When ever I book a small Bed and Breakfast I always like to call the day before I am arriving just to double check on my reservation.  There was no answer but I did leave a message saying we would be arriving the next evening and to please call me if there was any problem.  When we arrived at Pier House we were told by the owners son that our reservation had been canceled due to an illness.  We were not notified by booking.com and I did not receive a phone call from Pier House.  We had three rooms booked for a Saturday night stay so we were in quite a difficult situation.  We asked the manager if he could help us find another place for us to stay and he said we would have to call around.  We asked if we could use the bathroom since we had been driving for hours and he said no.  He basically closed the door in our face.  Later that evening we saw him at the pub playing with the band.
I know Pier House pays a service fee to Booking.com to handle situations like this and believe me I am going to leave a scathing review for them as well, but as a business owner you should always follow up with your guests personally.  Knowing they were canceling a party of 6 with three rooms and knowing it would be difficult for us to find another place to stay they should have found us another booking and left an envelope on the door with the new reservation.  Based on the way we were treated I would never recommend Pier House to anyone.

Horrible Experience

Pier House is absolutely lovely! Clare is the sweetest most lovely host and she will make you feel so welcome and wonderful and she is such a joy to talk to! Our room was beautiful with windows all around that looked out towards the Atlantic and Doolin Cliffs, we loved sleeping with the windows open as you could hear the ocean outside. Breakfast was phenomenal and Clare is an amazing cook! My husband and I both had the full Irish breakfast both mornings and it was some of the best breakfast we had during our whole trip. The B&B is in the perfect location, a 5-10min walk to the main street with great pubs and food and about a 8min walk to Doolin Pier where you can catch the ferries to the Aran islands! It's also within walking distance to the start of the cliffs of Moher hiking trail start. It's a beautiful spot and if you're looking for a place to relax but also have a great time then I highly recommend staying here!

Gorgeous Stay with Wonderful Host

We stayed 2 nights here. Very comforting and relaxing place. Loved the view of the ocean from our room. The breakfast was tasty and excellent. If you want the true Ireland experience I would recommend staying here, it was a nice time.

Great Visit!

Clare was a wonderful host at her oceanfront home. Large airy rooms with views of the cliffs. You can walk to town or to the ferry pier which is important as parking even in September is next to impossible. Breakfast was very good. 

What a view!

Stayed at Pier House fro one night mid July. Average accomodation but way more expensive than other higher standard houses along west coast.Room comfortable but TV not working and shower cold.Breakfast ok but very little choice for vegetarian.
No fresh fruit. Would not stay again when visiting Doolin.

Over priced accomodation

My cousin and her husband were visiting from Toronto. My daughter and I took them on a long drive to the Cliffs of Moher. I had booked direct with the pier house for an overnight stay. 
The house was immaculate and yet very homely. It’s situation provides the best views from the en suite bedrooms. 
We were made very welcome by Clare the owner who charmed us with her local knowledge and tips for visiting the area. Clare really is the most AMAZING host. 
Pier house in Doolin is also an easy journey to Lehinch beach. 

Best location in Doolin 

Very comfy bed and breakfast where you truly felt like you were staying in someone's home. Clare is a great host and is very friendly. My husband is still taking about the breakfasts we had. Of course, the real star of this place is the view-it cannot be beat!

Great value and super friendly host!

We really enjoyed our stay at Pier House in Doolan.  Clare was a great host and fixes a great breakfast.  Pier House is located within walking distance to town, and the great pub O"Connors (outstanding food and live traditional music)

Great B&B, Great host, Great location

I can’t wait to come to Pier House again. We only booked in for 1 night and how we wished it was 1 week!
Our room was large with views of the sea and cliffs. As well as a very comfortable bed there was a settee and coffee table too. 
We ate in a local pub a short walk away (Doolin is only a few minutes walk down the road). Theee was Irish music in most local hostelries.
Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Recommended: Smoked salmon and Scrambled egg.
We’ll definitely be back!!!!

A Fantastic Place to Stay!

We had a clean and spacious room with great views of the cliffs. The breakfast was delicious. Outside of town so we could see the stars, but a short walk to the restaurants and pubs. Owners were very friendly.
