Recommended accommodation where the owner involves directly in its management and provides insights about Bromo, from transportation, equipment and personal accessories needed.   The place was very cold at night and we left the place at 2:30pm, much better than traveling from Malang or other cities nearby Bromo.

Homy accommodation nearby Bromo

We decided to go to Jazzy Homestay for a visit to Bromo. Jazzy is located in Torsari, a cute little village next to Bromo. It was a bit of a hassle to get there but only because we didn’t follow Dedy’s directions (we went to pasuruan, Pasrepan and then to Torsari). Dedy provides pick-up services we didn’t use so we had to get an ojek which was also a great experience. 

The way up to torsari is beautiful! We arrived at Jazzy homestay around 2 am (we left Surabaya at 10-ish). Dedy provided us with a lot of information and helped us to get a 4WD with another couple so it would be cheaper (460,000 for one jeep). The rooms where really good. Clean, nice bed, water, hot shower etc. We could even use their noodles and eggs for breakfast. That same night we went to Bromo and it was the most amazing trip. If you want to check Bromo from other viewpoints you can ask the driver. The entrance fee for Bromo was 225.000. 

Dedy has a lot of services and can arrange pick-ups and drop-offs. All and all it was a great idea to go to Torsari. Great place to stay if you want to visit Bromo!

Different but amazing place for visiting Bromo!

We stayed in one of the luxury rooms at Jazzi homsestay, which basically meant we had our own bathroom instead of having a shard one. The place was nice enough, and Deddy seems like a very nice guy. He helped arrange transport from the airport, and then helped us arrange transport onwards to Ijen. 

He also arranged our Jeep guide for Bromo, which we shared between 4 of us. The price for the homestay and the jeep was more than fair. The only downside was the location. It was on the edge of a village with no where to eat very close, and it was 2 doors down from the local mosque, which meant we had an abrupt wake up call at 5 am the day that we didn't go to Bromo. Still though, It was a nice place, and I would stay there again if i was visiting the area.

Easy resting spot for Bromo

Stayed here 3 nights too many. Very dirty room with dirty ensuite bathroom - shower, toilet and sink had not seen any cleanser or scrub brush in a while. Ice cold water in the shower after the first few minutes. And we had to wonder about the cups and doddgy looking tea and sugar sitting on the dresser. The reception area was also dark and in need of a good cleaning.

Great walk up to the main street for meals. Several small shops selling drinks and snacks along the way. Picturesque scenery all around and greetings from local residents, rain or shine.

This was not a Homestay. More akin to a neglected rooming house. The pre-dawn wake-up call from the mosque next door was another surprise.  Would not stay here again and would not recommend.
