Great location for an excursion to the Skellig Islands and for exploring avalentia Island. Skellig trips leave from Portmagee just across the bridge. The hostess is delightful, our room was spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The included breakfast, while not hot, was just fine (yogurt, cereal, fruit and juice). Highly recommended.

Stunning views just a stones throw from Portmagee for the Skellig Michael Tours. Frances is a kind and gracious host. Room was great. Breakfast was lovely. My only regret is not staying another night. Definitely add this to your Ireland itinerary!

Top notch!

Portmagee is a tiny little town, but that is what makes it special. Frances is a great host. This is a good jumping off point for the Skellig Ring. Don't miss the Kerry Cliffs - liked them even better than Cliffs of Moher. Carraig Liath is technically across the bridge from Portmagee on Valentia Island, but it's a super easy walk.

I booked for 2 people approximately 2  weeks before and spoke to Francis on the phone 15th/16th July. I gave her my credit card number. When we arrived she had cancelled. We started our holiday in Killarney on the 11th she said she has phoned twice to confirm but got no answer. (Booked it on landline phone as signal not good on mobile from where we live) She said she had a couple the weekend before that let her down, but I said this was not my problem. I thought that when I had given her my credit card no. that would secure my booking. Very disappointed.

The cottage is just across the bridge from Portmagee so a great location. Frances is a lovely and friendly host. We cooked both nights and the open plan living and dining area was perfect and comfortable. 
Lots of walking opportunities on Valentia Island - though it can be very windy! 
Portmagee had lots of super restaurants- so easy to eat out as well as cook in. 
We travelled to Waterville - worth the trip. The boat trip to Skellig Michael can be rough - reminded us of the George Clooney movie - the Perfect Storm - so choose a calm day!

Lovely cottage

Frances was one of our favorite hosts of all the places we stayed in Ireland over our 15 day trip.  She was so kind and took care of us like we were her own family.  Breakfast was outstanding!  The room was extremely comfortable, clean and private and we loved the views.  Sunsets were fantastic!  We walked across the bridge into town each day and enjoyed watching the birds and seals. This is the perfect location to stay if you are planning to go to Skellig Michael.  I also walked to the Cliffs of Kerry from here.  We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Gorgeous Views, Lovely Home, Excellent Breakfast and Kind Hostess

   My wife, my two teenage kids, and myself stayed with Frances for two nights to be close to our Skellig Michael boat trip. 
    The house is clean and beautiful, the rooms are spacious, with excellent bathrooms, and the location is perfect, with easy access to both Valentia Island, and Portmagee. The view from her front door alone is worth the price of staying there. Plus, you could literally walk to the marina where the boats are. 
   Frances is very helpful, very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, and very flexible with her visitors schedules and needs. She is a local, and knows most of the boat captains personally, so she is a great help with boat trips. 
    I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in this area. 
   She also has a little apartment that sits separate from the house that is very cute, and would be perfect for a family..

Beautiful and convenient

Great place to stay!  Francis is knowledgeable, helpful and makes great pancakes!  There is lots to do on the island and within the adjacent towns so it’s definitely worth it to plan a day for exploring locally.  There are nice beaches, ruins, coastal hikes and great food nearby.  We did lots of driving on our trip and it was good to take a break from that to explore the area.  Some of my best photos are from the area.  The room was always a comfort to come back to.  The house was quiet and we slept well.  Francis also set up our Skellig Michael visit which was spectacular!

Holiday

We stayed for three nights here. Our room was great and the location of the B&B could not be better. Only a short walk on the bridge from Portmagee, easy access to everything on Valentia Island, and had beautiful views from our window. Frances was a wonderful host - she made a delicious, hot breakfast each morning and was very helpful in providing suggestions for travels around the area. We definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Absolutely superb stay. Frances is a marvellous host. So welcoming and helpful. You get amazing views from the house and it really is only a 10 minute walk to Portmagee. Would come again in a heart beat
