I really hope that everyone reads to the end of my review, though I know it might seem long, it will be worth it before you make up your mind up on booking.

There still 2 days left in our visit but I wanted to do my review tonight so please bare with me. There is 6 of us travelled together, 2 adults,2 kids 11 and 14, and my parents so good variation in ages. I like doing genuine blunt reviews so this is my story, I happened to enter a competition on Facebook and I won a weeks accomadtion in glasan to my all time favourite Irish county Galway. I was thrilled after winning obviously and started to plan our trip for this area. I must admit im very nosey so I like to know where I am staying the area and what is around me so I started to Google and read reviews, look up photos etc and I must admit I got bit worried after reading reviews, cause some were pretty bad and photos seemed very basic housing, and I was like oh god what are we booked into! Now hold on... don't panic like I did, so keep reading for a minute. I will admit freely I was nervous coming down cause I allowed them reviews and photos to get to me a bit and didn't know what to expect.

How wrong was I...(The House) 
We arrived down last Saturday to a lovely quiet peaceful little holiday housing estate. The girls in reception are so lovely, and helpful we arrived earlier then the check in times and the girl worked to provide us with keys as soon as they could. We where given a 6 bedroom house as there is a group of us and I opened the door to our house and I was stunned. Firstly was left lovely little note and some treats as part of my prize so thanks a million again that was a lovely touch Glasan. What an absolutey gorgeous house, their photos don't do them justice. There is ample space in the house, there were freshly made beds (I'm fussy I check sheets mattresses beds toilets etc sorry can't help it I have a bit of ocd) there were fresh towels on end of each bed with shower gel for us, the rooms have lots of space with shelves and storage for clothes a wardrobe and little draw side of beds. Toilets were spotless spotless clean showers are lovely and hot anytime of the day. Kitchen god this is well stocked with accessories for cooking and normal daily needs (I must brought half my house with us and what a waste as the kitchen here had everything we needed and was again spotless) cutlery spotless, dishes glasses cups all spotless presses all clean. Glasan should be very proud of their cleaning staff cause they obviously work very very hard and i have had the pleasure meeting some of cleaning staff through the week and they counldnt be more friendly and helpful if they tried lovely crowd, if you need change towels their there, if you need some cleaning stuff their there fresh bed clothes no bother they will help. Cooker took few mins to figure out but is great little oven as I was able cook meals for the whole lot of us and have plenty space prepare extra meals for family popped by to say hi. Sitting room area is just a perfect size there is 2 small sofas that are quite comfy to have snooze on after dinner lol and to be fair done us lot just nice and as area open plan was nice cook and still get to chat away, if I was to be really picky about something I'd suggest tv be moved out of alcove onto fireplace wall see it better but that is me being a proper nitpicking pain. As to be fair I wouldn't call that a complaint. There little sheds or back houses for bikes and extra storage if needed and that great help too. 1 other thing I would suggest would be either have another double room in the house or a twin room, we let my parents have the ensuite and was a teeny tiny bit of a pain for me and husband have sleep in seperate single rooms but again you know what it would only be a suggestion as it been nice share room but we are managing just fine single rooms, I mean it won't kill us only a week but it is just suggestion for large families. 

THE ESTATE, 
It's lovely it really is, the grounds are 100% spotless (spotless is most used word this review but it is genuinely true) the little cafe on site is lovely the smell of food when you open doors is to die for. The laudnrete is soo handy have one right there save having drag washing home after week away. The shop on site doesn't open during summer which is a shame cause id say it be greatly used during summer months too just didn't know this myself it good know before hand it doesn't open. Again not to be picky don't panic because out the gate to your right and down a minute or two is well stocked supermarket, off licence, chipper and Chinese like 5 minutes walk and chipper and Chinese deliver up to your door too. That is so close its safe to let the kids have pocket money and have walk down for ice cream. Further out the road there jumpzone jumplanes place for kids lots to do keep the kids busy prices are reasonable too. It so close and so handy that The fact onsite shop was closed didn't even bother us. The little football area and tennis court all in 1 has been a football sancutary for kids so far every single day and evening since we came down they certainly like it. It so safe and enclosed and there no worrying about running on street after a ball. The area is so peaceful, at weekend had bit late night voices but in fairness wasn't enough for me to moan and that says a lot as ya can tell by lenght of my review. It is outside the hussle of the extremely busy Galway city but again don't worry not too far, walk out gate to your left down 200 meters to bus stop which come very frequent straight eyre square so handy have bus so close cause traffic does be crazy driving into the town take bus less hassle. The estate so relaxing that even my mam that has had trouble sleeping at home has being sleeping like baby since we got here and for my mam who suffer lack of sleep I be never seen her more relaxed so far this week.

I genuinely am overall impressed with our stay, i really and truly am, we are having a great ole time here at Glasan student/holiday village. I would firstly recommend it to others, I would certainly be bringing my family back here to stay in the future. Maybe like some places you get them on a bad day that could explain the reviews but certainly don't judge this place till you come and visit because this is a proper little gem of a place and shouldn't be over looked, ya won't be disappointed. Even the kids said they are glad they have couple more days left here cause they are having a ball of a time. 

Apologies again for the long review but like I said it will be worth the read to read a genuine blunt review. 
I do have photos that I will add in tomorrow hopefully they try shoe off rooms bit better.

What a family holiday :)

I had booked glasan much earlier this year and reading reviews just before our arrival I was really nervous about where we were staying so I decided i would leave a really detailed honest review. We have a child with additional needs so having our own space and her own bedroom is our top priority when booking. I was aware this was student accommodation in a 20year old complex and once your expectations are realistic in that context we were pleasantly surprised. The floor surfaces are old and stairs have a hard-wearing carpet so I doubt they ever look perfectly clean. Due to covid I always intended to wipe around on arrival and I found the place was clean. A floor wipe didn't bring up any dirt even though it didnt necessarily look clean.The bed clothes were perhaps not the newest but they were clean and well laundered. I had brought my own but didn't feel the need to use them. We found the beds comfortable enough. Kitchen was very well equipped. Seemed like a brand new oven. Fridge spotless. Microwave v old and looked it but was clean and worked. The TV had really really poor reception but the WiFi worked great and kids had tablets with them so we didn't really go and seek a resolution on that. Plenty of hot water and showers were fine. 

We were in the 3 bed so just be aware attic bedroom has 2 single beds (again not usually what we'd want but we had been aware of this when booking)so you might have have kids on floor below. Only works with older kids where you're past being nervous around stairs at nighttime. We made door wedges out of cardboard and kept their doors open as you need a key to reopen their doors once they close. 

It is a student complex and there was a nearby party on the Thursday night and we could hear it... but again it was one night and also I kind of expected this to happen and we weren't too bothered by this at all. Other nights had been very quiet around. 

The houses are older and lots of little DIY jobs that have patched up things as they went along. So if your expectations is a pretty house with a luxury feel then don't book here... but if like us your expectations are realistic and you want affordable basic accommodation with good  self catering facilities in a great location to see Galway and the surrounding areas then this might work for you. We spent most of our time out and about and had a lovely weeks holiday in the galway area. 

A family stay in An Glasan

Love this place stayed here previously and as always great accommodation for the price and location.  Four adults and five children stayed in July in six bedroom. Everything in the house you need with regards to cooking and cleaning. Outdoor space great for kids and safe with security patrolling at night time.  Glasán staff very helpful during our stay and sent an item of mine that I left behind back in the post after our trip. Nearby shops and takeaways 2 minutes drive. Value for money indeed and we’ll be back!

Summer family getaway

Stayed here for few days recently. We had a three bed facing onto a green area. For price we paid (had a deal rush voucher) it was fine. Not for you if you’re expecting hotel standard but if you’re happy to make do all good.

Good Value Galway Accommodation

Glasan on the outside looks great but on arrival its grubby with a stale smell of smoke, faulty lights, toaster, shower and oven. The floors were minging, after only ten minutes we had to clean then all twice to lift the dirt.   A headache before we got started. When we could get hold of a member of staff some of the issues were dealt with quickly. The missing light from the middle landing was a terrible concern with our children who are under six. The top shower either froze you or scalded you with no happy in between, thankfully I tested before putting the kids into it. The oven's thermostat was broken as after ten minutes everything was cremated and the smoke and heat setting off the fire alarms. The advertised reception hours did not reflect the actual opening times so we weren't able to get a member of staff when we needed them. No one present the morning of checkout which was a Saturday and no follow up from Glasan since. A bit of a dampener. 

Its student accommodation with a holiday home after thought.

The handover of the keys in the late evening by the security service went smoothly. The house was convenient for us, but we already knew that as we had been to Galway many times. The house was cleaned and in order. Bed linen and towels were available and the beds were made. The size of the house is absolutely fine.

The kitchen was in a sorry state. The stove was far from working properly. The cupboards smelled terrible and the kitchen accessories - if they were available at all - were the last scrap.

There is no double bed, there were two single rooms on the first floor and a twin room upstairs. Since the beds are built in, you couldn't put them together. Unfortunately, this was not apparent when booking. The mattresses were completely worn out so that you could feel every single spring. After 2 weeks we had severe back pain.

But the worst part was the noise. The accommodations are apparently often booked by party people. And everything is extremely noisy. Once there was a group next door for 3 days that was so loud that we couldn't sleep for 3 nights. But the worst was last night, 10 hours of loud music and people were all screaming without a break. Incredible. No consideration was given to Covid-19 guidelines either.

The security is of course always undetectable in such situations and of course does nothing except look away and disappear.
I would never book this place again due to the volume and ignorance. Otherwise, the price-performance ratio would be just about okay. Very basic accommodation, but a cheap price.

Cheap accommodation, but sleepless nights with terrible beds and noisy neighbors

Location is good, close to the city, bedrooms are a good size. Grounds are nice and well maintained. Plenty of parking.

It wasn't cleaned thoroughly before we arrived. There were groups of students still there in the summer months and were very noisy all through the night, security didn't do anything. Should have at least put the families in a different row of housing to reduce the noise. 
Beds are not comfortable. Living area is small. 
If they dealt with the noise issues and cleaned it better it wouldn't be a bad place for what it is, basic accommodation near the city. 



Noisy

I recently booked in  with 3 kids and 2 dogs. 
On arrival we were greeted by another guest from the house nxt door who was very much in our personal space. Went inside and the house was filthy. The smell of stale smoke and the dirt. The garden is not enclosed as it doesn’t state this. Went straight to reception and told the girl im not staying there. She was very apologetic and understanding. 
I expected just standard decor but as long as it was clean and safe I would be ok. It wasn’t clean and didn’t feel safe. I had to make the 4 hr journey home again as we couldn’t get any other accommodation with our dogs. Management and staff were very good to deal with, but i had 3 very unhappy children.  
I would class the accommodation as hostel type as they def are not suitable for families. 
Students were still on site.

I telephoned the phone number that is stated on the glasan accommodation website, on the 21st of August enquiring about accommodation for my grandchild. There are no hours on the website that state when to ring, just a phone number 091380767. I Rang that phone number at 1:20 and I was spoken to so rudely by the man who answered that I would hate to think how students are treated when they have a genuine problem or query if this is the person they need to Deal with. He barked down the phone at me that he was eating his lunch and then proceeded to hang up the phone.
