It’s Closed

I rented a studio apartment at The Maltings in Birr for 3 months. The rooms have been renovated to a high standard and come furnished with everything you need for an extended stay. The building itself is very secure and there is ample parking outside. The rooms overlook and couldn’t be closer to the Camcor River, which is very beautiful with a weir a short distance downstream. Dealing with Canbe Hospitality could not have been more efficient or pleasant. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment.

Birr is a heritage town and has many fine walks. The Castle Demesne is a short stroll away and is well worth a visit, with great areas to explore, beautiful gardens, kilometers of pathways and the historical great telescope, the Leviathan, onsite.



3 month stay in Birr

beautiful and pleasant setting in an converted Guinness malt house.  Birr is a small community along the Shannon river.  The restaurant area in The Maltings faces the river and allows for a filling and calming breakfast at part of your stay.

There Are Stunning Views Of The River. Had A  Lovely Breakfast And Had A Friendly Wonderful Host. Beds Are Extremely Comfortable. Right Beside The Castle. I Would Highly Recommend A Stay Here. I Would Certainly Stay Here Again. Beautiful ! 

BEAUTIFUL ❤

We stayed at the maltings for 1 night on our way to Dublin. The b&b is situated next to a castle and river. During brackfest we could sit next to the river and have a great view on the moving water. As a bonus an azure kingfisher flew by to give us a warm welcome.

I stayed at this B&B as I was attending a wedding in Gloster House. The room was lovely and had a nice calming noise of the nearby wier. The bed was so comfortable that I took the sheet off to have a look at the name of the mattress so I could order one for my house!

Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delish. I left my phone charger their by accident and they are posting it to me! Did I mention that it is very reasonably priced? Can't recommend it highly enough :)

Seriously comfortable beds and seriously friendly staff!

Walking distance to Birr castle and excellent restaurants nearby, you cannot go wrong.  A back deck sits over the Birr River where we had wine in the evening.  So peaceful and relaxing watching the ducks.  Meave, the owner, was very accommodating and provided excellent breakfasts.  The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Three weddings in town so availability was tight.  This would not have been our first choice but it is probably a better value than any of the other places around. Clean, basic accommodations---nothing fancy. Downtown location right next to the castle. Maeve was very friendly and helpful,including making the delicious breakfast.

Breakfast on the river

We stayed here for two nights as we came across from England for my friends wedding. The lady who owns this is so so nice and couldn't have been more helpful with directing us to venues where we needed to go. The break fast was delicious and the whole b&b had a lovely homely feel whilst also been spotless. The river running alongside just helps to make this a magical place to stay and I cannot recommend it enough

Excellent!!

This excellent b and b is located 5 minutes from town and beside a pretty river.  The breakfast room overlooks the river – it was a joy to watch a duck swimming while we had our breakfast.  Our room was large, clean and bright facing the river and forest.  The bathroom was also large and very clean.  The WiFi was included and was very good.  Breakfast was excellent and a wide choice on the menu.  The host was very pleasant and helpful.  Free parking and fast WiFi added to the appeal of this accommodation.  Highly recommended for a visit to the lovely town of Birr.
