Booked for 2 nights, expecting to get a 'Waterfront, park view" room. Instead we got a room very close to the swimming pool that is open until late, and is open to the public. It's so noisy. On Saturday night they have live music playing loudly from the pool restaurant.

Some of the ponds surrounding the rooms are dirty with uncollected garbage.

The room is small and dark,and under-maintained. Sitting in the balcony is unpleasant because of the close proximity to the swimming pool, and people get an unobstructed view into our room.

The wifi is useless. We ended up having to tether our devices to our phones for internet connection.

The only saving graces of this place are the helpful and courteous room and front office staff, and the kitchen staff who makes good food.

Even Low Expectations Don't Help

I really love the rooms, made of mostly wood, so it makes us warmer. And the bathroom with bog bed tub that can be filled with warm natural water. So relaxing. If only I have time to explore I might find more nice place to play or just sit in the park.

Green and nice woody place to stay

The location and the hot pool are the forte of this place. It's located very beautifully around many mountains. You can even go for a quick early morning hike to the foot of Mount Guntur directly from the hotel on foot. The landscape of the hotel is also very pretty. You can find many unique trees around the garden.

Most of the accommodation type are on a bungalow built above water. A very unique concept. The water are all warm, from the swimming pool, the tap, the shower even to the pool surrounding the bungalows. It's naturally warm water. The water comes from a spring water source that is geothermally warmed. Some of the bungalows have their own private warm water pool with jet streams. The pool can be quite slippery as there is no chlorine put in the water. It's nonetheless a nice place to relax.

The room is very minimally maintained. Things are functional, but may not be up to the standard of other hotel with international chains for example. The bed sheet can be quite dusty upon arrival and some door handles can be loose. It's an old hotel that has been around for many decades. The cleanliness has many room for improvements. An extra point is the couple suit bungalow that I stayed in has its own water dispenser, which is handy in a place where tap water is not always potable.

The breakfast variety is quite standard for Indonesian hotels. Some rice porridge, fried rice, 2 or 3 other alternating dishes, an egg station, plus toasts. The plus points are the coffee that is grown locally and their self baked breads. It's self service coffee to be made in "tubruk" style. The bread is very soft and rather tasty.

Overall, it's quite a nice place to stay. In terms of price, it's also quite reasonable. if you're looking for experience and a relaxing place to dip in a warm pool, this is definitely the place. You just need to lower your expectation on room cleanliness.

beautiful place with minimum room maintenance

Bed bugs..  Expensive room but without adequate and proper maintenance. overall rating is based on the level of cleanliness. It's actualy a nice spot for a staycation but need much better maintenance.

We got bitten by bed bugs. 
We rented the room for 1 night for the price of 2 million IDR (Slightly more than 1 month minimum wage in the area which is at 1.8 million IDR/month). So we expect good quality room. The Suite Couple 1 can only be booked online on their website and/or direct call to the hotel. The suite has 2 rooms of 1 king size bed and 1 queen size bed. The price includes breakfast for 4 people and free entrance to the big common pool. You can bring up to 5-6 people as long as you don't mind squeezing in. They just don't have extra bed (if I'm not mistaken). You can have the additional breakfast with 90k/person. The room is spacious (as you can see from the picture), but LACK OF CLEANLINESS IS A BIG DOWNSIDE. in both of the beds, we got bed bugs bites all over our bodies (see picture for the bites on our feet). There were ants on the floor and in some corners are very dusty. Not as clean as we thought it should be. We make jokes that the bites are some souvenir from Garut! Recommendation: Clean more, dry your bed out in the sun regularly.

We didn't eat outside but the minimarket is about 15 mins away. The scenery is beautiful in the front area with mountains as background. And about 20 mins away from the central of the city.

Our room has private hot jacuzzi and private pool. It was amazing. This is actually the highlight of the stay and what we paid for. But unfortunately in some corners, the pool is mossy. They clearly don't clean it enough. The private pool is too hot to use after 8 am and before sunset as there is no umbrella/cover. Scoring is mostly for the cleanliness. Recommendation: Clean the pool & the surrounding areas more regularly. Put a roll-able shade over the private pool so we can enjoy the pool from late afternoon as well. 

They have common pool, but we didn't go try it out, mini outbond spot, big gardens, and run-down ponds (which makes for mosquitos in the afternoon). 

Restaurant (2.5/5)
Breakfast didn't offer much. Just a regular white bread, strawberry jam, fried rice, one type of cereal + milk, green bean + black sticky rice porridge, and few other indonesian dishes. Breakfast is 6-10 am and many of them are no longer available when we went at 8.30 am. 
We ordered smoked beef pizza in the evening and it looked nothing like pizza. The dough is more similar to the american brand of pizza and the topping is too creamy. But it's still okay though. Nothing too surprising.

Bed Bugs in Suite Couple 1

family holiday and a birthday present for the second child ... the atmosphere is like in a village, it's cool, it's quiet, there's a fish pond ... the rooms are big enough ... wooden floors and a bathtub to soak ... warm water from the mountains ... a pool  large swimming pool with warm water ... mountain view ... I stayed in bungalow 12 .. what needs to be improved is the cleanliness of the room for wooden floors, fish ponds, the breakfast is less varied ...

Good view of landscape and as well as breakfast. Enough delicious. Room looks old, even comfort to stay, especially in terrace. walking path above the water from wood/board, many broken, need to repairing new on or replace the board.
Good spring pool, but unfortunately no provide traditional drink on sundanesse (bajigur) as usual.

Stay in the Sumber Alam Hotel

this resort which is very suitable for staycation.  the view, the bungalows,  foods, are amazing.  There was a problem during my stay, but one of the staff Mr. Rizal, was very helpful, he moved my room to be more comfortable.  thank you for the experience given.

Sumber Alam is nicely located with Volcanic Mountain in the background, which is quite scenic and nice mountain hiking
Each room has built in onsen with hot natural spring water, vert relaxing indeed to soak oneself or with intimate partner, after a hard day's work
Garut is famous for leather cottage industries, with lots of small tanneries and leather goods shops 
Bring along plug adaptor is beneficial, mosquito repellant might be needed because rooms are not screened nor mosquito netted on bed, lighting is a bit dark, but if you just don't mine and look at the better side, it could be a very relaxing and wonderful experience

But if one is willing to over look all these by reminding oneself, that one is living in Indonesian country side, very far from civilization and just enjoy what's available,  this can be very interesting.
One can still go on horse carriage ride, which is no longer available in many places, staying here is totally relaxing and enjoyable, I will say..

Kampung sumber alam has good facilities such as mini outbond, mini waterpark, mini private pool, hotspring, gazebo, and restaurant. Very highly recomended if you guys looking for fresh air, beautiful nature with great view, and nice weather, n also kids friendly.
