We were skeptical: few, mostly older reviews, even the good ones were somewhat limited. The photos then moved us to booking and now we are enthusiastic! One might describe it as living in the temple: traditional red brick houses with high rectangular roofs, decorated with elaborate wood carvings and lots of patina. Modern here is little (which would also be completely inappropriate), except for the AC and the bathroom. The tropical vegetation is lovingly cared for, a guide! The most beautiful is the view from the early sea terrace to the rocks. Refreshing there is a lot of small beds and pool sunsets. The entrance is very complicated, there is no problem to swimming in. We were very happy to find and we were able to get a good idea of the restroom.

Like from another world

It's like a traditional Balinese village. Red brick houses with reet roofs. Everything's been rough in the years, but very friendly. The staff is very nice and warm once you get to know each other. Just one night is definitely not enough. Direct access to the sea, good for snorkeling. I like to come here again and again.

A small tree

Hidden compound of 5-6 bungalows tucked away from the main road of Candidasa.  We stumbled upon in on our first day in town but were so enchanted that made a reservation for a couple of days later, when they had an opening.  We loved it so much that we came back to another of their cottages a few days later when they had another opening.  Next time around, we will be sure to book our stay much in advance in order to stay at least an entire week.  Simply magical stay there.  The home-cooked food is not to be missed.

We were wandering along the main road of Candidasa looking for a suitable lunch spot and happened across Ida's. It is very tropical looking with a very castaway feel to it. We walked in and were met by a European man. We asked if Ida's had a restaurant with a water view. He gestured to the kitchen and said that if we asked, the cook might make us some food that could be served to us at a wooden table and chairs down on the water. We did just that and along with a few cold Bintangs settled in for what was the highlight of our visit to Candidasa. The accommodation is in a series of thatched bungalows dotted around a grove of coconut trees. Apparently they are extremely environmentally friendly. Ive no doubt that they probably aren't air conditioned either, but if it was a bit of paradise in a coconut grove, then this is it. An excellent traditional Indonesian lunch was enjoyed by us both.

We didn't stay here but would love to next time

The hotel is medium, it's inexpensive. The breakfast is cheap, the restaurant in the hotel leaves the best to do. The kitchen is better left unattended. There are few guests, as there are things in this settlement. The staff is responsive and polite, but the room cleaning leaves the best to be desired. English is known to everyone. It's like the first line, and its beach as such is missing.
