I ,ve staied 1 night there..its nice place...owner very friendly..good. Breakfast... And becareful to some one who are competette with this place..always say bed about this place..just trust your self..and think rational..imposible the owner make  bed ..while they know its theyrsproperty..theyrs life.. Of course they will take care reputation...image..dont be eazyer to believe to simple way of main

Great place cheap hotel...frendly owner

As our booked homestay in Pemo Village was blocked by roadworks, our guide had to ask around for a free room in Moni at 9pm in the night and dropped us here. The room was ok clean, but with torn linen and smelly cover. Bathroom a joke, no light, bare toilet with manual plastic ladle, cold shower. Sewage from sink in main room freely floats through bath room, no towels. Water was completely shut off in the morning. Breakfast was two sugared donuts, which we ignored. Walls thin, you hear every word from outside and the neighbor rooms. Son of owner asked for immediate payment of 450k IDR for the night. Well, the agency fortunately paid and can start argueing later...

Avoid!

We met a guy on the bus by the name of 'Jackie' who said he was a tour guide, and he took us to his aunts home stay - the sign out front says Mama Moni Inn now, but any locals we spoke to said it was Maria Inn. The room itself was cheap, including breakfast, and very basic. Was ok except the shower didn't work at all and the toilet got blocked - we told Jackie this but he did nothing to try to fix it. Do not agree to any sort of tour or transport with him, as he did no follow through with what was promised at all, and he asked for money upfront - no one else in Flores did this, except maybe for a small deposit to cover fuel etc. Was a very bad experience for us, considering everyone else we met in Flores was very trustworthy.

Do not go here!

We spent two nights in Maria Inn. We were approached by Jack the second we stepped off the bus. We decided to have a look at the rooms. We had spoken to other travellers and knew that 150k was going to be the lowest price we could find in Moni. 

The four concrete rooms at the back are ugly but functional. Mattress was better than some we've had in Flores and it was pretty clean. We paid for one night  at 150 including breakfast. 

This was the first warning sign, in the sales pitch the breakfast was supposedly pancakes, omelettes, but suddenly "breakfast" meant only tea or coffee. We pushed back but after a while it wasn't worth it. The whole time Jack was pushing to offer us tours and transport to anywhere and everywhere which we declined. 

The next day when we asked the owners for our tea they just asked us how much we paid, with a stern face and when we told them 150k no tea or coffee was forthcoming. 

We confirmed we would stay a second night to give us more time to explore Kelimutu and paid Jack a second 150k when we got back. 

Shortly after the owner shouted at us through our door demanding that we pay. He was very upset and was adamant that we were supposed to pay him and not his son, and said that he had only received 100k from us. We explained to him that we had paid a total of 300k for two nights and that if his son was not passing him the money that was not our problem. He stormed off in a huff. 

So, the room itself was okay, a couple of times we had to ask them to turn on the water but it was clean and not on the main road so it was quiet. 

Obviously the son is renting rooms at a higher price than he's telling the parents which puts travellers in a tricky situation. 

If you're on a tight budget it's doable but just be very careful when it comes to payment or any services they offer as there's probably a lie somewhere there.

Crazy owners, cheap accommodation

Maria will at first appear to be a nice person.   She is not.  This lady will extract every cent she can from you.   She will make commitments and then break them.  She lies.
My advice is to find somewhere else  -- anywhere else!
Never pay her until you leave and make a note of everything that may cost you money.   Water is not always available and has to be turned on when needed.
If you are offered a car and driver only pay after the trip, or you will probably end up on a public mini bus with several other folks, and they will not have paid anywhere as much as you have!
Do not stay here unless you have to and be very careful.
