We loved this B&B and had a wonderful stay. Philippe and Sophie could not have been better hosts - extremely warm and welcoming, and Philippe was so helpful and generous with information and tips. It is clear he loves Beara and the area and this shines through to his guests. The breakfast is an excellent continental one - and beautifully presented and thought out.  Wonderful tranquil views from Rodeen across to Bere Island,  with very pleasant outside seating - I highly recommend staying in Rodeen House and will definitely return. 

A gem!

Stayed last week, 7th and 8th of Sept 2022.  Phillipe is a mine of information and we followed his recommendations.   Room was lovely with kettle fridge and microwave and decorated beautifully.   Breakfast was continental and we had more than enough - ham, cheese fruit yogurt cereal and........ could squeeze own orange juice different breads and toast.  Teas and ground coffee.  Even though it was self service Sophie checked in on us.
Garden was calming and  a lovely mix of wild and wonderful.  Seats scattered on terrace for sunning and thinking.  Yes there is sun....
Very nice sitting room with views over the sea to Bear island.  Ah the views there are not enough words for those views and we were lucky to have a full moon and clear skies.
Go to Beara, Stay in Rodeen, follow Phillipe's advise and you will not be disappointed.

Deserves every star it gets.

I stayed here with my sister-in-law. What a great choice! We were met at the door by the wonderful Phillipe and Sophie who welcomed us like old friends and took our bags. To say we immediately at home is an understatement. We felt as if we had our own private concierge in Phillipe and received nothing but 5* treatment for our entire stay. The fire was built up for us each evening, we were given maps of the area as well as great local info on interesting sites. However sitting in the beautiful gardens was just as relaxing.
We old girls enjoyed some wine each evening - even this was taken care of by Phillipe who opened and poured for us.
Both Vera and I cannot recommend Rodeen more. We have stayed in many B&B's, hotels and guesthouses in Ireland & abroad and this was one of, if not the best service we have received and all for exceptionally good value.

Rodeen country house is what B&B should be like. Pillipe and Sophie were the perfect hosts. There hospitality knows no bounds. The lounge has tea coffee and biscuits. The rooms are of a good size and the B&B is clean from top to bottom. They have excellent gardens and will even give you a spin into town.
Breakfast was fantastic (though for the traditionalists no full irish) try the scrambled eggs and salmon.
Small things no t.v. in room I didn't mind. Poor of shower was OK. Glass in bathroom needs frosting people definitely don't need to see me in all my glory lol.
I would stay again if in this part of beautiful Ireland again. 
BTW views of bear island at the front of the house......

Quest  race weekend

Rodeen Country House was just bliss. A place to completely unwind after a day out and about. Beautifully cooked breakfast using herbs from their garden to soaking up the view on the terrace to relaxing in the sitting room with soft jazz playing in the background. Very refined, very French (Sophie & Phillipe are wonderful hosts, they took over this B&B three years ago and have great tips on where to go) stayed 3 days and would return in a heartbeat ❤️

C'est Magnifique

Lovely hosts and gardens. Felt safe and welcome for out two-day stay.. Memorable French style breakfasts, Dunboy Castle - just the other side of town - is a lovely place for a stroll.. Watch out for the fairy tree - complete with tiny door,  First outing after lockdowns - couldn't have been better.

Great staycation base

Very good hospitality from Sophie and Phillipe. Super fresh breakfast and nice view. Located on the near side of Castletowne Bere - can explore Glengariff, Garinish Island, Dzogchen Beara, Dursey Cable Car and Allihies. Beara peninsula offers an interesting alternative to the ring if Kerry. Highlight is walking the East side of Bere Island - take 10.30 ferry out, 2.30 back or later.

We stayed at Rodeen Country House B&B in early July 2020, just after the inter-county travel restrictions were lifted. We chose Rodeen over other B&Bs because they had listed their Covid-19 safety measures on booking.com and we felt reassured that they were taking it seriously. They didn't disappoint! We were very satisfied with the measures in place and felt safe there. 
The B&B was spotless, the hosts Philippe & Sophie were lovely - very friendly and extremely helpful, the breakfast was just gorgeous, the accommodation was cosy even though the weather didn't co-operate and the views were beautiful. We had everything we needed and they had some really lovely touches here & there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would really highly recommend Rodeen Country House B&B!

Rodeen Country House - A Really Wonderful Stay with Lovely Hosts, Breakfast, Accommodation & Views!

Very tastefully and comfortably furnished and our host made us very welcome. He had spent a lot of attention to detail to give the house bags of character. The grounds were very pleasant for a stroll after breakfast before we left for the next leg of our trip. A different twist on breakfast - a lot of care had gone into preparing it - not just the usual "fry-up"! Some good tips on our ongoing route and we took his advice regarding a stop for lunch in a little café on the peninsular for the "best Fish and Chips on Beara". Josie's Lakeview House.

A little piece of France in Ireland

This is a corrected review, as I mixed up 2 places. The owners, Philippe and Sofie, were fantastic and made us feel at home. The grounds were beautiful, as it used to be a garden nursery. Our room was very nice, with a great view of Castletownbere and the water below. The bathroom was quite small, but there are plans to remodel it. Breakfast was VERY good !! It is a short drive to town, and there was parking readily available in September (15th). The road to town is narrow, so you might need to backup to a wider area if a car is coming the other way. It was clear for us both ways. I would definitely stay here again !!
