, Kabini. The Manager Mr. Matthew was unhelpful and rude. They cancelled my booking and could not provide an honest reason for the same. Their staff is unprofessional. This year, please employ more decent people to look after the property and it's customers. Such a sad and regretful experience at Kaav Safari Lodge, Kabini.

Bad Experience

This place has all you can ask for if you are looking for a peaceful hideaway with a unique atmosphere and location. Situated right at the border of the national park and with only 7 rooms it offers a perfect spot for complete relaxation. Staff is amazing and the naturalist is even better. Safaris in the forest as well as on the river is obviously a must and very addictive. Food is great and rooms are very well designed and maintained.

A unique and beautiful experience

What a lovely place to be based for visiting the game reserve. We stayed in one of the superior rooms which was extremely comfortable and well equipped with a lovely terrace overlooking the grounds. The food is fabulous- some of the best we had during our 30 day trip.

Lovely Safari Lodge

Highly recommended in every way. Excellent food and service, friendly staff and very comfortable accommodation. Their Manager Divya was particularly helpful, and very knowledgeable about the environment and all things relating to the safari.

Excellent in every way

Stunning tents and rooms (the tents are not on the ground), beautifully furnished. Service and food were very good. We were there in shoulder season (April) and not many other guests so had pool pretty much to ourselves but be aware only four sunbeds  Short distance from the Nagerhole National Park. We loved our time here and would thoroughly recommend

Great stay in beuatiful rooms

Amazing place, just outside the Tiger Reserve. Staff and service  - perfection!  The hotel guide (who we were lucky enough to have with us on one jeep drive and one boat safari) was really great at explaining all the nature, the admin and reception at the hotel were friendly and efficient and I cannot praise the cook and waiting staff enough - food was divine. Everyone seemed glad we were there and went out of their way to make our stay excellent. Early morning wake up for the game drive was kindly done with tea and fruit and the evening meals were just wonderful - we had our last meal on the top balcony overlooking the nighttime park. Nice room, comfortable even with an extra bed, and very nice sitting places in various nooks if you wanted to be by yourself and read or write your diary. Lovely pool. Highly recommended. (and we saw 5 tigers on 3 trips into the park, which isn't guaranteed of course but gave us a really good buzz)

Excellent service, amazing food, great place.

We have stayed in few safari lodges in India , Sri Lanka and Tanzania , Kaav is among the very best . From check in to check out we had 3 magical days at Kaav . We stayed in one if the tents , which was everything you could wish for , comfortable, stylish and everything worked . The meals were stunning , so much variety , interest and so tasty . The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble . The whole area and vibe was of tranquillity , laid-back charm  and nature . The pool area was lovely with many birds to entertain . The wifi throughout was strong . The safaris ( 2 jeep and 1 boat ) were excellent - be  aware of the pricey park charges  for foreign tourist cameras and lenses : according to focal length . We would totally recommend Kaav for your Kabini stay  it is a beautiful , well thought out and managed resort , where as a guest you felt welcome and cared for.

A little oasis of calm

We stayed here for 3 nights as a base for visiting Nagarhole National Park. It's a fabulous small lodge with all of the modern comforts of a luxury hotel in a rural location. We had a lovely welcome from Vaanya and the dogs. 
Our room was large and modern with a big comfortable bed. We had a  large terrace overlooking the park. There are two washbasins and a separate shower, all spotlessly clean. The food was delicious, all served on an open terrace overlooked by the kitchen. Every need was catered for, if you were going on an early morning safari, tea or coffee and snacks were delivered to your room.
There were plenty of communal areas for sitting and looking over the park. There was also a swimming pool. 
The safaris were well organised. Warm shawls were offered for the chilly early mornings. The lodge jeeps were used to take guests to a meeting point where we were transferred to official park jeeps or boats. The best safaris by far were those where we were accompanied by the Kaav resident naturalist, Sujith. His passion for nature and his determination to find wildlife for guests really made the trip special. We saw so many animals and did finally see a tiger thanks to his efforts. 
I'm looking for an excuse to return!
