You will never find a better host than Clodagh - clean rooms, delicious cooked to order breakfast and friendly company. Clodagh arranged both an island tour for me and my taxi the morning I was leaving. She rose early just to cook me breakfast bc the ferry was leaving before the usual breakfast hour! Comfortable living room with a tv, couches and table and my goodness the views!

Tranquil casual comfort in gorgeous setting

This is a very nice and clean B&B with a friendly and helpful owner. Be aware that you are about 2km from the port at this location, which is actually close to the island's airport, and getting around may appear challenging. Two things can help: Order bikes or e-bikes (ours were delivered to the B&B), and take advantage of the Madigan Hotel's free shuttle service (when you make a dinner reservation). The 10:20 hop-on-off bus can take you back to the ferry, and they charge 5 Euros per person. 
While out and about, take advantage of the SPAR store, which sells food at affordable prices and even offers a pic nick area by the store.
Our room was small, and it was a bit of a challenge to open two suitcases. If you have a chance to repack before the transfer to the island, I would recommend doing that. 

Very Nice B&B

Ard Einne is a wonderful place to stay on Inishmore! Highly recommend. Clodadgh is very friendly and knowledgable and she helped me plan what to do there, including a great local music show. The room was very comfortable and Irish breakfast was delicious. If you want to rent a bike, they can have one dropped off at the house for you. It’s located on the far end of the island so very peaceful and away from all the day trip tourists. Beautiful views from the house, and it’s only a short walk to the coast and to some amazing sites and hikes, including St. Edna’s monastery just across the street in the cemetery. Thank you!

Perfect, peaceful, family run place to stay on Inishmore

Ard Einne House is located on a hill in a peaceful section of the island overlooking the sea and a cemetery.  Ard Einne's room is typically European smallish, clean and comfortable including the bed, and has a serviceable shower.  There are picnic tables at the front of the Housewhere you can sit and take in the fresh air and sea views.  The Irish breakfast was very delicious.

Ard Einne is on the far side of the island...so when you land at the dock work out a deal with one of the cab or van drivers to give you not only the standard tour but to include a tour of the entire island dropping you and your luggage at the House and return to the 'city'  to enjoy walking around the dock, shops and restaurants before getting a cab back to Ard Einne .  

Ard Einne is just a short walk to the far end of the island where you can see its sister island (Inishmaan) and if you're lucky... seals and dolphins.  If you are more adventurous you take can a vigorous hike to Dun Duchathar (with its incredible views of the sea and cliffs) and Teampall Bheanain.  I spent a couple of hours at these sites exploring and also just sitting and taking it all in... alone (no other visitors).  A wonderful experience that I will always remember and cherish.

B&B on the far side of the island with a some luck and effort you can make it into a cherished experience

Part three of our annual visit to Inis Mór always involves a stay at the fantastic Ard Éinne B&B. This year was no exception. We stayed for 4 nights. The views are fantastic and there are some lovely places to explore (most within walking distance). For those who want to go further, Clodagh can help you organise bicycles to rent. They are delivered directly to the B&B so they are ready for you. We always avail of the packed lunches which are fantastic and freshly prepared each day and are great value. Breakfasts are home made, fresh and a great start to the day. We are already planning next year's stay.

Simply Excellent

We stayed in a comfortable downstairs bedroom with en suite bath, two twin beds, and a large window with sea view. Breakfast was hearty and to order, and packed lunch is available if you'd like to go exploring. The host is helpful and accommodating. 

They take Covid preparations very seriously there and wear masks in common areas. 

Take Noel Mahon's Hop On Hop Off tour from the ferry pier--he'll take you to Ard Einne and can take you into town for dinner. It's walkable, but after exploring the island all day you might appreciate a ride!  We took his tour first, saw the island's highlights and had lunch before checking in. That worked great!

Beautiful accommodations with lovely host!

I rated Ard Einne merely "okay," and I will explain why.

1. This B&B has a two-night minimum. If you know anything about Inis Mor, you know you are not likely to want to spend two nights there, so you are likely to have to choose between paying double or not staying at all. I paid around $200 for one night, and that's a lot for what we got.

2. The room was very small. There was very little space around the double bed. There was no room for a table and chair. The website said the room was 215 square feet. Maybe that includes the very small bathroom (the bathmat crumples when you open the bathroom door), but I would put the room itself at around 120 square feet.

3. The room was right beside the front door, where you would expect a storage closet to be. We could hear everything that happened in the reception area and common room.

4. The room was very cold. When we arrived, the window had been opened to air the room out. The heat was not on. It goes off in the morning and comes on late in the day. When it does come on, the radiators don't get very warm. The weather was freezing during our stay. We got an extra blanket, but even with two people in the bed, we were cold all night and slept very little.

5. The soap in the shower was hand soap. Usually, hotels provide hand soap, shower soap, and shampoo. I have gotten used to leaving shampoo at home because of this custom. Fortunately, my wife had saved some shampoo from another hotel.

6. The sink has separate pushbutton faucets for hot and cold water. You can't run warm water through a single tap, and each faucet closes after a few seconds. There is also a sign warning people not to take long showers, so washing and bathing are not what you generally experience in hotels.

7. Ard Einne is a long way from town. The price of a taxi is 10 Euros, each way.

On the up side, the proprietor was very nice, and the room appeared to be very clean. We did see one beetle in the bathroom, but it wasn't a big deal. The breakfast was okay, although it was not like our first B&B, where they provided a big breakfast buffet in addition to a menu.

Ard Einne is probably a lot better in the warm months.

It's probably best to stay on the mainland and leave Inis Mor on the afternoon ferry. There is very little to see and do on the island, so you should be able to wrap up before the ferry leaves.

Small, Spartan Room; Cold

We are just back from our annual visit to Inishmore. Every year we spend out holidays on the island. Our time always includes a stay with Clodagh at Ard Einne House. Clodagh and Aisling are the perfect hosts. The views from Ard Einne are spectacular. The accommodation is very comfortable and Clodagh is always on hand to help with any requests from more supplies to arranging bicycle hire to booking taxis. 

Packed lunches are fantastic and really keep you going while you are out exploring the island. Breakfast is also fabulous with a huge selection of food; you will not go hungry.

Both Clodagh and Aisling are also extremely knowledgeable about the island and the best places to visit (or best way to get there). 

The location is so quiet and peaceful, away from the main hustle and bustle of Kilronan; it's a great place to unwind and just chill.

It's only a few minutes walk from the airport and across the road from a great beach...Our visit for next year is being planned already!!

A great location and excellent stay - as always

We enjoyed two nights at Ard Einne in September. The house is around a 45 minute walk from the ferry port but a two minute walk from the air field. We took a car from the ferry port as we arrived on the 6pm ferry from Rosaveel. 
We were warmly welcomed by Cloagh and shown swiftly to our room. In advance Clodagh was efficient in responding to emails and answering questions. When we rented our bikes from Clodagh, she was also very helpful in recommending places to visit. 
The room we were in was very clean and cosy and had lovely views of the island coast. You can watch the Aer Arann planes landing too! Aisling was our host for breakfast and each morning was so helpful and kind, ensuring not just us but everyone in the breakfast room was well taken care of. 

There was a lovely sense of it being a family run business. I would recommend Ard Einne house to anyone visiting Insi Mor.

Beautiful views and genuine hospitality

My wife and I stayed at Ard Einne House again during our annual visit to Inismór this year. This is our third time staying here and, even with the Covid-19 requirements, our stay was as pleasant as the previous two visits. 

Clodagh and her family are excellent hosts (contrary to some of the other reviews). They closely follow all guidelines on the prevention of Covid-19 while remaining as cheery and welcoming as they have always been. We arrived early (because of weather) and were met with coffee, tea and cake. The only obvious change to the norm was to pick a time for breakfast (so the dining room could be managed and social distancing observed). 

Our room was spotless and well equipped. The absence of a TV was actually pleasant as we had a large window to see out across the bay. 

The B&B is only a short walk from the airport and Clodagh is happy to organise excellent value packed lunches and even get the bike rental company to deliver bikes to the house if you want them (rather than having to go into Kilronan to organise them). In fact, Clodagh and her family work hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible (even mapping out some walks for visitors to do in the immediate vicinity). We will be staying there again on our next visit.
