Kilmahon House is absolutely gorgeous! My room and bathroom were so beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast Julia makes is amazing--not to be missed. There is a beautiful sitting room with a fireplace that I took advantage of each night. It is an easy walk to the beach and to Ballymaloe Cookery School. The service was impeccable. They helped me out of a jam even after I had left. You could not ask for a better B and B and I plan to return as often as I can!

One of the best B and Bs I have ever stayed in!!

What an incredible 3 night stay we had at Kilmahon House. Julia and Mike are the best of hosts. They are so warm, friendly and hospitable. The house and the surrounding gardens are beautiful. The rooms/beds are comfortable. The showers are good. The breakfasts are so generous. With plenty of options on the menu, there is something for everyone. I had something different for breakfast each morning. The homemade jams we got with our breads/scones were outrageously tasty. The self service tea / coffee station on the upstairs landing along with a variety of complimentary freshly baked sweets including lemon drizzle and chocolate brownies are a particular nice touch. We did the Ballycotton cliff walk, visited Ballymalloe House and Cookery School, and ate dinners at Ferritt & Lee and Cush restaurants which all added to the experience during our sunny bank holiday weekend. Julia asked us to switch rooms for our 3rd night which we were more than happy to do. We got a better room, and there was a bottle of champagne and a gift voucher on the table when we entered The White Room. We will definitely be back to lounge, eat, relax and enjoy this fantastic house and the hospitality. 10/10

Bank Holiday Weekend Away in Cork, Ireland

You feel like Jane Austen, a cozy living room, sherry, pastries, and the soft sounds of music surrounded by a park, with the sea just around the corner and the view of a fantastic breakfast making your vacation a success.

We spent 10 days in Ireland and this was by far our favorite place.  Julia and Mike have created an amazing B&B experience.  They both have incredible backgrounds which makes for wonderful conversations.  The chickens, and border collie (Queenie) were an amazing hit with my girls  (10-11) as well for my wife and I.  The rooms are fantastic,  the breakfast is about as good as it gets. Julia and Mike have a lot of local knowledge about where to go and where to buy a variety of local goods.  

They have very cool plans for the future and that means we have to return to participate in the fun that most certainly will be a part of the visit.  Wonderful location, wonderful house, wonderful time, Wonderful hosts/owners.

A wonderful Irish B&B experience Kilmahon House

The house is immersed in a park with a thousand shades of green, there is a garden, a rosette, foliage everywhere. Inside instead you open a coffin of comfort and beauty. Details old style, flowers, velvet, antique wooden furniture. The smiling, cordial and attentive owners, you will not miss anything.

What a wonderful place. Julia and Mike are wonderful hosts. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms beautiful and incredibly spatious. The gardens are beautifully kept. We stayed a week because of our course at the Ballymaloe cooking school. The school is only a short 2 mile walk so very convenient. The beach is also close and the nice village of Ballycotton is about 4 miles away. It was a great week!! 

Lovely stay near the Irish coast

A Stunning little Gem in the heart of East Cork, great location. From the beautiful bedrooms, to the most fabulous breakfast, I couldn’t recommend a stay at Kilmahon House more highly. Julia and Mike, the owners, are so welcoming and wonderful people. Every little detail is perfect. Cannot wait to come for another visit. Susie & Mary x

Fabulous!

I came here by myself to rest a few days. I was immediately welcomed by Julia and her lovely staff. The old house from the 18th century is enchanting in itself and the rooms are very comfortable.  On sunny days I was able to eat breakfast in the garden and got to enjoy the great beauty of it. Breakfast at Kilmahon house is made with lots of love and tastes delicious. You can easily walk to the beach in about 10 minutes and take a quick swim if you're brave enough to jump in the cold water.

Outstanding in every way. All the essential features of a great B&B are there: comfortable big bed; great shower; best breakfast ever (especially the homemade brown bread, fresh fruit, cooked breakfasts); a warm welcome.
What sets Kilmahon House apart happens from the moment of booking, with Julia’s efficient warmth making you look forward to the stay. Then the house, in a gloriously peaceful setting, surrounded by green gardens but only 2 minutes from the beach. The rooms are airy and bright, and the sitting room is gorgeous with the best-stocked library that makes you want to lock yourself away there for a week. We stayed two nights, but gained two weeks worth of peace and rest. I normally devour news over breakfast but couldn’t here: too relaxed in the sheltered terrace eating fresh food looked after by a wonderful hostess, content to just look at the butterflies amongst the flowers and the grass growing on the lawn. 
Go. My new favourite place. And less than three hours from Dublin.
PS - if tempted by Ballymaloe up the road, don’t - stay here instead! The experience you thought you were looking for at Ballymaloe - this is where you actually get it.
PPS - do visit the Ballymaloe farm shop up the road: buy the makings of a picnic, go to the beach and sit for the afternoon.
PPPS - there was nothing really open for food (Aug 22) except takeaways in Ballycotton and Ladysbridge on a Monday/Tuesday night.

Outstanding in every way.  Go!

Julia is a great hostess in a lovingly run BnB. The house is a small village and the garden a place to dream. Here there is relaxation from the finest and the sea is within walking distance with a beautiful coastal hiking trail. Very clean accommodation and great food.
