I have called in here on many an occasion in the past since I have family living in the area I visit. Breakfasts are incredible - large portions, freshly made and great value. I recently dropped in with a friend and it was too early for dinner but too late for lunch. The bar food is excellent. A real treat was the freshly made fish gougons and fries. They were clearly freshly made with large pieces of white fish, lightly battered and fried. A small portion with fries was more that a starter portion would be anywhere else but it only cost €7, What really makes this place is the friendly helpful staff. My phone needed recharging and they were happy to do so behind the counter. Parking is available all day in the Square. in front of the hotel. I've had breakfasts, lunches and bar food here in the past and have never been let down. i would highly recommend this place if you're ever passing through Ballaghaderreen. 

Well worth going to for bar food

Stayed here for 2 nights while attending a funeral. Booked via the hotel website which takes you through to booking.com. On arrival, they advised that we could be moved rooms and it would reduce the price by €60 so we were happy!
Lovely, big rooms in the newer part of the hotel at the rear. Comfortable beds and lovely and quiet on Friday night. Saturday, however, was very noisy and the singing and shouting went on outside until 2am!
Large car park at the rear of the hotel but watch out for the massive potholes!
With the drive to remove single use plastics, it was very disappointing to see shampoo and shower gel sachets in the rooms - please consider changing this. 
Good breakfast cooked to order but a menu would be nice! Also, a full Irish consisted of 2 sausage, 2 bacon, fried egg, black and white pudding. No beans, mushrooms, or tomato so very heavy on the protein content! A bit of some of these would be nice for balance. 
Overall, a good stay though a few areas for easy improvement.

October Weekend

Ten adults and two children all  accommodated with no fuss at all. Great food and veried menu, great value, we were made to feel very welcome with fantastic warm friendly service. Nice surroundings, I would highly recommend 

A great end to the holiday 

On a recent visit here found check-in/out very impersonal and unfriendly. Had to go to bar to ask where was reception, eventually if this was the manager who checked us in, very unfriendly, reception was a tiny box room cluttered with electric wires. Luggage had to be brought through the bar. Too many doors to get to the room.  Biscuits/shortbread with tea, would have been nice after a long journey.only accommodate only for 2 as 3 in our party. Bedroom clean and bright. Toilet/shower shower door disgusting filthy, aid handle was rusted and chipped, mould, washbasin very small, chipped and not sitting on pedestal, loose, again only toiletries for 2. Cearel not covered in morning, strong smell of overheated oil throughout building, dinning room musty smell.  A good spring clean downstairs and fresh paint to freshen up would be helpful, bar very dark, with plenty of cobwebs, all decorated with old antiques which needed dusted, kitchen looked filthy from where we checked out.  Had hotel rates. It was our anniversary we expected more.

Family

Sweet chilli chicken pitta is always my choice, been coming here years, the food never fails.  Only option in town in my opinion, never stayed but have always heard good things. Easy parking at the square.

attended durkins recently for a meal with my family and it was really nice beautiful place to eat with family and young children great hospitality and lovely  staff but menu a bit bland needs more detail and ring for menu before going there

* Children and families welcome. 
* Function room available upstairs for parties. 
* Guesthouse rooms are clean and tidy.
