What we will remember is not the location (ideal for exploring the area), nor the beds, breakfasts and presentation ( all excellent) but the  friendliness and helpfulness of Mary and her husband Hugh. Nothing was too much trouble and they really made our stay very special.  They really are the best of hosts!

Best hosts ever

Excellent b&b. Mary and Hugh were the best, welcoming and so helpful with booking a b&b in my next stop,Breakfast was delicious especially Mary's breads! Would strongly recommend.was able to walk to Glenties village where there are excellent restaurants.


Perfectly clean with all facilities you would need

After a few years of not being able to travel to visit our folks in Ireland we were delighted to stay at Mary and Hugh's for a few nights recently.
The warmest of welcomes awaited us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The home baked treacle bread was superb Mary !!

Return trip to Avalon

During a round trip trough (Northern) Ireland, we stayed in this beautiful B&B in Glenties for two nights. It was pre-booked by a travel company, so we didn’t really know what to expect.
But our hosts Mary and Hugh made us feel comfortable and welcome right away. We had a very pleasant stay, a comfortable room en-suite, and delicious breakfasts! Glenties is centrally located in Donegal and therefore a perfect base for trips to the Slieve League and Glenveagh National Park and much more.
If you are planning a visit to Donegal, Avalon B&B in Glenties is an excellent choice!

A warm welcome in Glenties

Absolutely my favorite place to stay so far! Wonder hosts, food and facilities! Highly recommend! Right beside sheep, lovely viewing and sitting area outside! Close to town but away from it all. Thanks for the memories! 

Mother-daughter trip

We had a great stay with Mary and Hugh at their B&B. Mary and Hugh were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable, very clean and a great size. The location was perfect. You could easily walk into town in 10 minutes and drive to all the main sites around Donegal, plenty of parking at the B&B. Breakfast every morning was very tasty, it set us up for the day. We couldn’t recommend Avalon more highly. You’ll have a great stay. 

The place to B&B in Donegal!!

Excellent 3 day stay at the Avalon Guest House. When we arrived, we were met by the owners Mary and Hugh, who immediately made us  tea, coffee and provided a range of home made breads and biscuits.  Breakfasts were first class, we were treated to a selection of fresh fruit with yogurts, cereal’s, homemade bread  and this was followed by a cooked breakfast. You could order or change the cooked breakfast  if required the night before.
Marys husband Hugh has a wealth of knowledge of all the surrounding tourist attractions and more importantly how to find them. The guest house is in the perfect position to discover all attractions in this area. We visited Killybegs, Maghery Sea Arches, Maghera Caves, Assaranca Waterfall, Slieve League, Glencolumkille,  Malinbeg, Silver Strand, Glengesh Pass, Narin beach, Portnoo and Rossbeg.  

Overall an excellent stay, top marks to Mary and Hugh for making us so welcome.

Excellent Stay at Avalon Guest House, Glenties

We received a warm welcome from Mary and Hugh .  They are genuinely friendly nice people.  Their home is lovely and kept to a very high standard. We were given tea and home made bread and biscuits on arrival.  Mary and Hugh were very helpful to us and shared their local knowledge. 
The room was clean spacious with a very comfortable bed.  Small but effective en suite. 
Breakfast was fantastic. Fresh fruit. Home made bread and perfect poached eggs with kippers. Delicious - and it kept us going all day.  
Unreservedly and highly recommended. 

I hope we will be back!

We were given a warm welcome with fantastic tea from the two owners, we ate a very good breakfast each morning with coffee and everything we wanted and it was nice and quiet, we slept well. We had a nice clean and bright room. we will come back gladly

Best stay in this trip

Let down at last minute by another Donegal b & b (highly recommended here on TripAdvisor.) I mean we were actually sitting outside but no one at home! Advised by owner on contacting by mobile, "go eat somewhere and we'll be there in an hour or 2."
 
 Rang Avalon, which we were to stay in a few days later. Can you take us 3 days early? Landlady responded with warmth and positivity. "Yes we can accommodate you, just come along when you're ready."
We didn't know just then how lucky we were.
On arriving met by the landlady, Mary. Within a few minutes we were made to feel at home. Over the next 5 days we were made to feel part of a wonderful family.
Mary and husband Hugh do Irish hospitality with a genuine warmth all too rare nowadays.
Our accommodation was excellent & breakfasts lovely. The quiet edge-of-town rural setting peaceful. The owners' recommendations of local attractions/activities/restaurants etc proved invaluable, with the result that over 5 days we got to experience the best of the area.    
They say every cloud has a silver lining. After our b & b let down we found the silver lining, it is a place called Avalon.
