Hidden compound of 5-6 bungalows tucked away from the main road of Candidasa.  We stumbled upon in on our first day in town but were so enchanted that made a reservation for a couple of days later, when they had an opening.  We loved it so much that we came back to another of their cottages a few days later when they had another opening.  Next time around, we will be sure to book our stay much in advance in order to stay at least an entire week.  Simply magical stay there.  The home-cooked food is not to be missed.

We were wandering along the main road of Candidasa looking for a suitable lunch spot and happened across Ida's. It is very tropical looking with a very castaway feel to it. We walked in and were met by a European man. We asked if Ida's had a restaurant with a water view. He gestured to the kitchen and said that if we asked, the cook might make us some food that could be served to us at a wooden table and chairs down on the water. We did just that and along with a few cold Bintangs settled in for what was the highlight of our visit to Candidasa. The accommodation is in a series of thatched bungalows dotted around a grove of coconut trees. Apparently they are extremely environmentally friendly. Ive no doubt that they probably aren't air conditioned either, but if it was a bit of paradise in a coconut grove, then this is it. An excellent traditional Indonesian lunch was enjoyed by us both.
