We followed a fairly tradition itinerary where we stayed here overnight, did a day trip to Mount ijen in the morning and then departed the next day. 

I would say this accomodation is somewhere between a hostel and boutique hotel. The cabins are very comfortable with air conditioning, comfortable beds, mosquito netting and private bathrooms. However the outdoor area is a bit more of a hostel/communal vibe with shared kitchen and open gazebo living space with book exchange etc. There is also a self service fridge where you record what you consume and pay at the end. There is a pool but we didn’t use it. It’s got a kind of worn but cool grittiness to it that I imagine Ubud would’ve been like before it became over commercialised.

There isn’t a lot to see in this town outside of a daytrip to ijen so its position on the periphery of town is not a major issue. There isn’t however any restaurant or warungs around but a food delivery service is available and breakfast was provided as part of the booking which was delicious and reasonably priced.

Staff are very friendly. 

On the negative side we did lose water in our shower for an extended period of time which was problematic after getting back from a rainy hike on Mount ijen. 

Overall great value and I would recommend it to other non fussy travellers.

Friendly hotel/hostel in an interesting up and coming destination in eastern Java

Unfortunately my husband and I only spend one night before the trek to Ijen
The team is very friendly and cute. They helped us organize the hike to Injen/blue fire (special thanks to our guide Udini) and to order dinner since we arrived late in the evening.
The place is cozy and relaxing, you feel right at home. The room was very clean and the shower huge!

Wonderful place

A great homestay before the trek to Ijen Volcano. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and Wi-Fi is useable. There is also a mosquito net. Bathroom showers are hot and towels are provided. They also offer food delivery service until 9pm for very cheap which is perfect if you arrive late. Staff are friendly and location is good. Would recommend.

Good stay before volcano trek

Didu's Homestay is like a home away from home. The rooms are big, comfortable, quiet, and I had a view on the beautiful garden. The common areas/ garden are homey, well equipped, and there is everything you need to relax, work or whatever else. The location is a bit outside from the center, but that makes it easier to reach Ijen, waterfalls, and other sights just outside the city.
The hosts, Maya and Djoko are just wonderful. They have tons of great tips and are extremely friendly and caring. Definitely a place to recommend!

The place to be in Banyuwangi

Rural location, friendly staff, cozy bungalows...this place sure checks all my boxes...no TV in the room but there's a common living room with books and a flatscreen...a common kitchen too, with free coffee and tea...wifi is a tad slow but bearable

Cozy and relaxing

This place a perfect spot for staying if you decide to to go to the Mount Ijen.
First of all I would like to mention it’s very pretty and relaxing hotel( guest house) in this region. I was so happy my husband found it, I didn’t really want to leave but we had to continue our trip by Indonesia. 
Well, we  had a tour starting at 2:30 in the morning, as most people do.
The Team of the hotel was very kind and attentive and give us some breakfast  ( a selection of biscuits) and water with us. 😋 It was a very right choice as we had to clime up so much. As soon as we came back they offered to choose a breakfast while we taking a shower( which is so right and saved us so much time)
Also they let us sleep longer and made late check out🙏

Also you might be surprise you need to wash your dishes after yourself, but it makes you be a part of this family place:-) If you want a drink, they trust you and let you take it from the fridge and just write down the room number and what you had during your staying, which is so cool:-)

Amazing place with relaxing atmosphere and very kind Team

I am writing this on the last evening of our stay at Didu’s homestay.

The entire stay has been fantastic in every way. The staff here are zealously friendly and helpful, as if you were family. The rooms are luxurious for what one would expect with large and comfortable double beds in private chalets that surround a central communal area. They provide very tasty, hearty and reasonably priced breakfasts (including freshly pressed juice, fresh fruit, pancakes or toast and similar items) and a take away option to
order in lunches and dinners. There is a well stocked fridge with everything that you could want for a relaxing stay.

Some people have commented that the local mosque’s call to prayer impeded their stay which is both ridiculous and naive, if you are visiting a predominately Muslim country and are antagonised by this I suggest you find some other, less cultural or indeed genuine destination. The mosque is fairly nearby but none of the guests during our stay were bothered by it. 

It is an excellent base for Ijen and they offer their own partnership tour company or you can arrange to be picked up by any of the other numerous tours. 

They also have an excellent network of local services from drivers, massages, food, tickets for travel onwards etc and will help you in arranging such matters. 

While we were here they were also quietly working on their next development - a swimming pool which will be a great addition.

I would like to thank all the staff for being so welcoming (as appears to be the general theme in every hostel or homestay that we have visited across Indonesia)

Perfect Stay

Beautiful place, but if your goal is a good night’s sleep, this is a difficult stay. I was woken up multiple times in the night by various loud noises — the call to prayer at 4am, a dog barking, a rooster crowing, and a power tool running for half an hour. Most of the rooms have straw walls and no insulation, so I had to endure these at full volume. Everything else about this homestay was perfect, but I had one of the worst nights of sleep since traveling for 3 months.

NOISES were impossible; poor sleep

Didu's Homestay is a great place to relax, unwind, and take in the natural and cultural beauty of East Java. Maya and Djoko are wonderful hosts, and were always helpful when it came to recommending things to do and places to see.

While the homestay is in a quiet village area, I didn't have a problem ordering Go-Jek or Grab to take me to Banyuwangi city centre, and it's fairly close to the train station as well. The homestay breakfasts are great, and there are good food options available for delivery. But remoteness aside, I really loved the location and being immersed in Javanese village life.

Beautiful & Relaxing Homestay in Rural Java

This place is in a beautiful setting and has lovely seperate houses for rooms. It's in a garden setting which is a great place to relax. 
The owner Maya and her husband were warm,friendly and helpful from start to finish. The included breakfast was delicious and well presented. 
Highly recommended and would stay here again!
