I was expecting worse to be fair going by previous reviews. It's bad but served a purpose for a lads drinking weekend. 
As you walked in, the locals on the street and even staff members looked at you with disbelief, judging, "why are you staying here?" or maybe "what crime did you commit to end up here?".
There are stains everywhere and that's fitting as this Inn is a stain on Killkenny. I wouldn't be surprised if the beds were pulled from a skip somewhere with probably the most accurate description of the mattress being "it feels like someone made up a load of porridge and stuffed it in the mattress". Pretty much all the beds were broken in some shape.
The toilet door didn't close and with a room of 8 lads a fully functioning toilet door is essential and a basic human right.
And to top it off, on checking out, we were asked is there any damage..... lol.
Positives - There were towels and soap which I wasn't expecting. The bed clothes were freshly cleaned (could tell because they were still damp). 8 key cards for 8 of us. I got enough dose of Penicillin from the carpet to save a doctors visit for a year.

If hostels could get Aids this place would be called the Philadelphia Inn

It's testament to how much of a stag and hen capital Kilkenny has become that a hotel thinks it can get away with putting up rubbish like this on offer. We had booked a room with five beds which looked fine in the pics on their site. In between, a couple of people had to cancel, which we unfortunately mentioned to them on the phone when they called to take card payment.
When we got there, the place could not have been filthier. My friend put his hand down to plug in his phone charger and came up with cobwebs on it. There was enough dust under the beds to plant spuds in. And to top it off, there were no curtains so we had to shove a duvet halfway out the window. When we complained about it, we were given €20 off, so rather than waste our precious time looking for another place, we took it. 
The proprietors of this place should hang their heads in shame for putting this kip up to host guests. We have all stayed in countries all over the world and agreed this was by far the biggest dump we have ever stayed in. There's another review on here suggesting it is "absolutely amazing". Could the author please get in touch, as I've a dog kennel at home for rent if she's ever in Dublin.

Absolute dump - leave it to the spiders

We didn't have notions of grandeur for the price but clean would have been the minimum you would expect. It was filthy, there was cracks on the dirty walls. One of the beds was broken. The beds all felt damp ,it was just gross. The bathroom door didn't lock properly and the water was so hot, it was dangerous. There's not even a bin in the room we bought our black bag and probably left it cleaner than we got it. It's down a dark alley which is not good at night. Don't book this place, the park outside would be cleaner and nicer. I have never left a review like this before but its warranted after this stay.My friend tried to mention the water the next day to a disinterested member of staff.

Disgusting 

I've honestly never stayed anywhere as bad as this place! For starters you have to pay a €150 deposit which it mentions nothing about on the website! Secondly I don't even know why you have to pay a deposit as there is nothing to break, there wasn't even beds it was mattress on the floor! There was no bin or even soap to wash your hands with! The fire alarm went off twice within less than 24 hours 10pm and 6am!!!! Seriously don't stay here there are much nicer hostels for the money!

I came here with a bunch of the girls about 6 of us they we're very accommodating!! I would stay here again in a heart beat! Very clean and comfy! Lovely professional staff! What more could you want! Amazing service. Fast and efficient!

Absolutely amazing!!

Stag party arranged accommodation here. Spoke to a person called Eoin - told him the number of group - he confirmed rooms for all. When we arrived - i was handed a bunch of keys and told sort out rooms yourself. Didn't know how many beds were in each so needed to go through every room with the group and try organise it. Shocking setup. 2/34 to a room - and that is sleeping on top of each other. And then they give one key per room and also one front door to building key per room - 3am comes and you need to find that person with the key or its a cold night. Spent half a day trying to organise accommodation. Trust me do not go with this place unless you are very very desperate.
