Even with the best intentions, the hosts at a Bed and Breakfast are usually very busy people.
Sheila and Dermot with their two daughters are very busy people but it was amazing how they made time for us.
Sheila drove us up to and back from a local restaurant, she was available to chat from time to time, the tea and biscuits upon arrival were casually presented and their pride of place was palpable.
There was no menu for the breakfast. Just the request: ' what would you like?' 
We were able to walk around their farm, respectfully, and it was wonderful to find walking sticks resting against fences - to take, and use and put back when finished.
The laneways, the little river, the mighty oaks growing alongside the mature cypress, the foxglove entertaining the hungry bee. An overnight became a vacation for the senses. As everybody else said: 'We will return'.

There's magic at Mountain View, Lauragh.

A little remote. Recommend enjoying Sheila's cooking for dinner (fee). Order a day in advance. Pastoral and mountain views.
We where walking. Sheila brought out the map and gave us great route ideas to suit our needs. She also provided Transportation to accommodate (fee).
Comfortable place. Simply loved being there.

A wonderful remote stop.

Sheila is the hostess with the most. Getting to the house from the Beara way is long on asphalt roads but she will give you a ride, for an extra cost, the next day to avoid another 6 km of asphalt busy road, skipping this dangerous portion is worth the price. She does provide an evening meal for an extra cost but let me tell you her food is amazing. After staying here you will feel part of the family!

Walking the Beara # 4

Wow this place is great! The views, the comfortable and clean accommodations, the hosts, ..everything is top notch. I cannot recommend this place enough. Book it and stay as long as they let you! The property is perfect. Did I mention the views? Great location for seeing many things on your Ireland visit. Be certain to get the address correct as there are several B&Bs with the same name across Ireland. Sheila has well places signs as you get close that make it easy to reach the property. 

We highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here while walking the Beara Way. Sheila, the owner, was very welcoming, picked us up and her husband took us past the road walking part the day after. She also cooked a delicious meal. Breakfast was great as well. We were staying in the cottage with our own room and bathroom. This was large, clean and comfortable.

Great stay and great host

I stayed at Mountain View BnB on my way around the Beara Way. The BnB is situated in a very scenic part of Ireland and Sheila and Dermot have a lovely, comfy home with a beautiful garden with great views. They went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful. Greeted me with a cup of tea and a tasty scone after a hard days hike. Following day, they cooked me an excellent breakfast that set me up for my days walk. Went out of their way to help me, drove me a few miles to get back on the trail and even took my heavy bag to Kenmare where I was able to collect it at no cost. Made my last day hike so much more enjoyable. Soundest people you’d ever come across. Thanks for everything, I’ll be back someday to stay again

Lovely stay/ Great people

Good  room -- simple but very comfortable. Sheila was a hospitable host, making us feel right at home. Breakfast was filling and tasty. House is nestled in valley with lovely views of mountains and friendly looking cows. Sheila's two dogs were another highlight. Recommended!

Comfortable stay -- friendly host

Sheila opened specially to accommodate a weary traveller and what a welcome. It would be all too easy to stay here for ever ( apart from the weather) but waistlines will suffer! The view from the breakfast room is amazing and I just loved it. Will be back as soon as I decently can. Anything going in in this area Sheila will know about it and freely share!

Outstanding even in February

A warm welcome from Sheila at the end of a full day's cycle around the coast from Eyeries - logs on fire and a beautiful chaisse on which to relax. And excellent dinner with tranquil views. Spotless and all the usual comforts.

Superb hospitality

What a wonderful experience. After a long day of hiking with wet shoes Sheila picked us up, made us tea and lit a fire for us and our shoes to get dry. Afterwards we could enjoy a nice dinner. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Sheila is so nice and welcoming that you feel at once comfortable. The house is in a stunning area surrounded by mountains. I can only recommend staying at this gorgeous B&B.
