I read many reviews about this place before I booked it, but it was cheap & in the area I wanted to be at. Pemogan isn’t known as a tourist area, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. I was greeted with a smile on arrival, helped with my luggage to my room. The room was a bit smelly at first, but that is the drains, nothing a bit of air freshener couldn’t fix. I found this accommodation to be well worth it. It was definitely better than some other westerners have said it is. But this is certainly not a place to stay if you are planning on spending your time in Kuta, unless you have a motorcycle. It was an absolute pleasure staying at pondok taman & will certainly be staying there again

You get what you pay for

Landed in Bali at 1.30am with my friend. We had warned the hotel we wouldn't be arriving until after 2am. 
When we arrived there was nobody there and no obvious sign that we were in the correct place. There was no reception and what looked to be an office was deserted. As 2 lone female travellers landing in a new country this was terrifying. We had nowhere to go and were stranded in the middle of the night unsure of where we were going to sleep as there was nobody around to give us a room. 
We rang the hotel 7 times but nobody answered. Finally after 45 minutes a man came out of the bedroom next to the office. He had clearly been asleep. He didn't speak a word of English and didn't apologise for our very long and terrifying wait.
When we arrived at the room it was dirty and the bedsheets were ripped. There were holes in the door that had been taped up. We also had a back door in our room that was unlocked!
Not the safest and most comforting place.
After a sleepless night we tried to explain to the new man in the office what had happened but he didn't seem to understand due to the language barrier.
We will not be returning!

Worst experience ever

I checked in on 8 january 2017, i stayed with my friend, i arrived in the evening at 6, first i knew that the air conditioner didn't work so i taught that it would work later so i sat outside, until i slept at 10, the room still warm then i decided to sleep but at 1 am i couldn't sleep because the air conditioner didn't work properly and the room so hot. Then i slept on the floor but i couldn't sleep well! Can u image that. I want to sleep early because i will go to airport at 5 am. But at that night i couldn't sleep! So please check your room before giving to the guest!! I am very dissapointed with this room. The room number is 28
