The hosts provide two comfortable rooms to guests. The gardens are wonderful and the view from the top of the rock is special, particularly at dusk. Mike and Sylvia offered us exceptional care, particularly when my walking colleague needed medical help. They provided generous and tasty homecooking and I can't wait to go back!

Excellent care and attention to guests

Of course, I would not know that Fuschia House is the best B&B. I have not stayed in any other B&B in Killarney. What I do know is that I would like to return here and spend more time. Convenient location a few steps from town, nice comfortable, well appointed rooms, a sumptuous breakfast and very caring hosts make for an excellent stay. 

The Best Bed & Breakfast in Killarney 

Our first night of walking the Sheep’s Head Way. A great start. We were met with a warm welcome, and tea and cake. The rooms were spotless, and comfortable. A fairly low ceiling, but I managed only a few blows to the head. We were warned they had cats that might try to get in the bedroom window, but they didn’t. As we were walking we had pre-arranged a home cooked meal. It was delicious, and featured home grown garden vegetables. A lovely and memorable stay.

Lovely Cottage

We stayed for just one night and were welcomed by Michael.   Our room had two beds pushed together on the ground floor, and up a step in the room to the bathroom.   All very nice and clean.   It  had taken us some time to find the place as we thought it was in Durrus, and had to come back and find Goat's Path, and it was getting late for a meal.  We then met Sylvia in the garden - what  a beautiful place, all made by her in the last 22 years.   The plantings and colours were fantastic - hydrangeas deep blue and other colours too.   We had a good wander around the garden before heading  back to Bantry for a meal.   Sylvia let me take a slip of one of the geraniums, which is now flowering at  home!
Breakfast the next morning  was prepared by Michael, a sideboard of cereals, juices, and then we were given what we had asked for, bacon with scrambled egg, mushroom, and brown and white toast and coffee.
This is a lovely place and well away from urban areas, with the sea just  behind the cottage.
Would love to come and stay again if I was in the area.

Wonderful gardens

Really enjoyed our stay at the Fuschia Cottage, we would have liked to have stayed longer but they were booked out the next day. We'll be back though as the welcome was warm, the breakfast delicious and the location was perfect, quiet, peaceful far away from noise etc.

Peaceful hideaway

I only found this B&B after being given their number from another B&B that wasn't opening until Easter. I stayed here on my first night walking the sheep's head way. Was roughly a 12 km walk from Bantry. The weather was wet and windy (being spring!) but when I arrived Sylvia was very accommodating and dried all my walking gear in front of the fire and made me a pot of coffee to warm up. As there are no restaurants in the area she cooked me a large and lovely home cooked meal which included desert (which I was grateful for after a days walking). The following morning Michael made me a huge and delicious Irish breakfast which set me up for my long hike. 

The cottage itself has been extended and they have 2 rooms available.  The cottage and grounds are lovely and I enjoyed reading in the conservatory which overlooks the gardens and hills beyond.  The rooms were nice and clean and the only down note was the slightly old mattress in the single bed, however this is a very minor complaint. Overall, Michael and Sylvia are excellent hosts and I will stay here again if passing that way.
