Wi-Fi worked very poorly if at all. The shower was so moldy it was stomach-turning to take a shower. The staff understood very little English which made things difficult. (They cater to English speaking tourists so it would helpful if they spoke English). But the location is great!

Hotel Ganges View, Varanassi

I was delighted to return to Hotel Ganges View.  It is an outstanding place to stay with friendly staff, good food, and a wonderful location on the Assi ghat, close to the Harmony Bookshop. I would not think of staying anywhere else in Varanasi. The hotel has real character with beautiful furniture, artwork and ornaments.  If you come to Varanasi, please consider this hotel. It is not a modern bland characterless hotel; it is unique and delightful.

An outstanding place to stay

I changed my initial review (the initial review only given because of the balcony view) and have now decided to give this hotel a one star simply because of the reply given. The owner of the hotel deliberately took out the caps lock from t in thank you whilst it was there on all other review replies. Whilst I understand this may seem like a petty nit-pic to some, you have to deliberately take the caps lock out the first letter when starting to type no matter what device or software it may be. They clearly did this to let me know I’m no one special to them. This is enough to show you that the hotel owners are Hindu extremist zealots who do not wish to do any business with Indian religious minorities like myself and I thank them for letting me know this. Apart from Non-Indian origin foreigners, If you like me are an Indian non-Hindu AVOID this place as this company doesn’t want you in their hotel.

AVOID hotel if you are non-Hindu Indian

Ganges View is tasteful in every way. The hotel is a treasure trove of local & regional art, the hospitality is reminiscent of a bygone era, the food is to die for. It’s located right on the Ghat with a popular pizza place & the best bookstore in Benares literally 2 minutes away. 

Very Highly Recommended !

This is a fabulous family run hotel featuring beautiful and meticulously tended balcony gardens, comfy beds, nice decor, and most of all, a great location right on the Sacred Ganges. The food was delicious and vegetarian. For you omnivores looking for a lunch or dinner outside of the hotel, there is a fabulous, reasonable Italian restaurant a few doors down. The owners promptly answered all of our questions and addressed any issues, no matter how small. The hotel itself softly speaks to guests with a voice from the past, but all of the modern amenities. Thank you to the management and staff for making our stay so special!

Dog lovers - there is an adorable resident dog and the staff put out food/water for the occasional wandering street dog - wonderful people!


Wonderful, local hotel right on the Ganges!

Hotel ganges View is an exquisite property right on the Assi Ghat of the Ganges.   Manager Prakash and owner Shishank are two of the most friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable I met in Varanasi.   Their hotel is beautifully appointed, in an ideal location, and offers a delicious home-style buffet meal for their guests.
Prakash and his team provided great assistance in managing the places I wanted to get to and helped me locate some of the special souvenirs I was looking for.   I highly recommend this property and if you have a chance to stay their, you too will share my opinion of this top Varanasi hotel.

Could not have been Better

This is a lovely heritage hotel near Assi Ghat, full of art and with a very homely atmosphere. The place has an old-world charm and the owner as well as the staff, especially Ramanuj, the manager, are very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Of course, Varanasi is quite confusing and chaotic, especially the traffic... and the airport is quite a distance. But, most of the major attractions are within reasonable (... depends on how you interpret reasonable) distance and you can get a boat or tuk-tuk  within 2-3 minutes of the Ganges View.

The food at the hotel is nice and homely, but you may have to order your lunch or dinner in advance.

A very interesting hotel, no doubt.

Art Hotel On Assi Ghat

One of the finest properties in Varanasi owned by a very old family of Varansi. The rooms have a heritage touch and are very well appointed. We enjoyed our stay there the food is very nice  and homely the staff is very friendly and cooperative. Kudos to the owner

Lovely Stay at Assi ghat

This guesthouse gives you such a homely feel.The place is so pretty with beautiful artifacts and paintings at every nook and corner that you feel you are in the bygone Era.Food is pure veg and excellent .We were a girls group and the staff as well as our rickshaw and taxi drivers who were personally known to the hotel dropped us at the doorstep of the hotel after dusk.The bathrooms are modern and rooms are clean .The only drawback was that the Ganga river had risen so we had to access the hotel thru the back alley as the frront entrance steps were flooded.Overall we had an awesome experience. 

A step back in the lovely bygone era

on one of my walk in varanasi i came across this property n walked in to check it out .. n what a pleasant surprise it was ..
the owners live on the premises on a separate floor ~ this reflects in the cleanliness n the positive staff attitude !
the property has no sign board ~ n it doesn’t need one for its positive word of mouth & reviews .
top location on assi ghat.
fabulous art work on display through out the property .
well maintained period furniture.
home atmosphere with professional service .
attentive , alert n alert staff.
home cooked delicious food.
& all the above at an very reasonable price !
