Ah, Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa – where luxury meets life's little surprises. As we ventured into this haven of indulgence, we found ourselves navigating through a maze of high expectations and unexpected twists, turning our stay into a memorable escapade sprinkled with moments of charm and chuckles.

Let's delve into the highlights – those moments that nearly matched the allure of the multi-page e-brochure:

1. Grand Entrance: Prepare to be welcomed with open arms, drinks, snacks, and a TV buzzing with hotel highlights. It's the perfect prelude to the Plataran experience.

2. Butler Babysitting: Assigned a personal butler, because apparently, we need someone to hold our hands through every step of our vacation. Just a heads-up, they have lives too – so expect a bit of delay in their response.

3. Scenic Serenades: Oh, the views! Borobudur Temple, just a wink away, and a landscape that could make even the Mona Lisa jealous.

4. Roomy Respite: Our accommodations resembled a Kardashian penthouse – spacious, extravagant, and filled with more amenities than we knew what to do with. Private pool? Check. Water dispenser? Check. Two sofas for when you need to stage a dramatic fainting scene? Double check.

5. Service Shenanigans: Service with a smile – most of the time. There were a few hiccups along the way, but hey, it wouldn't be an adventure without a few bumps, right?

6. Breakfast Buffet Bonanza: Rise and shine to a feast fit for a king – or someone with a bottomless appetite. The breakfast spread was so extensive, we wondered if they were trying to feed the entire village.

Now, onto the eccentricities – those little surprises that kept us on our toes:

1. Neighbourly Noise: We get it, village life can be noisy. Maybe a bit more soundproofing wouldn't hurt, but hey, it added a touch of authenticity to our stay.

2. Spa Saga: With the spa under renovation, the resort transformed our room into a makeshift spa – complete with soothing music and scented oils. Unfortunately, some treatments were off-limits due to logistical constraints.

3. Butler Bloopers: Our butler had their fair share of slip-ups – from forgetting certain requests to, well, you name it. But hey, we're all human, aren't we? Even if some of us juggle tasks better than others.

4. Privacy Predicament: While Villa 202 touted tranquility, the reality was a bit more... public. Guests from the Patio had a prime view of our villa, especially our pool antics. It felt less like a secluded getaway and more like an inadvertent spectacle. But hey, who can blame them for being curious?

5. Hot Water Hilarity: Enjoy a hot shower while you can – you've got a solid 15 minutes before the warmth fades away faster than your hopes of a leisurely soak.

6. Culinary Chronicles: The menu was a journey of discovery – albeit with a few detours into familiar territory. Local flavors took a backseat to international appeal, but hey, variety is the spice of life.

In the end, our stay at Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa was a whirlwind of luxury and laughs. Sure, it had its idiosyncrasies, but isn't that what makes a vacation memorable? We'll cherish the mishaps as much as the magical moments, because let's face it – perfection is overrated.

Charm and Chuckles at Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa

Such a charming, gorgeous and comfortable resort! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, particularly the executive butler Wisnu and the ladies in the lobby. Special mention to Awang in the Patio Restaurant who was always ready with a smile. We truly enjoy our time there.

A charming and luxurious 5-star resort

Incredible! We stayed in the Executive Pool Villa, which was enormous. It has a beautiful wooden canopy for the bed, beautiful private pool that we just loved. The food was delicious. The staff are so very warm and wonderful. Cannot say enough. And the view of Borabudor! You cannot stay anywhere else! Take the 8:15 Borabudor excursion through Plataran. Early entrance time and great guide, Hassan. 

Just the best!

I found this place by accident while browsing TripAdvisor looking  for a beautiful & peaceful place to stay near Borobudur temple.  The reviews on TripAdvisors were all glowing and I thought to myself that I should probably  give this place a try. Thanks God  I did and I absolutely made the right choice!  This property is simply beautiful! I felt rejuvenated when leaving this place.  We were greeted warmly by the staff upon check in .  We upgraded our villa to the one overlooking  Borobudur temple.  The villa is beautiful and the view is simply amazing!  I could have sat by the patio all day listening to the birds chirping with beautiful forests and mountains and of course Borobudur temple in the backgrounds . The experience was  priceless!  The pool was also an added bonus to cool us down from the tropical heat.  Our head butler, Pak Wisnu, was amazing!  He and the team even assisted me in contacting the airlines to change my departure time.  Thank you for your assistance!  I should also mention that every staff member at Plataran Borobudur is super friendly & nice.  They are all very quick to offer assistance and always with big smiles. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious.  We were so happy with our meals that we requested to meet the chef to personally thank him for making us such delicious meals.  My only regret about this property is that I only booked two-night stay here!  Plataran Bobobudur really represents Indonesian hospitality and charms!  Thank you for making our holiday a memorable one!  I miss this place already ….

Paradise Villa near Borobudur Temple

This is my solo trip and 1st time in Jogja. I have a wonderful experience staying in platran. very attentive and friendly staff. especially kudos to Wisnu and Haris. they were patient and shared lots of historical and cultural of Jogja, and Borobudur. Of course, the villa I stayed in has a private pool, privacy, and spacious room. High recommend the resort and spa. 

Amazing Experience in Borobudur

A very pleasant surprise. Our stay at Plataran was amazing. Great service (especially by Rafi our private butler), food was very good. Lovely spa and all the staff were lovely. Fabulous villa with a view to Borobudur temple. It doesn’t get better. We can highly recommend. Would love to go back. The whole resort is very charming and very local. So green and very comfortable.

Holiday

We got married here in 2019 and returned for the first time in Feb 2023 because of Covid. The staff made the stay absolutely perfect. They are so friendly and kind and full of personality. Food was great. Villa perfect. Just a wonderful wonderful stay. 

The best family ever - Plataran Borobudur

I have had the opportunity to travel to over 80 countries and republics over the years. As  an adventure traveler, I have been fortunate enough to experience a wide variety of cultures, languages, religions and customs. And experiences!

This was my first trip to Yogyakarta and to the Plantaran Borobudur Resort and Spa. What an experience! The culture of tolerance and acceptance of Yogyakarta is symbolized by the Borobudur and Prambanan Temples built over 1000 years ago. 

The Resort and Spa is located in a beautiful setting, overlooking the treetops with a straight-on view of the Borobudur Temple. I stayed in a villa with a pool, providing complete privacy. It was tastefully decorated, with a combination of indoor and  covered outdoor space expanding the living area. After the hectic pace of Jakarta, I looked forward to a relaxing stay. 

The staff were most welcoming and helpful, I arrived late from city centre and they arranged for a late dinner. I found the service during my stay top notch. 

I specifically want to mention Visnu, who arranged trips to both Temples, including attending the Prambanan Ballet. The highlight for me was a specially arranged Wayang Kulit, Shadow Puppet show. I had waited nearly 40 years to see it. Visnu arranged all of this and accompanied me. He is excellent, easy to work with and a cool guy to spend time with. 

I highly recommend a stay at the Plantaran Borobudur Resort & Spa. And if you have the opportunity to work with Visnu during your stay, I think you will be in for a great experience.

Hospitality and Service at its BEST!

We had such a wonderful experience in this place. Even though we had minor issue about the reservation, bur the manager, Mr. Marcel handled the situation excelently. The hospitality of all the staff, especially at the restaurant is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. 

Walking around the hotel without the buggy car, it’s pretty challenging because the path was up and down, and it’s quite steep. During my afternoon walking, I found some hotel attractions such as mini zoo, basket court, and open air kids club. Such a lovely place.

The interior of the room is traditionally beautiful and warm. And the bathroom size is almost as big as the room, imagine how spaciuos the entire room is. 

The breakfast time is the best, but first thing first you must try the morning yoga with the best view. The spa also offered a mindful and relaxing massage with majestic view of Borobudur. 

Additionally, the tour that should be in your list is the bike tour. Mr. Wisnu, the staff and also our guide during the tour was helpful and a skillful photographer. He shared us the information about the right time to visit Borobudur regarding the atmosphere of sunrise and sunset, which is quite mindblowing. I guess Plataran will be on my comeback list.
