Visited this Hotel 20 years ago (not in 2022), so I don't think my Review would be much relevant to this day but I can ensure you that Pusako Hotel was one of the most decent hotel in Bukittinggi, it might look old fashioned but it is close to tourist area in the city, so you are certainly will get the best deal in Pusako

Old Fashioned but Decent

In March 2019, we went on a nine-day tour of Sumatra. I had read reviews of Hotel Pusako in Bukittingi and was prepared for the worst. The hotel was fine for a passing hotel (2 nights). Pusako is a large hotel with many rooms and long corridors. Everything is very bright, so it has become louder. As for the food, the employees have worked very hard to satisfy us and cook us extra as desired!

The positive thing here is the friendly staff. The rooms and the facility itself were certainly nice once, but that was 30 years ago. This is particularly noticeable in the bathroom. In my bathroom there was some leakage, so the floor was regularly wet. Cleanliness is fine.

We 'll have to do something.

It’s a huge hotel, the staff are friendly, the view are amazing. But, it really needs a major upgrade. Bathroom, molds everywhere, there’s no hot water at all. Bedroom, tv’s still boxy, there’s no curtain so i think people can see my room. Did I mention that this is a huge hotel? And I’m is the only guest in there. So 3,5/5 

Good hotel... if it’s 1995

Big spacious room ... on mountain top ... nice view of plantation .. morning walk downhill is pleasant with the clean moenibg dew everyday without fail ... great indonesian breakfast .. breakfast on the balcony 

Pusako Hotel Stay 19 okt to 21 okt

Old hotel which requires MAJOR refurbishment. Perhaps it was grand in its peak during 1990s when it was still managed by Sol Meliá. Sadly, now the grand ambiance is just a history.

The hallway is dark and eerie. Minimum lighting. So is the room. Old TV with very few local channels.

The bathroom is abit dirty with alot of mold. There's no nozzle. 

We stayed there two nights because we couldn't find any other hotels due to long weekend. 

This hotel has reputation for being spooky. Didn't want to believe it. But, in our first night, we barely slept as we heard something (like furniture) being dragged above us, people stepping and running above us and children laughing. These sounds started at about 10 p.m and on and on. We complained to reception three times and they said they've reminded the guests occupying the room above ours. 

In the morning, when we complained again, the staff said that the room above us was empty. Weird. 

The food is ok. 

The staffs are friendly.



Would not pick this if I had other options

I stayed here for 3 nights for a group meeting. 
The meeting room "Dang Tuanku" ballroom was the best part of the stay: venue is spacious; good lighting;  smart, friendly, quick responses of the banquet team (although hard to find when needed).
The hotel room was old (example: old facilities,  full tube television,not flat TV ;)) , yet clean. Toileteries was very basic. We are the only group during the weekday, and it was packed starting Friday afternoon. 
Food: somehow every meal we have was very salty. However, there are various of small local food shop with reasonable price, out of the hotel.  

If you have flexibility in budget,I would recommend you pick other place to stay, and maybe better near the Jam Gadang Area. 


You get what you paid for

The second day we had a leak in the bathroom pool unattended and looks dirty and unfiltered lunch right for dinner it's best to go to town the staff seems to wander around this hotel and it's not managed

We stayed here for 3 nights. This is an old hotel and really need a refurbishment. 
The staff were good. Our room was a bit dirty and the swimming pool was dirty as well. the food at the restaurant was so so.

I'm very disappointed in Agoda and booking.com. Calling a barbecue a hotel and having four stars is simply a scam. So far I've been convinced by Agoda and booking.com and it's always been well served. Maybe the gentlemen themselves should take a picture of what's being offered here as a four-star hotel for a proud room price. Here's my experience summed up:
