Villa Jacaranda is a beautiful guesthouse in Varkala. We stayed in room 4 on the top floor, which has a fabulous terrace, with views to the sea and also the garden below. An easy walk down to the beach or to the temple or over to North Cliff.
It was our favourite accommodation in Kerala and a lovely place to relax and just watch the birds or read.
The room was spacious and very comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic, with lovely fruit salads and home made bread.
Ajay and his staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Would highly recommend.

Beautiful guesthouse

Thank you for making our stay here at Villa Jacaranda an oasis of calm and tranquility.  We had a wonderful “doing-nothing” two weeks here.  You, your staff, Romy (the dog) & Mrs & Mrs Duck were kind, helpful and just plain lovely!  This place is such a special place – many a pleasant and lovely evening spent on our veranda.  Need to mention the splendid and magnificent garden – a verdant and fragrant oasis of 20 years of love and hard work. Breakfast was as big or as small as you want and gorgeous, from the fruit salad every morning and 'burji' (south Indian scrambled eggs), homemade brown bread, toasted to tea/coffee or both!  The room was so tastefully decorated, with a mixture of Asian/Indian touches and European furniture.  Fresh flowers were brought to our room everyday from the garden to all locations, including our room, bathroom and veranda.  Mosquito coils were left 'uncoiled' ready for us to use - little touches, but showing attention to details which makes the difference. We highly recommend Villa Jacaranda, Ajay and his staff. With deep appreciation and wonderful memories to last a lifetime - thank you all for everything.  We hope we will be back someday in the not so distant future. 

An Oasis of Tranquility

My third stay at Ajay's place and Villa Jacaranda keeps fulfilling what a holiday is meant to be. Very tastefully decorated and spottlessly clean, all while set around a lush and plentiful flowering garden. The owner Ajay and his staff made us feel very welcome and always taken care of. We enjoyed the lazy mornings sleeping in, on an excellent hard mattress and pillow, to the sound of birds and ducks until a delicious breakfast was served on the terrace outside the room. Reading and watching the birds and squirrels that visit the terrace and going for a swim just below the cliff for a change. For food there is a wide choice of restaurants available at South Cliff or in town. Alcohol is not everywhere available due to local laws, but keep asking and often enough a beer or cocktail will be served, hidden in  a large coffee mug. Visits to the  temple or massage/health center just around the corner are highly recommended. Ajay can arrange affordable transport to wherever you might want to visit. Tuk-Tuk stand is just in front of the door for spontaneous short-distance travels.

a fantastic experience

What a slice of paradise! Staying with Ajay in his beautiful guesthouse was a highlight of our time in Kerala. The lush tropical garden creates a private sanctuary and each guestroom is large, comfortable and tastefully decorated with local antiques, colorful fabrics and fresh flowers. We loved the delicious breakfast of fresh fruit and home-baked bread served each morning on our private veranda. Ajay is a delight to spend time with - full of joy, great stories and excellent recommendations (and help arranging) for local eateries, massages, activities, shopping and more. Ajay has a true eye for style, creative flair and details which really sets his place apart. We also loved his sweet cocker spaniel Romey and Mr & Mrs Duck waddling around the courtyard. Villa Jacaranda is one of a kind - a true gem in Varkala. We hope you can experience it's wonderful serene ambiance and Ajay's warm and generous hospitality - we will definitely be back!

Absolute gem 💎

Ajay is one of the rudest host ever. He did not kept the price promised and was very rude on the phone with us when we explained him the situation hanging up on us.
Even if it is indeed a nice place, just this behaviour is not acceptable and certainly not worth the price you pay for it.

We were wholeheartedly welcomed by Ajay and his staff! The guesthouse is very clean and breaths Everything what Kerala I all about: Nice colors, relax, southern, … hence the perfect stay! Wonderful stay

Located in a quiet place, a short walk away from the beach, this property is quite beautifully maintained, and immediately gives homely vibes. Jai was a wonderful host and every conversation with him was a charm. The breakfast is wholesome and very tasty. One small note, when we stayed, no food other than breakfast was available. Would be great if some (even if limited) options are made available for lunch or dinner.

A wonderful honely stay..

I visited Varkala in October 2022 and stayed in this amazing place. Villa Jacaranda is a very comfortable place to stay. We had booked the room with balcony and sea view facing. The place is well maintained and the host is very friendly and helpful in all possible ways. We were hosted by Jayadeep. The place offers some really wholesome breakfast. Jayadeep suggested us cafés and things to do and helped us plan our days. He was very kind in helping us rent scooters and even called for cabs and tuktuk as per our recruitment. The place is in very close proximity to the beach. It’s just a road walk down. I highly recommend Villa Jacaranda for stay in Varkala.

Amazing Stay

Our recent and short stay at Villa Jacaranda was all
things lovely. The room on the second floor was
spacious and warm. Bonus was a large terrace filled
with plants and views of the sea. The villa is decorated
tastefully and Ajay, Jai and their team of the house
staff were kind and helpful at all times. The house also
has a resident pooch! A sweet and very shy cocker
spaniel, Romy. We felt the best part is the location,
tucked away in the south cliff and far from the hustle
and bustle of the north cliff, this place is a find.

Villa Jacaranda - a hidden gem

Villa Jacaranda built and owned by Ajay is an absolute delight on the south cliff in Varkala town. The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious. Attention to detail is wonderful from the carefully chosen furniture, pretty bed linen, complimentary toiletries and clean white towels. The garden is gorgeous in a central courtyard. Staff are caring and attentive. Ajay is a wonderful host yet unobtrusive and very knowledgeable if help is needed. Your welcome will be warm and your stay guaranteed to be very happy. If a little piece of paradise is what you are looking for amidst all the hustle and bustle of the town, then this is it.
