Attending a funeral we had to book 2 nights somewhere with little notice. This place seemed to fit the bill but was very disappointing. 
The room was in very poor repair with rotten wood sash windows that could only be opened by propping a piece of wood. Even in January this was necssary as the heating was on full power and could not be regulated. The mould on the wall had an overpowering smell and relief only comes if you can get to sleep quickly. The TV has barely any channels. The wifi was non-existent. The bathroom was in an even worse state with an unsealed shower unit and the toilet was so cramped my shoulder was crushed by the basin ( and that had no plug). The bed sheets were clean!
Next morning we were awoken early by the noise from the street (6 am). We found out breakfast doesn't start till 9am so we were unable to have it the second morning. Incidentally you have to leave the 'hotel' to go next door to the cafe.
The breakfast in this cafe was very good.
Overall it was a poor stay. The place needs a total refurb and I doubt if that will happen anytime soon.

Bed, maybe not breakfast.

We stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding in the local hotel around the corner. Guesthouse is a good value for money, clean bedroom and bathroom.
Staff is eager to please, they’re very nice and helpful. 
Breakfast was big and delicious, best hash browns I ever had.

Perfect for one night stay - Lovely staff

On arrival, we were shown to room 6 and absolutely delighted! Very clean and so spacious (see pics attached). A kitchenette w/various utensils, a shower AND bath, big double bed and a day bed too. The decor is old fashioned but in a quaint way. Homely! 
Unfortunately though, the breakfast served to us in the coffee nook was slapdash and not great to be honest. Canteen style food, microwaved and greasy! They didn't have porridge one of the days but I had some on the final day and it was very good, actually -I'd recommend that! 
We were told there was parking on street but that's not totally true. On Saturdays and Sundays it's free on street parking out front. However, Mon - Fri 9.30 - 5.30 it's 1 euro p/hour with a max stay of 2 hours. I called reception Sunday eve to ask where to park and they gave me some shoddy directions/fobbed me off. I had to ask in jumbo's where a friendly staff member directed me. It was still difficult to find and I chanced it and parked (at a guess) where I thought would be maybe be ok!? Luckily I didn't get a ticket! 
At night the room was very cold with no one to ask to put heating on. 
This is the main problem with McMahon guesthouse - there's no real service and it's hard to know who to ask for what. Bit of a confusing set up tbh! 
Lastly, the room we were in was very noisy with drunken revellers and constant traffic passing down church street. 
As I said - a mixed bag. But I won't be staying here again. Worth paying more for better service and a bit more quiet/comfort. 
However, if you need somewhere local to crash on a weekend after a few jars - it would suit you lovely.

A mixed bag

Stayed here while on business in the area. Arrived at 7 in the evening, was told that breakfast was began then following morning at 9. Nowhere on the internet does it state this. I had a meeting the following morning at 8.15 so this was very inconvenient. I paid the non breakfast rate as a result but I would have chosen a B&B that was a B&B instead of just a B. It was also advertised as having  WiFi. It didnt it was broken the night I stayed. The room was at the top of 4 flights of stairs so wouldn’t be for elderly people. Overall the people I dealt with were nice but it wasn’t as advertised. 

Not a B&B for business

We came to this hotel 4 hours before our check in time BUT we were given room impatiently. The gentlemen( i think he was the owner) greeted us , he was very welcoming and friendly. Walked us to the room , explained all facilities and showed us around . Our room was in the top floor ( attic) of the house. It was very cosy and clean. We had great nice sleep, bed was SUPER comfortable.  In the little restaurant located at the ground floor of this hotel we recieved amazing breakfast the next morning . Again all staff was fantastic and friendly . We can recommend  this hotel to all and we will be back for sure. Thank you again for wonderful stay

Amazing just amazing

We chose to stay here as the original 'Mr McMahon' was my father's old school headmaster and this being a family nostalgia trip to Ireland it fitted the bill.

The accommodation is split into two separate buildings albeit they are next too to each other - we had 2 rooms in one & 1 in the other but this was not an issue for us.

The rooms are pleasant & comfortable if a touch dated, there is a lot of stairs especially if your at the top and they are steep. 

The accomodation is perfectly located for attractions such as JB Keanes pub & the Listowel races so a bit of noise is to be expected.

The guest house manager is very attentive/ helpful and breakfast will set you up nicely for the day ahead.

Overall a pleasant stay and good value for money.

One night stay as booked & planned.

If you're booking, be sure to confirm your arrival by text because the manager isn't always there. Otherwise super welcome Nice studio room under the roof. Very comfortable lot Velux well obscuring daylight. Attention:
