Bobby's place is very nice, the bungalows are decorated with good taste and clean, the breakfast is good and well presented. You notice a little attention to detail. There are some things that should be pointed out. The place is next to a road that in the early morning is a motorcycle and car road and noises are heard, unless you put the lids on it. There is no restaurant so either you settle for the little street food you find at 100 meters (fried chicken or noodle) or you have to take a car and a few kilometers. We delivered food from Grab. You make breakfast near the road unless you are lucky enough to find one of the two tables near the small pool which is good.

Not as I expected.

Bobby and his team are very caring.The place is beautiful, the bungalows are very clean and the breakfast in the shadow of the volcano is lavish.

Next to fields in a hamlet, with all its accompanying sounds (frogs, cicadas, calls to prayer..), this is a beautifully designed and maintained homely spot. We stayed in the larger 2 pool view bungalows which had open air showers and big bathtubs, and a 'shabby chic' feel. Everything you might need, even a floating breakfast! My one request would be for wall hooks to hang things up (something most hotels seem to lack, wherever you go). Easy to get into the surrounding area - Bobby has some really good recommendations.

Love this place!

This is our second times here. We're had a wonderful time during our stay at Janur bungalow. We feels like home. Having breakfast by the pool with a great breakfast menu, fried rice, traditional sweet cake, fruits, etc. Our favorite breakfast here fried rice ! must to try. Wake up first early morning and you will see the beautiful sun rise, and fresh air surrounded by rice fields. 

Rooms are very clean. Swimming pool was good for relax. Great place to stay with family. We're having very great time with walking around Janur, visiting village, making pottery using traditional techniques, visit Borobudur, etc. 

We are very happy with Janur owners, they are very nice hosts, we will not forget their kidness during our stay. We will miss Janur Bungalow and we will be back, someday

Hidden Tropical Paradise

A really perfect moment , feels Like home ! Really friendly , if you want to relax in the middle of nowhere this is the right destination ! The perfect place to feel good ! The décoration is so beautiful , really feels like a dream everyday of living there !

Close to Borobudur Temple, tastefully decorated bungalows, attentive staff and very helpful host Bobby! Highly recommend the cooking class - food tastes even more delicious when you've put effort into it. Also special thank you to our driver Wisnu who picked us up from the airport, took us to Borobudur at 4am, found us nice dinner spots both nights and dropped us off in town on our last day. A breath of fresh air from big city chain hotels 😊

Quaint Little Borobudur Gem

It always pains me to write an average or bad review. I always want to like a place and leave with good memories. When I first looked at all the beautiful pictures of Janur, I fell in love with it straight away. I was tossing between Janur or Rumah Dharma, but in the end I chose Janur because of the pictures even though Rumah Dharma was cheaper. We did stay for 1 night at Rumah Dharma too because we couldn't extend 1 more night at Janur due to renovations. We felt bummed initially but as it turned out, it was actually a good thing that we couldn't extend because we actually wish we stay at Rumah Dharma the whole time because we felt it's so much better in terms of everything (location, price, view and the pool). 

So what's wrong with Janur?

First and foremost, the very dirty swimming pool. Eugh it's so dirty that the floor was so slippery and we had to tip toed so as not to slip. Very very disappointed. Swimming pool was one aspect we looked for before we booked anything. Although we're not much of swimmers ourselves, we did want to have a clean pool that we could have a quick dip and swim. I still had my floating breakfast but it didn't look as beautiful as the photos they sent me :-( Hopefully the renovations will fix the pool.

There's no restaurant nearby and for convenience, we had our dinner in the house both nights. We enjoyed the dinner on 1st night but not so on the 2nd night. Either the fish was so overcooked or it's not fresh because the meat was so tough. 

Some of the designs of the rooms were a bit weird, like the light switches. Why were they put at such weird and high places??? Light switches are the most basic thing in a building/house and the builder who knows how to build a good building/house would know that light switches should be placed at a convenient easy-to-reach places, like right beside the door so that when we came back at night time, we knew where to reach and could reach it...instead of struggling to find the pillow to stand so we could reach it. Clearly Janur had only tall western ppl in mind when they built the room.

And there's a huge problem with the hot/cold water for the shower. Couldn't get the right temperature or pressure at all. Either it's too hot that it actually burnt us but then we tried to make it cold, the pressure became so small that we had to stand close right to the wall. 

Location is not close to Borobudur at all. So expect to spend extra money for transfer costs.

Good points:

The staff were amazing! Communication with Seo was always prompt and thanks to Bob who gave us a very sweet paw paw after I told him that's my favourite fruit. 

Yummy delicious breakfasts with beautiful decorations! We're absolutely stuffed! The coffee was the best too. We loved enjoying the breakfast near the rice fields and absolutely loved everything.

Despite the light switches, we loved our rooms, very rustic and stylish. I loved the bathtub but too bad they couldn't arrange the flowers. 

We really enjoyed the tours with their driver (sorry forgot his name). He's a good driver and we really loved Selogriyo. The price was reasonable too.

Not as good as we expected...

We stayed there just two nights but we completely fell in love with this artistic b&b. Bobby, the owner, is funny and helpful, and also his kind crew!! We had DELICIOUS breakfasts (floating breakfast in the wonderful pool!). Bungalows are shabby-chic, large, cool, and clean. I loved the contrast wild-chic. The hotel is not in the real centre, but they can drop off and pickup for just €4/5. Better not to book in the real centre because it's trafficated and crowded. I TRULY RECOMMEND IT.

Little "coin de paradis" in Borobudur

We were there for 3 nights and we felt very well! The premises and rooms are great and designed with a love of detail. Delicious and well-arranged breakfast. The owners and staff are very hospitable and friendly. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the temple by rental bike. Be careful: in front of the temple the merchants prefer to ignore it. We also took a tour of the adjacent village which we loved, but it gives a glimpse into the life on the spot. Fresh maracuja, coconut, sugar cane... and a snack are included. 350,000 IDR per person. There is no good walking distance to the restaurant. But you can get back for around 100,000 IDR (free transfer) and organize WiFi.
