The best thing about this place was , easy to find food around. There are many small cafe and warung near the guest house. The breakfast was totally disappointing,  this Wisma Gajah is a guest house and on the other part was another hotel (same garden different side only) although the rate might be different, but the waitress at the restaurant show a different services between the guest house and the hotel guests during the breakfast. at 8 am. I only get 2 slices of bread and tea. (the fried rice was sold out)

Basic needed fullfill

I arrived late in Yogyakarta so I had to choose this guest house that in pictures it seemed acceptable.

But the problems started when I arrived. The receptionist was smoking at the reception.

Dirty rooms, the shower doesn't work and is disgusting, don't have remote control of the air conditioned, so if you need to adjust the temperature at 2 in the night, you have to go to the reception to ask to change the temperature.

But the worst was that there wasn't hygienic paper in the room so I ask to give me it, but the reply was:

"We don't have now, ask tomorrow morning"!!!

Absurd!

Worst hotel ever! 

Dirty, Disgusting, No hygienic paper!

I stayed here as part of an Intrepid trip and found it to be satisfactory for a two night stay. The pool so welcome, it gets very hot in Yogya. There is a nice lounge area where the group spent more time than in their rooms. A nice poolside bar also. There is Wi-Fi and the street on which is located has a couple of very good restuarants. It is a five minute walk to the south gate of the Kraton. Staff were friendly and helped organise tours and transport to things such as the Ramayana Ballet performance in the evening. The rooms are basic and not very comfortable beds.

Tour group stay

I enjoyed my stay at Wisma Gajah. The location is good, near cheap restaurants and internet, but not so close to the city center. The property is beautifull, nice garden, nice pool, good common areas. Everything else is rather basic. Do not expect variety for breakfast. Rooms defenitly need some updating. Beds are comfortable. Floors are clean, but the bathroom not so much.

Good basic guest house

wisma gajah is located in jalan prawirotaman, it is a great location to stay especially for foreigners.. a lot small cafes around... 

From outside the guest house looks very cozy and natural.. but once we enter the room, all the furnitures were sooooo old.. i think from 1970th... well i do not mind to have old furnitures in the room as long as clean but yeahhhhhhh... talking about cleanliness, I do not know how to say... the bath room is big but dirty.. found cocroach, the toilet did not work... the shower... have no idea how to take shower with that...

We complained but i think the staff who was in charge need a customer service skill training.. we were not satisfied even they up graded us to bigger room...

The bigger room has TV.. size... 20cm x 20c i guess.. furniture still the old style and again the toilet does not work properly.. and off course the shower... thats why they provided the buckett so we had shower with the old style... 

If they want to make it natural and old style, that's fine... but it just does not match, they havve bath tub and shower but we still has shower with the buckett...

The hotel has swimming pool, looks like being cleaned every morning but i still not convidence to jump in...

I am not the only person who complaint, but i heard few couples were argueing why they need to stay in that guest house.... mhmmmmm the uncomfortable stay will ruin the holiday and also possible ruin the relationship...

The guest house absolutely need a total renovation..........
