This was our 3rd stay at Seminyak Beach Resort. We won’t be back and no one will care about this review because most people seem to give it 4 or 5 our of 5. I’ve realised most people have low standards and are happy to pay top dollar for substandard service....

Bali is no longer cheap, restaurants are expensive and drinks, especially wine are a killer. People who say Bali is cheap are happy to pay for average food in Warungs and stay in average villas and spend all day at Potato Head. There are some lovely cheap restaurants, that don't cater to the masses, but they are rare.  So many lovely new hotels and Airbnb’s available now that we don’t NEED to come back to this resort.  

PROS

Outstanding location.
The pool areas are awesome (although I question the new wood around the pool, it’s already buckling)
Rooms are hit and miss and thankfully the sulphur smell in the bathrooms and the front fountain seems to have been seen to.
Friendly staff 
The grounds are lovely.
Sanje restaurant is in the best spot on the beach in Seminyak.  Shame NO-ONE goes there.  Turn it into a bar area instead which could then be an added bonus to the wedding chapel area.  See?  Commonsense?  We ended up going to W Hotel and beach bars for the sunset views and drinks.  Shame, when the best spot was right at our hotel, but with no people and no vibe, why bother?

CONS - Where to start....

No pickup service from airport. In the day or Airbnb this has to change. Being told that you have to stay a minimum of 3 times before you get to be picked up for free is ridiculous, especially when you arrive and see how many people are standing around doing nothing. How to piss people off...

Usual drama with rooms, check-in is always soooo slow. Telling us that people who book through the website get better looked after also doesn’t help. Whilst I understand that may show loyalty it also shows stupidity for the people who do, as the bookings through 3rd party websites are cheaper and have better deals. The hotel has to work with this.

Our friends arrived to their room to find it filthy with the aircon not working and the plumbing clogged up. The cleaners would have discovered the plumbing problem if they cleaned the room in the first place. The sink had a ring around it..

Service is appalling. Being friendly is great but it means diddly squat if you have to wave down people for towels and drinks.  People can be rude to staff, but usually it's because of sheer frustration at the staff's inability to think and anticipate customers needs.

They need a flag system around the pool to gain someone, anyone’s attention. Having to go to the swim up pool bar or wave your hands to the newly built bar at the end of the main pool 30 metres away to get someone’s attention is pathetic.

Try find the towel guy, even harder!

Ordered a steak sandwich but there wasn’t any steaks even though it was in the board as special of the day. This also happened last trip.

The staff are not properly trained. There is a serious lack of common sense and lethargy.  We ordered SAN Miguel, Prosecco, Champagne and a different champagne from a different menu, only to be told that none were available.  When we finally managed to get a champagne it was hot and I mean HOT.  Same for any beer ordered. They have NO clue how to keep anything cold. It got to the state where we would ensure that they put beers and champagne in an esky with ice for us in the morning in order  for the drinks to be cold enough for us to drink later in the day. We watched them put them in, but the drinks still came out warm because it never occurred to them to top up the ice so everything just melted.  You get the feeling that the staff truly don’t care.

I watched time and time again as people sent drinks back because they were warm. Who is the Operations Manager? They should be sacked for not training staff properly. How do they not know to order stock before it runs out? 

Our friend went down to Sanje (the hotel's outdoor restaurant) to order a coffee at 8am. It was 10 minutes before he was served and another 10 before he signalled the waitress to ask where his coffee was. It never came but the waitress came to him with the bill... even though she watched him NOT get his coffee.

We spoke to the Manager who was nice enough about our concerns. Whilst speaking to him we pointed out the badly peeling wedding/reception room with rust marks all over the eaves and in dire need of a new paint job. The curtains are filthy. He told us that all that type of work was done in the off season. We pointed out that we were currently in the off season. It was nice to see painting being done the next day, albeit badly (so much on the windows) by the staff.  How much smarter to hire a paint company and have it done in 2 days max than the staff do it for 30 minutes a day. We ended up going to to main pool for the last couple of days because they painted in the middle of the day and it was intrusive.Do it in the morning when no-one is about maybe? 

Wifi is very hit and miss.

The hotel is looking very tired.  Whilst walking towards the main lobby, my friend saw 7 tiles break off from one of the upstairs rooms and land in the koi pond.  A couple of them were still in the pond when we left.

The pool areas on close inspection have lots of tiles missing and the pool bar tiles are in need of repair.  We commented that the same tiles that were off in September when we visited were still off.

Unfortunately won’t be back

Friendly and efficient staff, beautiful grounds, good food, large rooms, gorgeous pool overlooking the beach and fabulous sunsets.  We had reservations at another resort and, upon checking in, decided it wasn't what we were hoping for.  We made a last minute change to The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa and were sooooo glad we did!!!

Exceeded Expectations

Our special anniversary was spent in  a villa with a beach view and private pool. From the moment we arrived, service was impeccable. A warn greeting from the staff that continued for the whole stay. Taking care of all our needs with big smiles made this an occasion to remember. The beautiful grounds with an amazing tropical setting make for a special holiday. Location is perfect for seminyak, it a comfortable walk to all the important stuff.

A real piece of heaven 

We stayed here in December . it was a fab place and beautifully presented. Check before you book if you have a jaccuzi or pool. We had a jacuzzi which we didn't use as we didn't think it looked that clean. This was our only issue/. The staff were incredible and breakfast outstanding.

Great stay fabulous people/staff

The Seminyak is a relatively small luxury resort with direct access to a sandy beach and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and nightlife. The hotel’s 105 stylish rooms and private villas have local accents like wood carvings and polished hardwood floors plus amenities such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, deep soaking tubs, and iPod docks. Villas have private pools, and open living and dining areas overlooking the garden. The hotel has two restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, and daily activities for all ages. But the highlight here is the oceanfront infinity pool, complete with stunning sea views and a lounge area with bar service. Travelers looking for even more local charm can consider neighboring The Oberoi, though rates will be higher.

Great Resort for short stay

Very friendly staff, a place you can relax and enjoy for the silence. I spend 4 days with my 16 year old son and we loved it. We stayed at the beach wing and the room was perfect for us. The food is also good. The hotel is not affected by the sometimes noisy Seminyak.

Loved the place

The moment we stepped in this resort, we know this will be an awesome stay.

The resort has a lovely garden, 2 pools, access to the beach. Most of all, the friendly staffs! I amazed with thier SOP which all the staffs are friendly n always put a smile on face. 

We had our breakfast and Kordi (if i remember his name correctly) greet us by names daily n prepared expired bread for my friend to feed Aru.

At the ocean pool side, you can enjoy the sunset, even seeing moonlight and starsgazing. 

At the garden pool, you can have quiet time to read and sip your mocktails.

This is the resort that will be definitely recommended to stay for your relaxing holiday.

been there last April, amazing place lovely staff, excellent atmosphere, nothing to say more than this, it was like heaven!! best place to stay in Seminyak, i loved being there and we must come back very soon.

The Seminyak hotel is fantastic, we loved everything from the infinity pool which over looks the beach to the complimentary afternoon tea and the gorgeous well appointed bedrooms. 

We stayed in the property across the road where rooms were a bit cheaper. I do not regret this decision as the room was wonderful and we didn’t spend much time in there anyway. We still had a nice little balcony and it’s literally across the road from the main hotel so if you need to pop back to get something it’s no further than if you were staying in a big hotel where rooms are spread out. 

The restaurant does a mix of Indonesian and western cusine, we ate there once and it was pretty good. I’d recommend a lovely Aussie brunch place just round the corner called Kim soo which does fantastic eggs on sour dough, high quality artisan coffee and yummy cakes. 

I’d recommend this hotel in a heartbeat for couples or friends looking for a relaxing haven whilst still being in the heart of seminyak beach.

Right on the beach with a stunning infinity pool!

I searched carefully and thoroughly when booking accommodation in Seminyak for my honeymoon. I wanted it to be somewhere special, memorable and luxurious and the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa ticked all of the boxes, and more. We didn't even get a chance to explore all of its features and services.

We were greeted with garlands and a drink as soon as we arrived at the hotel. Once checked in and going into our room, we found a personally addressed card/message from the manager which was a very nice touch and this got our honeymoon experience off to a great start.

Throughout our stay, we were just amazed at the friendliness of all of the staff at the hotel and how they would go out of their way to greet you and assist you. It felt personal and you never felt like just another guest/number.
Hotel service was fantastic and staff were always on hand to handle queries regardless of the time of day/night. The hotel was extremely clean both inside and outside. It looked impeccable and was maintained to a very high standard by a number of staff throughout the day, every day.

We had breakfast at the hotel every morning which was lovely and there were a wide range of options available. The atmosphere always felt serene and you always felt that sense of luxury wherever you walked in the hotel.

The room and bathroom were very spacious and we had a nice patio area outside with the garden view. We preferred this as the garden view was nice and gave a change of scenery from looking at the beach all the time when you're outside anyway.

The hotel is located in the heard of Seminyak and all shops and restaurants are a short walk away. The hotel usually arranged something in the evening for guests and during our stay this included traditional dance, barbeque and drinks evenings where the manager and staff were keen to engage with guests. The hotel is located right over the beach and you can either stay within the hotel area beside the infinity pools overlooking the beach, or can walk right down to the beach itself. During the day, beside the pool area there was fresh grilled food and drinks available and we enjoyed some snacks on a couple of occasions.

My partner and I were so glad that we were able to spend our honeymoon at this hotel and we're thankful to all staff at the hotel for making our stay special. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and it was just what I was hoping and expecting from our honeymoon accommodation. It has left us wanting to go back and we would definitely choose to stay in this hotel again should we visit Bali in the future.

Highly recommended for couples who want a luxurious getaway or special honeymoon. Thanks to Michael and all of his staff. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
