This used to be a great hotel, but unfortunately that time has passed.
On my last visit I found a dirty bathroom and the bed was also not really clean.
The reaction of the staff was not appropriate to the situation.
I will not be back.

Nice little homestay in Surabaya. Room was clean with AC and breakfast. The price is good and the staff is really friendly. Because of my family living in Surabaya it was easy for us to get around. But I can definitely recommend renting a scooter (if you are an experienced driver) to get around. There is so much traffic! Or go around by angkot!

Good price/quality ratio

The room is OK, with a double bed and a matress that has seen better times. There was too much furniture in the room (big wardrobe, big desk) and not much space to move around. The bathroom doesn´t have a separate shower and there is no sink. No hot water either. On the other hand, a yummy breakfast is included and despite the lack of English communication, the staff seemed super friendly.

Decent room for budget

I paid 185,000 rupiah a night for the most basic economy room. Private toilet and shower, no sink. It had a skinny window and strong A/C unit, a small TV, and a twin bed. There was free breakfast and they'd clean your room everyday if you wanted. The staff was very friendly and one person spoke a little English. There are about four floors and a bunch of tables and chairs on each floor for a communal area, and a communal TV. There's also a small elevator. It's smack dab in the middle of Surabaya, pretty close to everywhere. There was a vegetarian restaurant right down the street on Dharma Husada that I ate at three or four nights in a row, and every time I got diarrhea. But the food was so good, I went knowing that I would have diarrhea in the morning and I thought, "I'll pay for this tomorrow. Worth it!"  I don't know a better endorsement of their food than that. But back to the hotel.

The wifi was good when I was in the communal room, but not so good in my particular room. You'll just have to be lucky. There's I believe 4 different wifi's here actually, I suppose for each floor. My biggest complaint would probably be the mosquitoes. They could come in right underneath my door. But I had some essential oils that I'd apply that would repel them for the most part. The light would come in through the window over the door, and sometimes that made it unpleasant to sleep, so I'd recommend bringing a sleeping mask. Somewhat loud as well with the commotion in the communal area, the mosque nearby, and the resident fighting cock crowing early in the morning. I had a weird water noise in my drain periodically, so I'd close my bathroom door to try to muzzle out the noise, and a smell would come from it as well. The shower head needed repairing, it was spraying all over the place, but I was able to take a good cold shower. 

My favorite things about this hotel? Staff was pleasant, it felt busy and safe, free breakfast, the breeze on the roof at sunset (which I probably shouldn't have been, I think some staff live up there), the location next to that amazing vegetarian restaurant (worth it!), and the location in general. 

It's a decent hotel. Much much better than two other homestays/hostels I've been to. (Capsule and Sparkling) But I'd probably stay at another place if I could. Well, I was on the ground floor, and I'm sure it would have been quieter on another floor, and maybe less mosquitoes. I'm staying at IKIRU right now and it is pretty nice and so very very clean. Even though I don't have a private bathroom/shower and have to share, it is a very sleek and clean hotel, for about 165,000 a night. WIFI here is lightning fast and so far I couldn't be happier. Fast WIFI alone just makes it for me. Graha is a decent hotel though, I was fine during my stay.
