We stayed here for two weeks this February the hotel was in a very good position close to but not too near the harbour area, easy to walk there though.  Lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby. 
The hotel itself was comfortable but tired, pretty grounds and a nice pool area. 
Unfortunately the rooms did required a deep clean , they weren’t awful but just a bit grubby. Some of the accessories were very dirty ie  waste bins/ cushions / seats. 
Breakfast was included but very poor selection and quantities. Not enough to go around all guests. 
Staff were very nice, welcoming and pleasant. 
Overall we had a very relaxed stay .

The Sunrise Hotel

We had a pretty good stay overall--it got better the longer we were here.

Cons:
--I'll admit I didn't have the greatest first impression of the hotel. As others have mentioned, the decor is dated and the rooms could use some TLC (e.g. worn-out curtains, water stains on floors, etc.). It didn't help that half of the towels we received had stains on them (the staff did replace them though when we brought this to their attention). Otherwise, the room was comfortable. 

Pros:
--Solid location, especially if you are looking to dive or snorkel. We got certified at Manta Dive, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. There are several other dive centers on the east side of the island as well. And the snorkeling at the hotel beach is spectacular!
--It's also only a 10 minute walk from the boat terminal--definitely doable without using a horse and carriage.
--The hotel pool is AWESOME. It's large and the deep-end is deep enough to dive into!
--Hotel breakfast is decent--not over the top, but it has you covered. Ask for a homemade banana pancake or an omelette. 
--Staff was generally very nice. There was one member in particular who was just an absolute ray of sunshine--I'm so mad I forgot to write down his name. We were there for our honeymoon and he was the one who arranged the swan towel on our bed when we first arrived. We didn't end up meeting him till the end of the stay though!

There may be better options at a better price point, but this spot ended up working out okay for us as we completed our scuba diving certification.

Not perfect, but definitely more pros than cons

its just beyond words to tell the experience we had. I normally not a fan of writing bad review, where I always preferred to let the establishment directly if there's some flaws etc. However this place is just as bad as some other place with lower price with hostel's category. Let just put my minus bucket list about this terrible place :
1. Filthy and dirty dining tools 
2. Staff are poorly trained and it is so hard to find the staff attention
3.The freaking buzzer from the kitchen is annoying as hell
4.Room is not as good as advertised and the wi-fi signal is keep on losing
5. No hot water in the shower, even when its promised to be fixed
 Highly recommended not to visit

Beyond terrible, check details on my review

One of the most beautiful places on Gili air. This charming little hotel is located directly on the beach front, offering undisturbed views over Lombok. 
The rooms are clean and spacious, bathroom facilities nice, and the bed was perfect. 
The waiting staff was never in a hurry 😅 but when showing up with your order you would never be disappointed! The food was AMAZING, drinks too. The prize in the restaurant is slightly higher than the other close by restaurants and bars, however the servings where bigger and quality at a completely different level, so well worth it. Hotel offers bike rental and boat trips at same prices as what you would pay booking on the Main Street, and has snorkeling gear for guests to use. Pool is fairly big and hidden away from the street offering a nice cool swim always partly in the shades in the beautiful garden

Maybe best stay at Gili air

Way overpriced - should have read previous reviews before booking. We had to request a room change due to the stench of sewage permeating the bathroom and bedroom. 
Resort very run down - needs a complete overhaul- not worth the money in today market. 
Firmly on my list of places to never stay again.

Poor experience- would not return 

I stayed at Sunrise for a week and it was excellent. The highlight of the hotel is definitely it’s position on the beach. Sunrise’s stretch of beach is situated at some of the best off the beach snorkelling on Gili Air - u can swim straight from the beach and reach the reef drop off where you can see lots of fish, coral and turtles. I saw turtles everyday apart from one during my stay. The hotel itself is peaceful and the swimming pool is set back from the beach which ensures an element of privacy. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the hotel has good Wifi and also has 4G signal should you need it. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. In particular Yoga, Tino and Sufan were especially welcoming, amenable and friendly over the course of my stay. The hotel has a very relaxed vibe which fits in well with its surroundings in Gili Air. Their laundry service is great should you need to wash anything - my clothes were washed fast and I received them back very quickly. My only suggestion would be that I think the menu needs to offer a greater variety of local Indonesian dishes - the dinner menu is overwhelmingly Western and whilst the food was good, it would have been nice to see Sunrise’s restaurant offer a few more Indonesian options. Overall a throughly enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel especially if you are keen on snorkelling and wish to stay in a relaxed but smart and comfortable hotel with a fantastic beach location and excellent service. I hope to return to Sunrise in the future !

Fantastic Stay - great beach, great snorkelling and great service.

We stayed for 3 nights at this boutique hotel.
It is really nice hotel, with a great pool area.
But the best is the beach right in front. It is really beautiful, and you can snorkel directly from the beach.
The breakfast is good, they make fresh omelettes and banana pancakes.
We ate dinner two times, directly on the beach, with great food.
The staff is also very friendly.
It is a place we would go back to

Great stay at a relaxing hotel

I just ate the snapper. My wife just had the garlic prawns. Very good food. Situated near snorkelling spots that aren’t overcrowded. There are sun loungers available - you must order 100,000 rupiahs worth of food/drink.

I loved this hotel!
Because it is situated right next to one of the best beach of Gili Air, accessible even at low tide, where you can see all sorts of fish and turtles a few meters away from the beach. Unfortunately there is no room with direct sea view but still.
Because I loved their signature suites. It is so cute! You have a small balcony, the main bedroom decorated in a cute beach style, the bathroom (ok but nothing special there) and, whaouh, a staircase going to your private « rooftop terrace ». There, you have a hamac, plugs to work (I couldn’t believe it but the wifi worked well during all our stay), ottomans and a fan.
Because my bed was equipped with a mosquito net :-). The mattress was ok, not great but still comfortable. There were enough plugs in the room.
Because the food was good: breakfast hasn’t got a lot of choice but a woman is making delicious crepes; lunch is very good (we ate there twice) and we had the barbecue on the beach at night and the fish we had was also great and very fresh (I had another one in an another restaurant during my stay and I can tell you that the quality of the fish was lower, compared to sunrise)
The swimming-pool was clean, as well as the room. The pool area is nicely decorated.
Because you feel you are in a little paradise.
Ok, so why not a rate of 5? Well, first the equipments: here, be prepared, there isn’t a TV set in your bedroom (I don’t care as I never watch it during holidays), no phone to contact the reception (take your feet and go there!) and your mini-bar consists in a quite noisy mini fridge where water bottles are stored. Second, because of service: here, you are a little by yourself (you get your towels by the pool and you write your name on a paper left next to it; you’d better go to the bar to fetch a drink when you are on the beach as the waiter doesn’t come often; the restaurant area could be cleaner, I think; the receptionist is a very funny man - he made me think of French comedian Jamel Debbouze- who is willing to help but be ready to wait for any of your demand; the manager is not what you can expect and quite unfriendly). Yet, note that it is a three-star hotel, so, nothing can be perfect. And you can rent bikes from there or arrange a boat trip, as many other places on the island. Plus, there is a small shop where you can buy souvenirs. And this island is so charming!

the price doesnt match the services and quality provided . the whole place looks like been hit by a storm, debris are all around the place not to mention the staff are barely speak english ( you have to repeatedly say things in order to get it right )
