This guest house is perfect place for young travellers who love easy access to entertaiment and tourist area. This place is straight behind Gading Restaurant which open for 24 hours. We can hear their live music from our room (i got room number 1). Their room actually spacious enough but in weird layout. We got queen size bed (?) which place close to door and only give us narrow alley, otherwise we got space between bed and TV. There also no wardrobe but we can get empty fridge in room (yes it works). Their staff are helpful and friendly, security also help us to watch our  Motorcycle (rent) because there actually no privat parking area.

For Young Travellers

First time i arrived here, i've been quite confused because this BnB is straight behind Bar and Resto. It's perfect place if you love nightlife but can be nightmare if you seek a quite and peaceful place. Resto / bar open for 24 hr and they have live music when i stayed here. The best thing i can get from this bar is you can get cheap beer here! 

I got room number 1 which first and closest room from resto and straight in front of small pool.  The room is spacious with queen size bed,  flat TV, fridge and table. No wardrobe or even cloth hanger. I got room with glass sliding door instead of regular door and there no regular key, they use classic-style padlock.

Staffs are very kind and helpful. But they not remind me about breakfast (ok this is my fault,  i'm too tired for wake up). 

This BnB have perfect location. You can get many food stall,  resto,  bar and cafe around it. 

*minus : no private parking space, even for motorcycle there only few space and we should share it with resto guests

Place for nightlife lovers 

First we had dinner in the restaurant and afterwards we stayed 2 nights in the guesthouse. The food was ok and the people were friendly. But the room where we stayed was dirty and one special detail: every room has a locker but every key is working on every locker!

Not that great

We chose for this (relatively expensive) guesthouse because we wanted to relax a bit after the hectic cities we visited prior to Yogja. 

The area around the swimming pool looks good, and the staff (with exception of the manager) is really friendly, but that's it! 

The rooms are dirty, stuffed with mold and stains, we woke up many times in the very early morning because of the loud noise from the kids playing around our room.  When we returned from a long day trip it turned out that there was - according to the manager- a tiny issue with the water and for that reason we were upgraded to a better room. Sounds like good service, HOWEVER this tiny issue was in fact a major leak and our room was completely wet! Including our backpacks, its contents, camera, leather bags.... Everything. They did not care to hang out our clothes to dry but just smashed it in a pile into the sink. We were furious. The manager was informed about this by the staff but did not care to take a look to see how this was solved. When we confronted her she just blamed the staff that in her eyes did not take care of the job. While as a manager it is her responsibility in the end! 

After making a big fuss they offered to take our clothing to the laundry but a single beer on the house in the cafe to process all this was too much to ask... 
I get it that things like this can happen to the best but the way the management dealt with this was not acceptable. 

Again the staff is great but I would never ever return to this guesthouse. 

Pick another one! 

My stay at Guesthouse Gading was a disaster from start to finish.  First, I had an early dinner in their restaurant.  The food was so terrible that I chose not to finish the meal.  Unfortunately, I did not finish early enough.  I ended up with food poisoning within 3 hours of having the meal.  

Once I checked into my room, it was immediately evident that the room was dirty.  There were dust balls and dirt stains all over the floor.  The bathroom, though it appeared clean, needed to have the floors scrubbed, as it had a strong mildew odor.

There were blood stains on the bed cover.  After pulling back the covers, I found stains on the top sheet, as well as strands of hair.

That was all I needed to see.  I told the Gading staff that the condition of the room was unacceptable, and that I would be checking out the next morning.  I didn't check out the same night because it was late, I was in horrible condition as a result of the food poisoning,  and I didn't have time to research other accommodation options.  I instead pulled out my travel sleep sheet and slept on the part of the bed that was cleanest and suffered through the night.

At 6:45 the next morning, I was awaken by the sounds of screaming children who were playing in the pool.  While the pool is great, Guesthouse Gading really needs to have a quiet / no playing policy for the pool at certain hours.  There is no reason for anyone to be making so much noise so early in the morning.  

Upon checkout, the Guesthouse Gading staff attempted to charge me for two nights, rather than one due to their 'cancelation' policy.  I challenged the booking company I used to make the reservation, saying that Guesthouse Gading are in no position to dictate the terms of the cancelation given the obvious issues with the room.  After several exchanges with the booking company via phone and email, I was refunded for the two nights I did not stay.  

Other things to note about Guesthouse Gading, the guesthouse is very nice.  The rooms have air conditioner, refrigerators and televisions, and are nicely furnished.  Storage is an issue, as there is no place to hang things, or tables to place things.  For guests who have lots of things, or need to take out many things, the room will be problematic, and it is quite possible to lose something.  

In summary, Guesthouse Gading can be a very nice place to stay, but the staff must pay attention to detail.  Serving bad food and giving a guest a dirty room is inexcusable.

Based on my experience, I suggest avoiding Guesthouse Gading.  There are many better options for equivalent or less money.  While I will not specifically name the booking company, I will never use them again as well.
