The pictures on tripadvisor seem to be taken many years ago.This place now is wrotten and not at all renovated. The shower Place is black and green on the walls and stinks.The furniture is old and not nice anymore. Nobody cares about you. No friendly welcome. And on top: next to Kama Bisma is construction work.The whole day its noisy. Nobody told us in advance than we would have had a chance to take another Pension.The Palm Trees and Ricefields close to the Pool are all gone. We were with two friends. And all if us can not recommend this Pension.We left one night earlier.

Not a place where you want to stay

My brother and I recently stayed at Kama Bisma for three nights (March 3, 4, 5). 

We reserved separate rooms (Chalets). I was in the Anjaji room, while my brother was in the Rama room. 

Upon arrival, I discovered that our rooms were in different buildings and not near each other. (The booking site does not indicate that the accommodation comprises 3 separate buildings.) 

Unfortunately, my room, while very spacious, was located directly above the lobby/reception area in a building that sits right along Jalan Bisma. Although Jalan Bismas is not the main street in Ubud, it's quite noisy, with cars and motorbikes buzzing by every few seconds. There was also a construction project happening across the street. 

My brother's room was located in a duplex-style chalet, further east, about 2 minutes away on foot. His chalet was considerably quieter.

I contacted the owner (Metta) and requested a reduction in the room rate due to the unexpected noise level, and she simply suggested I cancel my room and find a new place to stay. No discount was offered. But this was not a viable option as my brother was also staying there.

The Wi-Fi in the Anjaji chalet is also very weak. The Wi-Fi router is located on the terrace, not inside the room. I complained a few times about this, but there was nothing they could do.

The curtains in the Anjaji room are white, thin and translucent and do not block out the sunlight very well. There are several large windows. The sun rise is extremely bright in the morning. You might need an eye mask.

Also, there was no hand soap in the bathroom. I had to use the body soap from the shower.

Also, the web photos of the breakfast are NOT accurate. The photos show croissants & bread, but these are NOT available or normally served for breakfast. (I messaged the owner about this, but she ignored my message.) 

There are two breakfast options: a pancake or omelet. I ordered the coconut/banana pancake but it was paper thin and undercooked. It's like they endeavored to serve the cheapest breakfast possible. My brother had the omelet, but there was no bread or toast. 

Also, some staff members do not speak English well, if at all. There were a few miscommunications as a result.  

If you decide to stay here and want to avoid noise, try to avoid the Anjaji room. 

 


Noisy room (Anjaji chalet) near a busy road & construction

What a wonderful surprise nestled in the heart of Ubud, only a minute's walk away from wonderful restaurants, shops, and bars! Perfect if you need a hub to base yourself in while you wander around all Ubud has to offer! We were very impressed with the space in the room, the warm welcome, and the wonderful breakfast! I loved the Banana Crepe! Thank you for such a treat away from the hustle and bustle of Canggu. Would absolutely recommend!

Long walk from centre

We just spent 5 nights in Kama Bisma Cottage.we stayed in the cottage named Krisna. It was huge and clean with a panoramic view on the ricefield and jungle.
The staff is very kind and helpful,they serve a fresh brakfast everyday with an huge choice of juices and pancakes.
We also had an open bathroom so you could have an oudoor shower but remeber to close the door in the night!there are several frogs and big lizzard that could enter in the bathroom!

Quite location out of Ubud traffic

I first stayed at Kama Bisma in 2013 and it has become one of my favourite places to stay in Ubud. I returned a couple of times and once more this year and quickly remembered why I came back. The rooms look out over rice fields and are a good size with very comfortable beds, the staff are amazing and it’s location is ideal as a base for sightseeing around the area. It offers great value for money. Too many places advertise their location as Ubud but they’re sometimes up to an hour’s travel away from the town. Kama Bisma is a 5 minute stroll from Monkey Forest Rd or Jalan Raya. The rooms are spotlessly cleaned every day, breakfast is always tasty and there’s a good choice. I’ve booked for 2 weeks next year - nothing more needs to be said. 

It’s like coming home

Arrived at the hotel but cancelled the booking due to extreme damp smell in the room. We were given a downstairs room which appeared nice on the surface but on arrival we could immediately smell the damp. Management admitted they were aware of the problem (which was evident due to lots of air freshener packs everywhere!) but could not offer us any other rooms. Staff were rude and laughed at us when we told them I had asthma so could not sleep in the room. I would really recommend you avoid this place as there are much better places in Ubud, all at a similar price and within a similar location. 

Awful service and damp rooms

This was one of the worst experiences of my life! We arrived after spending 6 nights in The Sheraton Four Points in Seminyak which was totally amazing. Everything seemed good to begin with, we were greeted warmly, offered drinks and snacks and then shown to our rooms. We were a group of 6 (4 sisters, two boyfriends all under 35) and allocated 3 of the 5 chalets. The chalets on the ground floor are riddled with damp which sits on your chest and you are barely able to breathe in the rooms! Everything in the rooms are incredibly basic - and there is no safe and  flimsy locks on the door!! 

We raised the dampness issue  immediately with the management as my sister suffers with asthma but  they became incredibly aggressive and dismissed our complaint in the first instance, blaming a dead geckos 🦎for the awful smell in the rooms. We asked for a refund and again they were very threatening! They suggested my two sisters shared one of the other rooms the group had and started entering the room to   provide an additional bed, whilst they did this we were still in the reception area complaining and the room was unattended. When we returned to the room over £100 was missing and our bags had been opened and passports were left on the bed!! This was such an uncomfortable and scary situation as some of the management were already demonstrating anger with us and when I told them money was missing I felt incredibly vulnerable!! We asked the management to call us taxis so we could leave but they refused to and at one point felt captive!! We left the premises as quickly as we could gathering our scattered possessions, and we were basically thrown onto the streets in the middle of the night with all of our luggage and belongings ! Luckily there was a nearby excursion place that was still open and we managed to get transport and book alternative accommodation via booking.com - Derwaka Villas just 10 mins outside of Ubud! Please do not stay here, looking back the staff were a little bit Hill Billyish and there is a reason why they don’t provide safes and locks on the room!! 

Damp rooms, money stolen, aggressive management!!

We stayed there for almost a week and we had really great time. Perfect place for families. We visited Kama Bisma with our 16 month son. He also enjoyed the stay mainly because of all the smiles he revived from the stuff. Rooms are really clean with amazing view on the garden. We definitely recommend this place and hope that we could come back one day.

Amazing place!

We used to visit Bali every year in the 90’s and head straight up to Ubud. In those days it was a charming sleepy little paradise with only a few hotels and restaurants, no traffic and no pollution. Surrounded by beautiful paddy fields. Now it is traffic jams, tourists jostling and the overpowering smell of car fumes. But the Kama Bisma still retains a feel of Ubud as it was. 

It is a small establishment about 10 minutes walk from the heart of Ubud. But once there it feels like you are miles away as it is absolutely quiet being at the end of a dead end street, away from the pollution and traffic and has only two small villas with 4 rooms looking on to lush paddy fields. Our room was the whole ground floor with Airconditioning, a super comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom with a shower open to the elements. And the rate we paid was very very reasonable for the quality of the place. Not sure how long it will be before it gets busier but at the moment it is a great place to stay!
