Very comfortable bed, spacious room, beautiful beach view.  Staff extremely friendly and very obliging.  Very clean hotel, lovely little village.  Also house keeping staff were awesome thanks again joanne for all you do. Till the next time bye for now

Very enjoyable

Jimmy Brown’s Pub (part of the White Sands Hotel) was the only place serving sit-down meals in the town as we were “out of season” on the 19th May. There was nothing for vegans apart from salad. The chips are fried in the same oil as everything else and the garlic bread was pre-spread with butter. The waitress already seemed a bit fed-up when she came to take our order, but did finally apologize that they’re “not set up” to cater for vegans, and brought me a slightly larger salad than the usual side-order. At the end of my - not very satisfying - meal, I asked if they sold crisps. There was a choice of cheese & onion or salt & vinegar. I said no thanks to both. A few minutes later, our waitress plonked a packet of salt & vinegar in front of me and left without a word. I assumed this was her gruff way of being kind and trying to feed me. As one of my friends was paying for the meal, I went over and explained to her that unfortunately I couldn’t eat the crisps as milk was listed in the ingredients. She told me she’d just charged my friend for them in the bill.

Avoid if you’re vegan

We stayed for a couple of nights. Old school venue that is ideally situated right next to the beach. Great breakfast each morning and nice staff. The produce used is top class and there is something for everyone on the menu. I would happily come back here again. The check in and check out process was very easy too.

Nice place to stay and a fantastic breakfast

The White Sands Hotel, in Ballyheigue is a bit outdated but confy enough. The location just next to the Ballyheigue beach was lovely.

The room was comfy but bit tight because of the large furniture. 
I did not care for the breakfast; a buffet style breakfast would have been better.
The dinner was OK. 
Frinedly staff.

Supermarket just across the street; it is a quite large one too. 
I'd stay again.

A bit outdated, nice location

Very pleasant eatery with friendly attentive staff. Lunch quite good. Only issues seems to be chips and veg ( frozen?, certainly not "fresh" and a bit sparse on the greenery). Protein was good. Pleasant atmosphere and would generally recommend

The photos don’t really do the hotel justice. It’s clean and perfect for a few nights stay. Super friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast is also amazing - so much choice! I’ve attached some pics of the family room we stayed in. Yes there is no Wi-Fi in our room but the 4G is excellent, and there are lots of lovely lounge areas to relax in. Jimmy Brown the owner is always on hand. The bar is lively and friendly too. Perfect for our family stay.


Clean, friendly, just what we needed 💛💛

Jimmy., the owner walks around  the bar and greets the guests like old Friends.  It's a family  run hotel that makes an effort. The hotel bar is like a normal  bar. Clinical  is not a word that could  ever describe  this hotel.familial most definitely.  

Great place 

The location of this establishment is in a beautiful area, however the place itself was very disappointing. Our room was tiny and when you opened the bathroom door you walked straight in to the shower, if you needed the loo well it was squeezed in between the door and the shower. The shower tray was like a skating rink and badly needed an anti slip mat. Yes there was a wonderful view from our very draughty window which we tried blocking out with a blanket. On our arrival we decided to have a light snack and would have a meal on our return in about an hour. We ordered 2 soups and 2 glasses of water with a dash of blackcurrant, the soup was much more expensive than the neighbouring hotel and we were charged €3 for the 2 small glasses of blackcurrant to which I might add didn’t even have a cube of ice in it.. I would also like to add that a pint of blackcurrant in the neighbouring hotel was free. So it was quiet clear to us that our custom was much more appreciated in the neighbouring hotel. We did mention it to reception on our checkout but got no reaction, we at least hoped the €3 was a mistake.. I would also like to add that if you want customers to return you need to treat them right, and for this reason I will not be recommending this establishment.

Great location but won’t be returning

This is a homely hotel with a relaxed atmosphere in a great location close to the beach. The bar serves great food with great service. Staff are lovely! The hotel is old fashioned but I can’t fault it. Great breakfast in the restaurant and the free parking was very welcome!

Homely & Relaxed Hotel

Wish I could give five stars but the truth is - I'm being generous with three...

The price is high - and the food - is average at best - again being generous.

The fish is decent - as it should be - but anything else is cheapest of the cheap and you can taste it - a member of our group ordered the roast turkey and ham... the turkey was dry and the ham was suspicious..  Ieaving me wonder whether it wasn't one of those microwave jobs from Musgraves where the turkey and ham are together with the stuffing....  did I hear a distant."ping"! 

Accompanying chips are frozen...  we made the mistake of ordering the "apple crumble cake" €7.50 for a slice of I don't know what - there was no apple and it wasn't a crumble - fake cream on the side - a pet hate of mine - if it was €4/5 I might let fake cream slide but 7.50e - from a hotel in Kerry - how can they serve fake cream - and why bother put it into a fancy dish - that doesnt make it any less cheap. 

The service is prompt but no beer mats served with drinks - so a soggy table - and  the table was none too clean to begin with.

We went twice and were equally unimpressed the second time round.. but with four adults each outing put a decent dent in the wallet...

There are however tour buses pulling in and out every day so maybe they know which side their bread is buttered on - it wasn't ours that's for sure...
