This five-room B&B sits in a quiet side-lane off a local thoroughfare in a township of Dundrum. If anybody is interested, that´s in the outer suburbs in the south of Dublin. Not exactly a tourist attraction, although a lot speaks for this rather nice neighbourhood of one- and two-storied cottages. In my case, it was simply the cheapest option within a reasonable distance from the area where I had to attend to some business of mine. An alternative accommodation would have cost me at least twice the money. Sounds boring? Well, to make your heart miss a beat, it just happens that Ireland´s largest shopping centre is literally just around the corner from this B&B (to be more precise, it´s a pleasant 15-20 minute walk). And getting to the Dublin city centre involves only a half-hour tram ride preceded by another short walk. So, there is plenty of opportunity for getting at least a minimal amount of exercise. There is also a lively pub that takes three minutes to reach and a local mall anchored by a moderately-sized Lidl store right at the tram stop. There is also supposed to be a stylish castle ruin somewhere close. Sounds a bit more attractive now, right?
As the B&B does not sport any outside signage, it may be a bit difficult to identify visually, but that is, of course, a fairly minor inconvenience. My room was large but laid out for three people, which did not leave lots of free space. As the mattress on the double bed was a tad too soft for my taste (and speaking frankly, rather tired), I opted for using the single one. Turned out to be quite good, actually, and equipped with full firm pillows, too. 
A smallish table was a bit cluttered with the tea service and a table lamp, but still enough space remained for my notebook. Bathroom fittings served their purpose well despite their dated look. Now, let me make it clear – in my book, this was not some multi-star luxury accommodation. I could go on with nit-picking but I still feel that for the price I paid, I got a square deal. And in my particular situation, it practically was a godsend, anyway.

BEYOND THE ALLEY, BEHIND THE CUPBOARD – BUT RIGHT ON THE DOORSTEP OF IRELAND´S LARGEST SHOPPING CENTRE

Has parking which was great and within walking distance (3k) of Marlay Park for concert. Very basic and tired inside. Very old mattresses and poor shower in room. Water dribbled out rather than wet you. A real DIY job of turning a house into a guesthouse. Such a pity as could be a real gem.

Overall it was very basic. A bedroom in someone's house for the night. Breakfast is not included in the price which was surprising 🤔 
We arrived a bit early so the room wasn't ready however when we returned later than asked it still was t ready. The staff member told us he was on his own so we understood.

Marlay park is about 50 minute walk from the house.

This may not be a 'hotel' but there's nothing wrong with it. It's a b&b,  perfectly clean, with all you need and a very nice hostess, Virginia. Shower not great but did the job. Obviously overpriced for what it is... but it's the Dublin market. 

Nothing wrong! 

We needed a place to stay in the Dundrum area and the Silver Eagle fitted the bill. Quite hard to find initially as from the outside there is no evidence this place is a hotel. Once you are inside you realise it isn’t a hotel but more of a B&B. We ended up in just a bedroom with a shared toilet but for the price and a place to stay one night it was fine. Friendly staff and comfy bed. If you want hotel quality then pay for a hotel - if you just need a place to sleep then this place was acceptable. It’s close to Dundrum Luas stop and there is a great pub just around the corner

Room was freezing cold and 140 euro!!!  Asked for heat on arrival , went out and had to ask for it to be put on again on return ( despite it being extremely cold weather) Agree on the whole strange vibe thing about the place! Best to avoid! 🤔🤔😑😑😑
Room very small too, seems reasonably clean though, nice residential area in general! 

Poor 

The good points first of course.

The bed was super comfy
The blackout curtains were amazing. 
Location was really convenient as there was a local pub a minute walk away, the train station is a 5 minute max walk. 

The bad points 

The shower holder was broken so we had to hold it which was awkward
The shower was also broken due to water mostly coming from the tap at the same time so there was very little pressure out of the shower. 
They had an incredibly old boiler so we only managed 10 minutes max of hot water. 
They couldn't supply a bath plug to get a bath instead. 
The towels were tiny and they supplied 1 each, we had to wait a day and a half to get clean towels. 
I asked if we could use an on suite room as there wasn't anyone in that room but was refused due to being already cleaned although this was on a morning and check in was 3pm. 

The TV was pausing, playing, turning on and off randomly. When we mentioned it, they're all the same TV so therefore we couldn't watch TV at the same time as other people. 

It's labelled in the back office as being a hotel and on Google its listed as a bed and breakfast. I avoided bed and breakfasts to have a better experience which I had a look on booking.com and could get an actual bed and breakfast for £500 for the 7 nights. 
They don't actually serve any type of food at all so it's falsley labelled as a bed and breakfast since they can't supply breakfast. 

We didn't have a receptionist as such as the one man who worked there stayed in the living room when he was in we could press a bell but it wasn't often we got a response due to him being out. 
With it being a worker rather than the owner, he couldn't solve any issues really. 

They ran out of milk on the 3rd day so we had to keep getting milk or coffee from mcdonalds. 

It was £806 in the back office, yet I got charged £810. 

The other complaints that didn't really affect us would be the carpets and decorating could be refreshed as the carpets have lots of different coloured stains all throughout. 

To sum it up I would rate it a 1* hostel and was very disappointed with the hotel side, the ferry was great and the holiday itself was fantastic.

This place is very unsafe ...cameras where they should not be  ..staff unvetted ..no principal person to report to..  no mains water available..questionable  fire hazard..  .needs  a fire officer check  uck

Very bad

Booked this place through Booking.com. arrived to find dirty bedding, no coffee/utensils. Was supposed to be bed & breakfast - no breakfast. They left a young girl to deal with residents - she speaks little English. Told her about the TV- her answer - 'not my fault'. She put me on to the owner - he thought it all a big joke.
No ensuite - toilet in the ONE shared bathroom won't flush properly due to lack of water pressure. Same with shower. I did get through to booking.com - surprise, surprise, nothing they can help with. The pictures attached are at their front door...disgusting
The place is a tip... avoid like the plague.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

I never thought I would be writing a bad review since I know you get what you pay for... But this place just had no saving grace. We originally decided, to try and get into more of a traveling spirit, so instead of booking something closer to town, we decided to try a local b&b... 

The price we booked was £79 a night for a "double room". From the outside, it seems normal, with plenty of parking on-site, so that's a plus I guess? As others have said, outside seems fine, until you get closer to the property. The door has a paper sign taped to the window with the name of the B&B. A glass pane was broken and just covered with tape. Some big cable in the parking lot running to the house. 
Could do with some work on the shrubs around the front of the property, seemed a little unkempt.

We were greeted by a lovely lady, who manages the property supposedly. Nothing wrong with the manager, she was kind and asked us for our booking details, showed us the property and gave us our keys. 

The property itself, for me, reminded me of barely minimal standard type student accommodation. It felt like it bought cheap, "fixed" up, and not even renovated, to a minimal standard that could be considered livable. It felt quite "cold" in terms of unwelcoming. We didn't care too much for the interior as long as the room we were staying in was at least nice. It wasn't. The whole property smelt quite musty, old, and dated. Looked at it too. The room felt very cramped, the bed was a double, but with that, there was hardly any space left to move around in. 2 Massive wardrobes took up most of the remaining space. A small coffee table in the corner, a flat-screen tv occupied the rest of the space. 

The cleanliness of the room was appalling. Dust on pretty much every surface including the kettle, first time ever, we resisted actually making a cup of tea on holiday because of that. The carpets had some black stain and bigger specks of dust and crumbs or something, not sure, but it definitely still need a vacuum or even better, a deep clean. The bedding seemed alright, a couple of stains here and there. The first night felt quite uncomfortable to sleep in, a good thing we brought pajamas. The pillows were massive and the bed was a full spring mattress. 

There also were cables hanging from random crevices, some spider webs in the corner of the room. By the bedside table, there was even more dust, and previous lodger's receipts and pieces of paper... So the room clearly did not get cleaned... The door lock was poorly installed, so from the inside, we could not even lock the room, nice! It did work from the outside.                        

The shared bathroom wasn't great either, less dust, but the toilet brush holder was completely rusty, the bin was dusty and dirty, bathtub panels were falling apart. 

This is the first time we have travelled somewhere and didn't enjoy staying in a room. Whenever we travelled somewhere new, I'd hate to leave at the end of the trip because I like the cosiness of the room/hotel, but I couldn't wait to get out of there. 

Here's the kicker, the room was advertised as a B&B, on arrival we asked when the breakfast is served, and we were told there's no breakfast due to covid. Fine, we can live with that. But the fact the room was filthy with dust on every surface and the non-existence of cleaning, meant that we were breathing in other peoples matter from previous stays. Lovely bit of bacteria for anyone who loves that type of culinary cuisine. Really hypocritical. So here's the warning, Please, you can literally find a nice swanky modern room to rent in the centre of town, look a the Air B&B app and have a look on there. You will find a really good deal. I literally thought we could find somewhere else for the last night, there was a place going for £89 a night, at the centre, a modern bar/restaurant with a hotel type conversion up top. Looked far better and included food, believe it was called the Zanzibar. I don't believe this place actually has good reviews. But we decided to just save the money and stick it out. For £79 a night, we thought we get at least a decent place, clean, some food options, but this is literally a quick house conversion and room let, it honestly should not be considered a B&B of any sort.

But Dublin was :) Plenty of places to eat and a short drive to the centre of town. If you want some free parking recommendations for the weekend, drop me a message, I found some places to park for free on Saturday and Sunday right in the city centre!
