Ricki is in charge of managing the hotel and he is wonderful. He is so lovely, friendly and welcoming. He always had a smile on his face and speaks good English. He is genuinely very happy to serve his customers - offering many times to bring hot water or our drinks to the room. He took us on a tour which includes going to the local market, walking in a rice field and then cooking typical Indonesian food (Gado Gado and Chicken Curry) in the rice field. This tour was lovely and highly recommend it! The lunch was delicious and  eating in the rice field provided a beautiful view.

However, the room is basic (just a bed, couch and night table and one other table) and not too clean. Cockroaches in the bathroom and the bedroom. The stay could be much improved by sweeping and mopping the floor daily in the rooms and bathrooms. Bathrooms definitely need to be redone - and cleaned more thoroughly. The outside of the villa is very pretty and nice.

Ricki’s brother Ben cooks super well - so definitely grab dinner at the hotel! They use all the freshest ingredients and you can definitely tell. 

Lovely host, pretty scenery, basic rooms and rooms are not clean enough 

Once arrived at the resort, we got a very warm welcome by Riki and his younger brother Binot. After we dropped our bags into our room and went back for a drink, Riki came to have a chat with us; what a nice, and especially positive guy. He gave us such a great feeling that we haven’t seen before in Indonesia. Riki told us he and Binot could take us along to show us some local things around Ruteng. We were very interesting and the price was not bad at all. Because of them, we had some chats and got in contact with local people who were doing their daily handcrafting. Such a lovely day! Once we got back, Riki offered us a tour around the village for the day after. This would be a visit to the local market, a small walk in his rice fields where we would have a cooking class with his family with the product we would buy on the market. Of course we accepted, cause we felt this would be another wonderful day. And guess what; it WAS such a lovely, tasteful and heartwarming experience.
They’re always in for a good chat, laugh, game and they’re there when you need anything. The food is great (please try the pizza, it was the best we ever-ever had), the rooms are clean, shower is warm, the pool is filled with spring water (very refreshing).
But the best part of all is the feeling you’ll get from these guys. We still enjoy the moments when we’re talking about our days there. 

So please, of you consider going to south of the Rinjani and be with the locals, go to the Mountain resort in Tetebatu to meet these guys. Let them show you the area. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Just perfect!

Our room here was somewhat basic but okay for two nights or so. In low season we were the only guests (and had the pool exclusively for ourselves). Riki, the guy in charge of pretty much everything, accompanied us to walk through the rice fields and to some waterfall. There is no need for an alarm clock here since the call of the Muezzin from the nearby mosque will wake you up early enough to enjoy the sunrise. We absolutely enjoyed our stay here.

good view over juicy rice fields and Mount Rinjani

I stayed 2 nights as part of an Intrepid Travel trip at this resort, staying in the quaint thatched  high roof characterful little houses.
Quite basic inside, no air con or hanging space, comfortable beds, good WiFi and breakfast. The surroundings are beautiful with good views of the rice fields and great base for Rinjani. 
I did a tour of the rice fields and this was perhaps a highlight of my trip to Lombok, really interesting learning about the flora & fauna and of course the process / production of rice – I certainly wont take for granted the back breaking labour that goes into rice growing.
This is a great hotel with lovely surroundings but definitely not if your looking for luxury – I did share my bathroom with a few creepy crawlies…it constantly rained during my visit go figure.., so I can imagine this is a little oasis when the sun shines over it. Yes you can hear the call to prayer but I found the frogs louder during the night ha ha!

Rice fields views

We came as part of an Intrepid Tour group. The place is clean and has a beautiful garden and pool. The rooms are spacious but basic. No hanging cupboards, fridge or kettle. They do have good wifi.  We enjoyed a pleasant breakfast and had dinner over the road which was very good.
It was our first exposure to the Muslim prayers over loudspeakers from several neighbouring villages. The bungalows are well insulated from heat but quite transparent to sound.  However, I expect that you would get used to this over a few days.

Pleasant and relaxing mostly

Tetebatu is a quiet small village in rural Lombok amidst some of the best rice fields I've seen across SE Asia.  Mountain View Resort has traditional style bungalows around a pool and small rice paddie.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable and offer a great place to sit out front with views across rice fields up to Mt Rinjani.  There is a viewing platform that offers a great place to site and watch the activities in adjacent rice fields and houses with the backdrop of Rinjani.  We organised a day trek with Ricky through the hotel and had a great day out walking at a slow pace gettiing lots of great insights into the plants, lifestyle and workings of the villages in the area.  We visited a refreshing waterfall and a monkey forest  and reutrned along the road through clusters of houses.  Overall this hotel offers great value for money considering the location. level of service and facilities and the location.  If you are looking for a higher level of creature comforts and a secure power supply, you may be disappointed.  Great place to get a little off the beaten track away from the hustle and bustle of more developed tourist areas and get intouch with the real world adn practice Bahasa with the locals.  The only warning I would give is this place is serious about Mosques.  There are 3 within 500mtrs from each other and they start early (4am) and go for a long time and repeat throughout the day.  There will be times when there is no one around the hotel as they are off to prayer.  All part of the unique experience of staying in a rural village in Lombok.  This place is all about exploring and great memories.

Best accommodation in town

Very quiet location, do not expect much to happen here, lovely location in the rice fields. Basic hotel do not expect too much, no air conditioning in the rooms only a plug in fan, no tv/radio/fridge or anything in the room except a bed and two chairs and a table. The bathroom is ok, again basic but usable, toilet, sink and shower. This is a nice hotel but no extras and no luxuries. It was nice sitting outside the room with a drink sat watching the sun set. Breakfast is again basic. When i stayed here there were only four other people in the hotel, so very quiet and they only served breakfast we had to go across the road to another hotel for an evening meal, and we were the only people eating in that hotel. So yes nice and very quiet location nothing much happening, but it was nice having breakfast looking at the mountains.
