Travelled 4 and a half hours only to find that the hostel was closed!!! No warning about this. No one answering the phone either. Aparently this is typical behaviour according to the locals. Do not book here! Luckily we found somewhere else to stay in lahinch however there was not much left

HOSTEL IS CLOSED

Upon reaching this hostel myself and my brothers were told to wear our masks at all times as the hostel had an outbreak of Covid the week before ( this was never mentioned prior our stay). However, throughout the rest of our stay was any of the staff wearing masks? Well let me tell you, there would be more chance of me getting trials with Inter Milan after a 3 day rip of pints, not a mask to be seen. My brothers and I also felt rather uncomfortable with 10 of us packed into a room like a tin of sardines. No wonder the place was riddled with Covid before. Didn’t return deposit either which alone would grind my gears never mind the fact they were all Covid cowboys.  Wouldn’t recommend unless you enjoy a Covid test when you return. Lucky for us one of the lads does enjoy an odd Covid test but the rest of us aren’t as keen im afraid.  Poor poor stay

Where do I start?

I was so disappointed with Lahinch surf hostel. Myself and my boyfriend booked a room last minute early one morning and the next day started the long journey from Wexford to Lahinch. When we stopped halfway to get food I received a text from the hostel to say our room was no longer available. Bear in mind this was two hours before our check in time. They didn’t even have the decency to call me and cancel. So I had to ring them and see what had happened. Once I finally got a hold of them after 3 declined calls the person I spoke to was very rude, took no responsibility for the “mix up” and made no effort to apologise. I asked him if he could try to find us alternative accommodation in Lahinch seeing as we now had nothing and he rang back a few minutes later to say he found us a room in a bnb for nearly double the price we were originally going to pay. Very disappointing behaviour from such an established business.

Cancelled last minute

Had a great stay surfing in Lahinch with my two sons. Thanks so much to Will for his friendly banter and looking after peeps into the wee hours at night. He's a good man.Great location to see the surf and run down to the beach. Thanks Dan for making us feel welcome.

Stayed here with 3 friends for 2 nights, had our own room which suited us perfectly. The hostel is in a great location by the beach and also beside the Main Street for dinner. Room was clean but was quite small but did us fine. Toilet/ shower areas were clean. Dan is very helpful and accommodating. We would definitely recommend staying here! 

Great place to stay! 

A great spot to hang and surf, cheap clean and tidy the owners are a cracking couple of lads as well, always availble on the phone or on hand to help. Very close to a good variety of waves, for us beginners to some very advanced waves for those that are expert- not me :) Will be back again.

This hostel was so good that I'm coming back 5 months later to leave a review. I came up from Kerry Co. in the middle of September and I'm so glad I landed at this hostel after a long day of hitching up the coast.

I was immediately greeted by Sebastian at the front desk, who got me set up with a room for the night. Great personality and super welcoming right out of the gate. I ended up booking another night the next morning which is where I met the owner, Dan, who went above and beyond to help me out. I had broken my phone the day before and he literally gave me an iphone to use for the rest of my trip and told me we'd figure it out once I got back in regards to getting it back to him... Are you kidding??? It was no-questions asked, just wanted to help me out. Maybe it's my cynical American perspective, but this type of hospitality is something you don't forget!

The atmosphere of the hostel is very chill and laidback, and definitely encompasses the surf culture that people come to Lahinch for. It's right on the water and I had a little view of the ocean from my room. It's a surf hostel; if you're looking for granite countertops and tempurpedic mattresses, it's probably not the best fit, but the rooms are super cozy and it feels a lot like you're staying at your aunt/uncle's beach house. The team and environment far outweighs whatever you might be missing in amenities. 

Breakfast was good for a hostel, too. I learned a new tried-and-true method to cook hard-boiled eggs. lol. A few of the guests/staff invited me out for a beer and food in town and it did not disappoint. Lahinch is super small but they have a handful of quality restaurants and bars with live music that make you remember exactly why you're travelling to Ireland. Super easy to get to the Cliffs of Moher as well.

Thanks to all at Lahinch Hostel for making me feel at home during my semi-existential crisis of breaking my phone while backpacking solo. You are much appreciated and can't wait to come back!

Book Your Bed Already

Cold room, corridor and bathroom not heated. No lunch, clean limited kitchen... The reception is good. Location: next to the ocean. Business nearby. I do not recommend off-season.

Going out of season

It's a lovely place. when you enter you can feel the good atmosphere with both customers and employees. the location is excellent, and you have a fantastic restaurant at your disposal if you need it. the workers do not hesitate to help you in everything. i left something in the room, and they did not hesitate to give me all the facilities to recover it. thank you very much!!!

This is a great choice!!!

We stayed in the 4 bed dorm and loved it! Beds were really comfortable! The room was street facing but noise was not an issue and we had a great nights sleep! Went for a dip in the sea and were delighted to come back to a great hot shower afterwards! Just around the corner from a pub with great music and guinness. Staff were all super friendly! Would highly recommend Lahinch hostel!
