We were so happy to have found the Swallow House for our 6 day stay in Ubud, as it was the perfect location to experience the real Bali.   

We stayed in the Sunset Villa, which had 2 bedrooms, a large bathroom and two wonderful patios overlooking the mesmerizing rice terraces.  The beds were comfortable and we quickly became accustomed to the sounds of the nearby village consisting of roosters crowing, frogs croaking and the occasional motor bike on the path outside the villas.  

While the accommodations were great, the hospitality of Wayan, Putri and Uly were truly the highlight of our stay.   We had two healthy/yummy dinners and two equally great breakfasts, both delivered right to our patio.  We also had the pleasure of attending a local ceremony with Wayan, which was the best way to understand the local customs and experience the real living of the village.  

Suzan was great about giving guidance before we arrived, which we greatly appreciated!    The Guest House is about 20 mins from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, so close enough to go in for shopping and restaurants, but far enough away that you welcome the peacefulness when you arrive back to the guest house.

Excellent Balinese Hospitality

My 8yo daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Swallow guesthouse. Staying in the middle of rice field is a great experience and was beautiful. My daughter enjoyed the animals living there and the location. Wayan is very welcoming and help us to organise all our visits. He drove us around and is also a great guide. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and authentic Balinese food. In summary, we highly recommend to stay at Swallow Guesthouse!

Peaceful stay in an authentic place

Immediately we were mesmerized by the surroundings.  Wayan our host said it was “real Bali” and this is what we experienced.  The staff were so polite, helpful and thoughtful.  Wayan, our host/tour guide/driver was exceptional.   His wife, Putri, is an excellent cook if you wanted dinners at the home. This place is so peaceful and tranquil that immediately you will begin to unwind and soak in every experience possible here.  We loved it and will be back again.  

A piece of Bali heaven

I very much enjoyed this lovely guesthouse in the peaceful Bali countryside right in the middle of the rice fields. Every day I took a walk through the village and was greeted by the lovely local Balinese. Wayan, Putri and Suzan were very friendly and knowledgable hosts and I arranged for Putri's dinners which were second to none. The rooms are inexpensive which helps to pay for the drives with Wayan to local attractions and Ubud. I would suggest an update to the website so it is clear that there is a lovely pool and that the hosts do not live at the site. Altogether a wonderful experience of the "real Bali".

Bali at its best!

My stay at the swallow guesthouse was incredible in every single way. Wayan, Putri, Suzan and Ayu were so helpful and friendly and made sure I and everything I needed, helped me plan activities and trips etc. The cooking class with Putri was deifnitely a highlight of my trip, so much fun, and delicious of course! I can't wait to prepare the meals she taught me for my family back home. The villa is so so gorgeous and comfortable, complete with two terraces to choose from to read a book or enjoy a meal, one overlooking the pool and the other overlooking a cute fish pond.
As soon as you step out of the house you're surrounded by breathtaking rice fields, butterflies (at ngiht, fireflies!) and a friendly house dog to join you for your walk. The village is really easy to nagivate, and on the nights your not enjoying Putri's heavenly cooking, stroll down to Pesantian ask ask for Santika or Septa who can prepare you something scrumptious as well (even if it sometimes looks closed!).
I am definitely gonna be back and I will rave about this place to everyone I know so book it while you can! You won't regret it. Thanks for an amazing experience and much needed rest.

Beautiful villa among lush rice fields in the real Bali

Very tranquil and superb location. This represent the true Balinese. The host, Wayan, Putri, Kadek, Putu and Ayu are very friendly, nice and helpful. It's highly recommended. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We sure will come back.

Real Bali, real Balinese. Very tranquil

We had a very pleasant stay. We stayed in the bigger villa with our children. It was spacious.

There is a beautiful view from upstairs even though the stairs are a bit high for children and we had to let them sleep downstairs. 
The swimming pool was good, the kids loved it.

Wayan drive us around for a good price and was very knowledgeable about Ubud. He advised us on temples, batik classes etc and brought us to great restaurants (though a bit pricey).

His wife Putri cooked delicious dinners for us twice. There is no restaurants around but if you prefer to order food, wayan has a menu from a restaurant which delivers and helps you call them.

Very nice family and location. If you don’t want to be in Ubud center, I highly recommend !



Very nice guesthouse 

The true essence of what makes Bali so beautiful!! The hosts Wayan and family are amazing!! His wife Putri is a sensational cook!! Book her every night of your stay - very well worth it!! The views are phenomenal. There was such a peace and calmness about the swallow house. 
We were also able to give back to a village school which my family and I really enjoyed. Looking forward to doing much more!! Book your stay asap!

What an amazing place!!

Magnificent accommodation in a marvellous spot with the most wonderful hosts, Wayan and Putri. Only go there if you have a desire to chill, to meditate, to engage with the local culture - to get, as Wayan says, “a taste of the real Bali”. We left there enriched.

We agree with all the reviews that have highlighted Wayans great tours and Putri's fantastic food, the fantastic location within the rice fields being quiet and tranquil and Pankos the superstar dog! The greatest thing about staying at Swallow Guesthouse  was the people Wayan, Putri, Kana, Ketut and their families were very generous and giving, in providing a great insite into Bali culture and customs. We also enjoyed our interactions with the beautiful and hard working farmers who were working in their fields adjoining Swallow Guesthouse. We went for great local walks and we hope to revisit Swallow Guesthouse and meet up with Wayan and family again.  Steve and Jill😀
